The collection Metalloid was inspired

by Ashley’s fascination with dilapidated

factories from the Industrial Revoltion.

“The once shiny, well oiled machines, decaying and ridden with rust, now transform naturally as

they would in nature.”

This state of change is represented best

by the Metalloids of the Periodic Table of

Elements.

The collection resembles the

“in between“ of a metal element and cloth.

Danny Tang was inspired by the

menswear of the glamourous Old Hollywood. The hard tuxedo style

conveys confidence and independence,

but at the same time shows soft flirtatious

silhouettes, recalling the femininity and

grace of musical movie stars and singers.

The concept is based on a modern

reinterpretation of the Broadway mood,

or in other words - from Broadway stage to everyday life.

Danny’s icon is Fred Astaire, whose style

resonated with 20s, 30s and 40s fashion.

“After spending many summers working

and living in a small seaside village

in New England I learned about the

beautiful and seedy side of paradise. Many people that live by

the ocean are dependent on the ocean to

make a living and in turn their lives are

controlled by the tide.

Despite of or maybe because of this

connection to nature, they are carefree

and seem to float in and out of days

gracefully.With this connection to nature

comes an uncertainty and instability. This

collection is about capturing the duplicity

of paradise.”

“The initial inspiration behind this

collection was structures by the artist

Patrick Dougherty composed of twigs.

I was fascinated by the soundness of the

sculpture which was made from such

delicate materials. This relationship between stability and delicacy became my main concept.

As I began to explore using the form, I

discovered the amazing shapes that could

be made from accordion pleated fabric.

The delicacy of chiffon and the stability

of wool jersey became the perfect analogy

for my pieces.”

The collection is built around facades

- the ones you can’t see - the contrast

between psychological aspects - feminine

and visually strong garments, with a love

for the organic process.

Contrast is one of the recurrent themes

of the duo’s work: open vs. closed, the

fragile, the mysterious, the hidden and

the completely delicate and fine, complimented by the very dark and raw. Every piece in the

collection is made entirely of natural

materials (100% cotton, wool, cashmere,

silk, leather) and many styles consist of

handcrafted elements.
