Kauffman Center Presents series Background Information The Kauffman Center Presents series offers excellent and diverse programming from a wide variety of performance genres. The series is designed to complement the programming offered by the Center’s three resident companies – the Kansas City Ballet, Kansas City Symphony, and Lyric Opera of Kansas City – as well as its community partners including the Kansas City Jazz Orchestra, the Kansas City Broadway Series, and the Harriman-Jewell Series. Kauffman Center Presents programming is presented year-round. Its first season debuted in September 2011 with sold out shows from performers including Itzhak Perlman and Dianna Krall, and Aretha Franklin. The seventh annual Kauffman Center Presents season kicked off in July 2017 with a performance by rock bands Blondie and Garbage. Other notable performers of the current season include New York Times best-selling poet Rupi Kaur and the world-famous Vienna Boys Choir. More than 20,000 audience members attend performances in the Kauffman Center Presents series each year. As a part of the Kauffman Center Presents program, the National Geographic Live series is also in its seventh season. National Geographic Live speakers share their journeys of exploration from being on assignment around the world. Illustrated with award-winning photography and video, each evening concludes with a speaker-led audience Q&A session. This series has had a number of sold-out shows in recent years. For its seventh annual season at the Kauffman Center, National Geographic Live features photographers, filmmakers, adventurers and a NASA astronaut.
