ORDER IS IMPORTANT
JANUARY TASKS
• Mark current students for reenrollment→ Mark for Reenrollment Wizard in The
Education Edge (should be done before reenrollment contracts are sent out)
• Setup school information for next academic year
→ Make sure that decisions about timetables and marking columns are made before creating the new academic year.
→ Copy Course Information in The Education Edge to the new academic year. You may also copy class information to the new year if your schedule does not change much.
January
FEBRUARY & MARCH TASKS
• Prepare and Distribute contracts for next year’s returning students
→ Can be done on paper OR → With Online Reenrollment (electronic
submissions). Be sure to research rules for electronic signatures.
• Gather student course requests for next year
→ Can be done on paper OR → With Online Course Requests in
NetClassroom• Gather information about teaching
assignments for next year→ How to handle teaching vacancies for
next year.
February March
APRIL TASKS
• Bring in new, incoming students with a special status
→ Enroll Applications Wizard in The Education Edge
• Enter student course requests into The Education Edge
• Build preliminary schedules for next academic year (can be done during summer months but consider doing this early if you rebuild your schedule of classes every year)
→ Manual Scheduling OR → Automated Scheduling using Generate
Master Schedule and Generate Student Schedules in The Education Edge
April
MAY & JUNE TASKS
• Publish next years schedule (optional)→ Print schedules→ View schedules in NetClassroom
• Process final grades for the current year and print report cards
→ Print report cards→ View report cards in NetClassroom
• Promote students to the next grade level and check enrollment numbers
→ End of Year Processing Wizard in The Education Edge
May June
JULY TASKS
• Enter missing or changed information on student records (i.e. lockers, advisors, etc.)
→ Globally change records in The Education Edge
• Process medical forms and other required student information
→ Forms can be done through Online Reenrollment
• Build admissions form for new applicants
• Online Admissions
July
AUGUST TASKS
• Add new student and new parent records into the development software
→ Integration with The Raiser’s Edge • Launch admissions forms for new
applicants→ Online Admissions
• Publish final schedules for faculty and students
→ Print schedules→ Viewable in Faculty Access for the Web
(for teachers) and NetClassroom (for students)

If
1. If you use multiple databases plan to spend time doing data clean up every year
2. If you use online forms for contracts or for collecting important information, be sure to understand rules regarding electronic signatures
3. Always communicate with other database power users before executing large processes (i.e. scheduling scenarios, end of year processing, etc.)
4. Talk to Blackbaud power users at other schools
5. Use Blackbaud Support as often as you need to
