AUCNET1.A forerunner in e-Commerce that started on-line transaction of used cars in the 1980s, i.e., before internet, by satellite based system.

2.A B2B transaction system connecting used car dealers to exchange inventory to meet end-user needs of each.

3.A BIG mystery to this day… On-line transaction is much bigger for used cars than for new cars…Common sense says that it would be easier to sell new cars than used cars.

Value of AUCNET1.Question: Why do you think used cars more suitable for on-line transactions than new cars?

Hint: On-line trading nationalized what used to be a localized market. What does greater area coverage do to used car transaction?

2.Question: What does AUCNET do to realize the value?

Hint: What does AUCNET do to generate trust among buyers and sellers?

Fundamental Question:

What is AUCNET’s product/service?

How does AUCNET deliver?

AUCNET migrated from physical delivery of laser discs (this would be equivalent of DVD) to satellite.

Question: What is the advantage of the satellite based systems versus the laser disc system?

Question: Can you think of any disadvantages of the satellite based system?

Revenue Model

1.AUCNET has been able to charge over US $200 for successful matching/processing of transactions. This is very high considering on-line stock trading systems charge only a few dollars. Why is this possible?

Services



ActivitiesITB Business Incubator Center selecting potential knowledge/technology based business ideas or start up company to be its tenant. Each tenant will follow the incubation process for about 2-3 years, depends on the maturity of their business

ITB Business Incubator Center do partnership with other institutions in promoting new invention through business matching, exhibition, roundtable (focus group) discussion on art, energy, manufacture, pharmacy, oil and gas, etc.
