Prince of Wales Public School New Elevator & Renovation
ADDENDUM NO. 3 This addendum shall form an integral part of the bid documents for the above noted Tender and shall be read in conjunction therewith. This addendum shall, however, take precedence over all requirements as it pertains to the particular and specific items noted below.
Part 1 – Answers to Questions Question 1: New Roller shades are noted on the drawings; however, they are not in the
specifications. Please confirm if they are required. Answer 1: See specification 12 24 00 “Window Shades” in Addendum No 1, prepared by AECOM
Canada Architects Ltd, attached. Question 2: Coat and Hat Racks are in the specifications; however, the drawings show individual
hooks. Please confirm which option to use. Answer 2: Use coat hooks as specified. Delete specification section 10 91 13 “Miscellaneous
Specialties”. Question 3: Detail 13/A601 shows 3 custom cushions. Can an allowance be added as there are no
specifications on the cushions? Answer 3: The Cash Allowance value in the Bidding System has been increased from $3,000.00 to
$4,500.00 to allow for the cushions. Question 4: Detail 1/A206 shows a painted detail on the floor. Our paint contractor is suggesting an
epoxy paint to ensure durability. Answer 4: Use epoxy paint for field and border colour. Product BEHR Premium, Concrete &
Garage, self-priming, 1-part Epoxy, Statin finish, or approved equal. Install as per manufacturers recommendations. Allow for 2 colours.
Question 5: For LULA elevator, it appears there is an intermediate stop but I am not sure what you
would call the level. The drawings show ground level, first floor, and second floor but there is an intermediate stop between the ground level and the first floor on the opposite side of the cab. Is there a basement level, ground level, 1st and 2nd floor? Could you clarify as the specification just shows the maximum number of stops and it doesn’t tell you the number of stops and the drawings do not identify the intermediate stop.
Answer 5: There are 3 stops (floors) at the front door and 1 stop (exterior grade) at the rear door.
Total 4 stops. See Elevator Section 1/A205. Question 6: If the tender closing is going to proceed without a site meeting, can you make a cash
allowance for refinishing of millwork and hardwood floors? Answer 6: The cash allowance will not be increased to include the work described above. Review
Room Finish Schedule and notes #1 thru #9 below the schedule.

Question 7: DWG E301 Detail 1 Luminaire Schedule: Can we please provide equals to manufacturers listed here? As not all the manufacturers are the same.
Answer 7: Equivalent products will be subject to consultant review and approval. Question 8: DWG E204 Detail 3: Please provide manufacturer and part number for exit signs. Answer 8: T&B Emergilite ES series, ES-2-W-U-VR (for double face) or ES-1-W-U-VR (for single
face) or approved equals. Question 9: Detail 1/A202 RCP- In the classrooms can you clarify how the outside of C1 are being
terminated, as they are being dropped below the plaster ceilings. Answer 9: Install extruded aluminum trim around perimeter of suspended ceilings in the four
classrooms. 4” high Compasso Standard, colour ‘white’ by USG-CGC. Question 10: Please provide a floor tile for pricing. Answer 10: Floor tile to be equal to Olympia Spectra series. Allow for two colours. Question 11: The following elevator company is asking to be added to the tender specification:

Answer 12: Cabinet doors to be MDF, Shaker style, painted. Question 13: Typical elevation notes are to “sand and paint wood base.” Should this be “sand and

.1 Supply and install manually operated roller shades at all windows, except as noted on drawings.Provide all components as needed for a complete and proper installation.
.2 Remove and dispose of all existing window coverings and hardware.
1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE
.1 Use adequate numbers of skilled workers who are thoroughly trained and experienced in thenecessary crafts and who are completely familiar with the specific requirements and methodsneeded for proper performance of the work in this Section.
1.4 SUBMITTALS
.1 Submit list of proposed materials.
.2 Submit manufacturer=s specifications, product data, and other data needed to prove compliance
with the specified requirements.
.3 Shop drawings shall include sufficient detail to show fabrication, installation, anchorage, electricaland control wiring, and interface of work of this section with the work of adjacent trades. Indicatefield measurements on shop drawings.
.4 Manufacturer=s recommended installation procedure. Construct one complete light proof window
shade with attachments and accessories for approval by Owner which, when approved by theOwner will become the basis for accepting or rejecting actual installation procedures used on thework.
.5 Fabric to be flame retardant. Provide proof of compliance with CAN/ULC S109, Flame Tests ofFlame-Resistant Fabrics and Films, small scale vertical burn requirements test.
.6 Submit fabric samples for colour selection by the Owner.
.7 Provide printed operation and maintenance instructions to Owner.
1.5 WARRANTY
.1 Provide a warranty for an extended period of three (3) years from date of completion againstmechanical and fabric failure (including fabric fading) under normal conditions.

2.1 WINDOW SHADES
.1 Manual shades shall be roller blind system with smooth operation chain and sprocket roller asmanufactured by Shade-O-Matic Products Ltd., or pre tender approved equivalent.
.2 Provide system with easy lift (chain operated) action with infinite positioning. Left or right handoperation to be determined on site.
.3 Provide fully factory assembled shade unit consisting of two end brackets, shade tube, fascia(where specified), hem bar, drive chain and specified fabric.
.1 Mounting type: Wall mounted above frame opening, or on block opening inside butnever on window frame.
.2 Removal must not require the disassembly of the shade units.

.4 End Brackets
.1 70 x 83mm end bracket shall be made of 16 gauge enameled galvanized steel capable ofbeing mounted in any position.
.2 Clutch and bracket shall have multi-channel chain control and guide insert.
.3 The idle-end bracket shall have a means of leveling the shade after installation, the screwshall provide infinite leveling degrees.
.4 Bracket colour shall coordinate with fabric colour.
.5 Shade Tube
.1 38mm extruded anodized aluminum shade tube shall be 1.52mm thick with three internalcontinuous fins 4.82mm high, for strength and drive capabilities when attached to thenylon sprocket.
.2 The fins shall be spaced 120 degrees apart.
.3 The tube shall incorporate an integral channel for affixing the shade band to the tube viaa spine.
.6 Fascia (Optional as noted on Drawings)
.1 Extruded anodized aluminum fascia shall be 1.7mm thick, squared design, to coverunderside of assembly.
.2 Finish shall be anodized aluminum or painted baked enamel.
.7 Drive Assembly
.1 Shall be factory set for size and travel of shades.
.2 Capable of being field adjusted from the exterior of the shade unit without having todisassemble the hardware.
.3 Provide with built-in shock absorber system to prevent chain breakage, under normalusage conditions.
.8 Drive Chain
.1 No. 10 stainless steel bead chain formed in a continuous loop. Chain shall have a 90#test strength.
.9 Exterior Hembar
.1 Extruded aluminum, clear anodized, with plastic end finials. Hembar to be fully enclosedin hem and non removable.
2.2 OPAQUE FABRIC (CLASSROOMS)
.1 Sun block / duplex room darkening 12 oz fibreglass
.2 Seams, if required, shall be equally spaced vertically to form material in equal widths. Location asper drawings.
.3 Fabric shall hang flat, without buckling or distortion. Edge, when trimmed, shall hang straight,without raveling. An unguided shade cloth shall roll true and straight, without shifting sidewaysmore than 3mm in either direction due to warp distortion or weave design.
.4 Fabric shall be woven vinyl coated polyester, dimensionally stable and flame retardant, inaccordance with CAN/ULC S-109 small scale vertical burn test.

3.2 INSTALLATION
.1 Co-ordinate as required with the Owner as to hours of work.
.2 Install the work of this section in strict accordance with approved Shop Drawings, pertinentrequirements of Government Agencies having jurisdiction, and the manufacturer=s recommended
installation procedures as approved by the Owner, anchoring all components firmly into positionfor long life.
.3 Install the work plumb, level and in proper operating condition.
.4 Upon completion of the installation, put each operating component through at least five completecycles, adjust as required to achieve optimum operation.
.5 Touch up scratches and blemishes to any damaged existing finishes.

1. PART A - GENERAL
1.1. CODES AND STANDARDS
1.1.1. COMPLETE THE INSTALLATION OF THE WORK IN ACCORDANCE WITH
THE LATEST EDITIONS OF THE ONTARIO BUILDING CODE, ONTARIO ELECTRICAL
SAFETY CODE (O.E.S.C.), U.L.C., C.S.A., I.E.E.E., N.E.M.A., N.F.P.A., O.H.S.A. AND
OTHER CODES AS REQUIRED. COMPLY WITH ELECTRICAL AND BUILDING CODE
BULLETINS IN FORCE AT TIME OF BID SUBMISSION. WHILE NOT IDENTIFIED AND
SPECIFIED BY NUMBER IN THIS DIVISION, THEY ARE TO BE CONSIDERED AS
FORMING PART OF RELATED STANDARDS. ALL ELECTRICAL WORK SHALL
COMPLY WITH OWNER'S REQUIREMENTS AND BASE BUILDING STANDARDS.
1.2. EXISTING CONDITIONS
1.2.1. VISIT THE SITE AND EXAMINE THE EXISTING CONDITIONS AFFECTING

AND MANUFACTURED TO THE STANDARDS SPECIFIED.
1.5.2. WHERE THERE IS NO ALTERNATIVE TO SUPPLYING EQUIPMENT
WHICH IS NOT C.S.A. CERTIFIED, OBTAIN SPECIAL APPROVAL FROM THE
ELECTRICAL SAFETY AUTHORITY AND CONSULTANT.
1.6. DEMOLITION
1.6.1. REFER TO SECTION 02 41 19 - SELECTIVE DEMOLITION FOR OVERALL
SCOPE RELATED TO THIS ITEM.
1.7. PERMITS AND FEES
1.7.1. THE ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL ACT AS THE OWNER'S AGENT
IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 2 OF THE O.E.S.C. AND SHALL IMMEDIATELY
UPON AWARD OF CONTRACT, SUBMIT TO THE LOCAL ELECTRICAL INSPECTION
DEPARTMENT, THE NECESSARY NUMBER OF DOCUMENTS FOR EXAMINATION,
SPECIAL INSPECTION AND APPROVAL, PRIOR TO THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE
WORK, AND PAY ALL COSTS AND ASSOCIATED FEES. IF REQUIRED, PREPARE
ANY ADDITIONAL DRAWINGS/DOCUMENTS REQUIRED BY THE AUTHORITY.
1.7.2. THE CONSULTANT WILL PROVIDE UPON REQUEST, AT THE
CONTRACTOR'S COST, THE REQUIRED QUANTITY OF DRAWINGS.
1.7.3. PROVIDE CERTIFICATES(S) OF ACCEPTANCE FROM THE
AUTHORITIES INSPECTION DEPARTMENT, UPON COMPLETION OF WORK.
1.8. INSURANCE
1.8.1. PROVIDE AND MAINTAIN INSURANCE TO PROTECT THE OWNER AND
TRADES FROM ALL POSSIBLE CLAIMS. SUBMIT WITH BID FOR AN AMOUNT
ACCEPTABLE TO OWNER. ALSO ALL INSURANCE AS NOTED WITHIN
ARCHITECTURAL REQUIREMENTS.
1.9. CONTRACT DOCUMENTS
1.9.1. THE DRAWINGS FOR THE ELECTRICAL WORK ARE DIAGRAMMATIC
ONLY, INTENDED TO CONVEY THE SCOPE OF WORK AND INDICATE THE
GENERAL ARRANGEMENT AND APPROXIMATE SIZE AND LOCATION OF
ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT. THE DRAWINGS DO NOT INTEND TO SHOW
ARCHITECTURAL, INTERIOR DESIGN, MECHANICAL, STRUCTURAL OR BASE
BUILDING DETAILS. BE RESPONSIBLE FOR A THOROUGH KNOWLEDGE OF SAME
BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH THE WORK.
1.9.2. DO NOT SCALE OR MEASURE ELECTRICAL DRAWINGS, BUT OBTAIN
INFORMATION REGARDING ACCURATE DIMENSIONS FROM THE DIMENSIONS
SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS, OR BY SITE REQUIREMENTS/CONDITIONS.
1.9.3. ANY DISCREPANCIES BETWEEN DRAWINGS AND/OR SPECIFICATIONS
AND EXISTING CONDITIONS, MUST BE REFERRED TO THE CONSULTANT BEFORE
ANY WORK AFFECTED IS BEGUN.
1.9.4. MAKE, AT NO ADDITIONAL COST, ANY CHANGES OR ADDITIONS TO
MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT NECESSARY TO ACCOMMODATE STRUCTURAL
CONDITIONS (OFFSETS AROUND BEAMS, COLUMN, ETC.)
1.10. INTENT
IT IS THE INTENT OF THESE DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONS THAT THE
CONTRACTOR PROVIDES COMPLETE AND OPERATIONAL SYSTEMS AS
REQUIRED, WHERE DIFFERENCES OCCUR, CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTACT
ENGINEER OF RECORD FOR FURTHER CLARIFICATION.
1.10.1. ANY MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS, HARDWARE, DEVICES, WIRING, ETC.,
NOT SPECIFICALLY DESCRIBED, BUT REQUIRED FOR THE OPERATION OF THE
SYSTEM, MUST BE PROVIDED AND INCLUDED AS PART OF THE CONTRACT
PRICE.
1.11. SHOP DRAWINGS
1.11.1. "SHOP DRAWINGS" SHALL INCLUDE DRAWINGS, DIAGRAMS,
ILLUSTRATIONS, SCHEDULES, PERFORMANCE, CHARTS, BROCHURES, AND
OTHER DATA WHICH ARE TO BE PROVIDED BY CONTRACTOR TO ILLUSTRATE
DETAILS OF WORK UNDER CONTRACT. INDICATE ALL REQUIRED ACCESSORIES
AND ANCHORAGES FOR COMPLETION OF WORK.
1.11.2. SUBMIT SHOP DRAWINGS IN ELECTRONIC FORMAT TO CONSULTANT
FOR REVIEW WITHIN TWO (2) WEEKS OF PROJECT AWARD. CLEARLY IDENTIFY
ANY LONG LEAD ITEMS OR CRITICAL PATH ITEMS. SHOP DRAWINGS SHALL BE
REVIEWED, STAMPED, AND SIGNED BY THE ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR PRIOR
TO SUBMISSION TO THE CONSULTANT. SHOP DRAWINGS NOT REVIEWED SHALL
BE REJECTED. REVIEW SHALL INCLUDE AT MINIMUM EQUIPMENT
PERFORMANCE, DIMENSIONS, CLEARANCES, COLOURS/FINISHES, ELECTRICAL
REQUIREMENTS INCLUDING VOLTAGES AND RATINGS, AND COORDINATION WITH
EXISTING SITE CONDITIONS.
1.11.3. SUBMIT FOUR (4) COPIES OF SHOP DRAWINGS OF ALL SPECIFIED

1.13 ENGINEERS INSPECTIONS
1.13.1. CONTRACTOR SHALL ARRANGE FOR INSPECTIONS BY THE
CONSULTANT PRIOR TO CEILINGS AND/OR WALLS BEING CLOSED IN. PROVIDE
MINIMUM THREE (3) BUSINESS DAYS' NOTICE. WHERE PROPER NOTICE OR
ARRANGEMENTS HAVE NOT BEEN MADE, CONTRACTOR SHALL OPEN UP ANY
WALLS, CHASES, OR CEILINGS AS REQUIRED FOR FULL AND ADEQUATE
INSPECTION BY THE CONSULTANT.
1.13.2. FINAL INSPECTION IS IMPERATIVE. CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTACT
CONSULTANT AND THE OWNER'S EXISTING REPRESENTATIVE TO PERFORM A
FINAL INSPECTION. ENSURE THAT ALL NEW INSTALLATION PERFORMED IS NOT
OBSTRUCTED FOR INSPECTION. AND ALL NOTED DEFICIENCIES ARE
CORRECTED TO OWNERS/CONSULTANT SATISFACTION.
1.14 PROGRESS PAYMENTS
1.14.1 PROVIDE DETAILED PROGRESS DRAW BREAKDOWN INCLUDING
MATERIALS AND LABOURS FOR ALL DIVISIONS AND SUB-TRADES. SUBMIT
DRAFT TO CONSULTANT FOR REVIEW PRIOR TO FIRST INVOICE. INCLUDE
MINIMUM $2,000.00 FOR CLOSEOUTS INCLUDING O&M MANUALS AND AS-BUILT
DRAWINGS. CLOSEOUTS LINE ITEM SHALL REMAIN UNBILLED UNTIL O&M
MANUALS AND AS-BUILT DRAWINGS HAVE BEEN SUBMITTED AND APPROVED BY
THE CONSULTANT.
1.15 OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE DOCUMENTATION

NEW WIRING WHEN NOT IN CONDUIT. USE PROPER TOOLS FOR PUNCH DOWN ON
EXISTING BIX PANEL FOR ALL WIRING.
2.13.3.6. P.A., TESTING: PERFORM TESTING AND COMMISSIONING,
ADJUSTMENTS TO EXISTING PROGRAMMING AS REQUIRED, VERIFICATION AND
CERTIFICATION OF THE SYSTEM. MAKE ANY CORRECTIONS AT NO COST TO THE
OWNER. PROVIDE FINAL REPORT TO CONSULTANT FOR REVIEW. REPORT TO
INCLUDE TEST DETAILS FOR ALL LINES INDICATING CONTINUITY, SHORTS AND
GROUND. INCLUDE RESULTS OF IMPEDANCE TESTING AT EACH SPEAKER.
2.13.3.7. SECURITY WIRING: USE EXISTING COMMUNICATIONS CONDUIT
WHERE POSSIBLE OR USE J-HOOKS FOR RUNNING NEW WIRING WHEN NOT IN
CONDUIT. PROVIDE HOME RUNS FROM DEVICES TO MAIN SECURITY CONTROL
PANEL. INSTALL DEVICES AND WIRING AS PER MANUFACTURER REQUIREMENT.

CROSS CONNECT. ALL CABLING MUST BE 24AWG CAT6 100-OHM BALANCED
UNSHIELDED TWISTED PAIR, FT6 RATED, BLUE OUTER SHEATH FOR BOTH VOICE
AND DATA. FACEPLATES TO MOUNT UP TO SIX (6) JACKS IN A SINGLE GANG AND
UP TO NINE (9) JACKS IN A DOUBLE GANG. JACKS SHALL BE 8-POSITIONED
UNKEYED WITH 94 V0 RATING. ALL DROPS SHALL BE CLEARLY LABELED ON THE
PATCH PANEL AND CABLE BOX. PROVIDE YELLOW FOR VOICE AND GREEN FOR
DATA. PROVIDE HOME RUN CABLING TO MAIN SWITCH FROM EACH WIRELESS
ACCESS POINT. ALLOW ENOUGH LENGTH OF CABLE AT EACH END (PATCH
PANEL AND OUTLET) TO ALLOW RELOCATING CABLING IN THE FUTURE.
PROVIDE 4' AND 6' PATCH CABLES AT WORK WORK STATION END AS REQUIRED
TO SUIT THE INSTALLATION. COORDINATE WITH OWNER. FOR EACH ACCESS
POINT, CONTRACTOR TO ALLOW FOR NEW HOMERUN CABLE BACK TO THE MAIN
CONTROL PANEL FOR POSSIBLE RELOCATION.
2.13.3.13. COMMUNICATIONS TESTING: TEST ALL DROPS FOR DATA
TRANSMISSION REQUIREMENTS PER APPLICABLE STANDARDS AND PROVIDE
REPORT TO CONSULTANT.
2.13.3.14. COORDINATE WITH OWNER AND MANUFACTURER FOR ALL
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS, STANDARDS AND RECOMMENDATIONS PRIOR TO
COMMENCING WORK ON P.A., COMMUNICATIONS AND SECURITY.
2.13.3.15. CONTRACTOR SHALL RE-PROGRAM ON EACH SYSTEM (P.A.,
COMMUNICATIONS, SECURITY) AFTER COMPLETION OF INSTALLATION AND
PERFORM TESTING FOR OPERATIONAL READINESS. PROVIDE TEST REPORTS TO
CONSULTANT FOR REVIEW. COORDINATE SCOPE EXTENT OF PROGRAMMING
WITH THE OWNER
