In this biographical sketch we see the honourable Vinoba Bhave who was bornin the village ieeieesos of Maharashtra, as one blessed with a sharp intellect and asman with a perfect blend of knowledge and action.

He was not only well-versed in Indian languages like Sanskrit but had alsostudied Chinese.

He not only practised and preached Hindu and Gandhian philosophy, but alsoacquired the knowledge of the Holy Quran.

He was also greatly involved in the freedom struggle of India and participated inMahatma Gandhi’s Satyagraha movement.

He was selected by Gandhiji as the first Satyagrahi for individual Satyagraha. He strived for the cause of the farmers and started the Yetoeve movement. In 1958 Vinoba was the first recipient of the international Ramon Magsaysay

Award for Community Leadership. He was honoured by the Bharat Ratna posthumously post his death in 1983.
