KASPERSKY ANTI-VIRUS 6.0 FOR WINDOWS WORKSTATIONS Description Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations is a new generation of data security products. What really sets Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations apart from other software, even from other Kaspersky Lab products, is the multifaceted approach to data security on the user's computer. The program provides protection from all the types of threats that roam the world today, and, most importantly, from threats that have not yet been discovered. Before installation

- 300 MB free hard drive space. - Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher (for updating application databases and

application modules from Internet). - Microsoft Windows Installer 2.0 or higher .

- Software Requirements

Microsoft Windows Vista Business/Enterprise/Ultimate (Service Pack 1 or higher), Microsoft Windows Vista Business/Enterprise/Ultimate x64 (Service Pack 1 or higher), Microsoft Windows 7 Professional/Enterprise/Ultimate, Microsoft Windows 7 Professional/Enterprise/Ultimate x64: Intel Pentium 800 MHz 32-bit (x86) / 64-bit (x64) processor, or higher (or a compatible equivalent). Free 512 MB RAM. Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional (Service Pack 4 Rollup1), Microsoft Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 2 or higher), Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 (Service Pack 2 or higher): Intel Pentium 300 MHz 32-bit (x86) / 64-bit (x64) processor, or higher (or a compatible equivalent). Free 256 MB RAM.

Make sure all Microsoft critical security patches has been applied to your computer

Make sure your computer/system time and date is set as current time and date

Make sure there is no other vendor Anti-Virus installed, remove before proceeding with Kaspersky Anti-Virus installation

Select “I accept the terms of the License Agreement” and click Next

For Method 2 installation, click Custom button

Click and expand the Protection Components.

Click on the icon beside Anti-Spam and select “Entire features will be unavailable”. Once finished, click Next.

Internet. This is the default status assigned to the Internet, since when you are on it, your computer is subjected to all potential threat types. This status is also recommended for networks that are not protected by any anti-virus programs, firewalls, filters, etc. When you select this status, the program ensures maximum security while you are using this zone, specifically:

- blocking any network NetBios activity within the subnetwork; - blocking rules for applications and packet filtering that allow NetBios activity

within this subnetwork. Even if you have created a shared folder, the information in it will not be available to users from subnetworks with this status. Additionally, if this status is selected for a certain subnetwork, you will not be able to access files and printers of this subnetwork.

Local Network. The program assigns this status to all zones detected when it analyzes the computer’s network environment, except the Internet. It is recommended to apply this status to zones with an average risk factor (for example, corporate LANs). If you select this status, the program allows:

- any network NetBios activity within the subnetwork; - rules for applications and packet filtering that allow NetBios activity within this

subnetwork.

Installation completed. Click Finish. Kaspersky Anti-Virus will start after your computer has been restarted.

AFTER INSTALLING KASPERSKY ANTI-VIRUS

Your Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 is now running. Mouse over the icon and you can see the Kaspersky Anti-Virus version and signatures date.

Right click on the icon and you can see several option of Kaspersky Anti-Virus. Scan My Computer – Full scan computer manually Virus scan – Scan selected folder by user manually Update – Update anti-virus database signature manually Network Monitor – Shows open port and connection between your computer and another computer Settings – Configure Kaspersky Anti-Virus settings Open Kaspersky Anti-Virus – Open Kaspersky Anti-virus interface Pause Protection – Pause the Kaspersky Anti-Virus process Exit – Stop and close Kaspersky Anti-Virus

Click update, then click Configure…

Click Add

Select “Updates for Kav 6.0 MP4” from the CD-ROM, then click ok.

Make sure its at top and its checked, then click Ok, then click apply and exit settings

Click Update and click Start update.

Click Details to view progress details.

Make sure the correct source its selected. And wait till it completes, then close this window.

Next we’re going to deleted this source update so that in future KAV get updates from

default sources.

Click update, then click Configure…

Select the source (updates for Kav 6.0 MP4) and click delete, then click Ok

This is what you should have at Update source. Then click Ok and exit setting windows.

You can see avp.exe processes of Kaspersky Anti-Virus running in your system.

Click Start Run (or Windows + R) and type in services.msc and click OK

Here you can see the Kaspersky Anti-Virus service is running. SUPPORT INFORMATION In order to get a technical support of product in a case of installation failure and error, these are steps u can do so that u can be assisted effectively by the kaspersky support engineer.

1- Click Start menu Run and type %temp% and press OK

2- Copy and zip (optional) these files and mail it to kaspersky support 3- Files to be copied:

How to provide centralize management of Kaspersky Anti-Virus from Kaspersky Administration Kit Administration Agent (or Network Agent) interacts between Administration Server and Kaspersky Lab anti-virus applications installed on the definite net node (Workstation or server). Network Agent should also be installed for anti-virus local control via Administration Console (e.g. to manage locally Kaspersky Antivirus 6.0 for Windows Workstations or Windows File Servers) Network Agent is installed:

on the client computer to provide connection between Administration Server and the client and/or to manage Antivirus locally;

Network Agent distributive is a part of Kaspersky Administration Kit complex and is common almost for all applications which can be managed remotely.
