Kate Walker. Head of ICT and Informatics Following university, Kate ran a sales and marketing business in Yorkshire for 5 years, then worked for a University in London, before returning home to Felixstowe; it was here that she joined the NHS, initially as an Information Manager for Suffolk Health Authority. Kate has experience of more than 12 years working across various disciplines of IT in the NHS in Suffolk, most recently as the Chief Information Officer for the Mental Health Trust.

Jason Jones. Clinical Informatics Manager Jason joined the NHS in 1988 working in psychiatry and progressing to managing inpatient services, after spending a couple of years in the police force. In 2001 Jason joined the ambulance service and trained as a paramedic, working for the East of England Ambulance Trust for 10 years. In 2012 Jason became involved with the 111 service in London as a Clinical Advisor, then moved to Suffolk to help set up a new 111 service as the clinical Lead; Jason joins the team in a new role, bridging the gap between ICT and Informatics, and clinical practice. Outside interests include silver-smithing and archery.

Clive Crane. ICT Service and Development Lead Clive joined the NHS in early 2009 to assist with property projects and shortly moved on to take on the challenges of GP IT. During the last three years Clive has been heavily involved in updating GP Systems to SystmOne and assisting practices to become paper-lite. In his new role, Clive will be working with IT suppliers to reshape and deliver modern services to our evolving group of organisations.

Oliver Houghton. ICT Coordination Manager Oliver has over 4 years NHS IT experience and was first appointed by Suffolk PCT as an Independent Auditor prior to formally joining the PCT in 2009. Since joining the NHS, he has managed and supported the delivery of a number of successful IT and business change projects including Electronic Prescription Service and GP Clinical System Upgrades. Oliver has now moved into a role involving the management, coordination and delivery of ICT services and related projects. Outside of work, some of Oliver’s main hobbies include 5 a-side football, trading, music production and fresh water fishing.

Matt Hunt. IM&T Coordination Manager Matthew joined the NHS in 2004 after a career in commercial law, criminal law and local government. During his time at the NHS he has worked with GP, PCT and provider services IT. Matthew is currently working on the IT aspects of the NHS re-organisation including RA Function, N3 re-parenting, email, IT assets and access, and LSP systems. He is also starting a business intelligence project to support corporate transparency. Matt enjoys skiing, snowboarding, fixing things and watching Star Trek.

Graham Hillson. Informatics Coordination Manager Graham joined the NHS in 2008 following a career in British Telecom in consumer electronics and broadband development. Graham has worked on the delivery of IT and telephony systems for many new and refurbished buildings and has most recently delivered the IT and telephony for the NHS 111 Suffolk Service. Graham has now moved to an Informatics role in the team and is coordinating a number of projects including EPaCCs. Outside of work, Graham’s main interests are music technology, playing guitar & keyboards and travel.

Christine Johnson. ICT & Informatics Project Support Christine joined the NHS in 2009 following a career in British Telecom in network transmission software projects. Christine has worked on various projects during her time in the NHS, including Summary Care Record, Electronic Prescription service, Pseudonymisation, NHS Number and GP clinical system upgrades. Christine is now currently progressing the ‘first of type’ implementation of Summary Care Record in Suffolk. Outside work, Christine’s interests include reading, theatre and walking.

Paul Cook. ICT & Informatics Project Support After many years of private sector work in IT including an 8 year spell of running his own IT business Paul joined the NHS in 2009. Paul has been involved in many IT projects including ensuring all IT was ready for the mass distribution of Flu anti-viral drugs should they have been required across Suffolk and many surgery IT infrastructure and IT upgrade projects. Paul is now supporting the project to upgrade around 4000 PCs and laptops, from Windows XP onto Windows 7 and Office 2010. Outside of work Paul enjoys listening to and playing music, motorcycling, amateur radio and building robots.

Due to the nature of the ICT and Informatics programme of work, we often have a number of
