LETTER FROM THE CHAMBERHello and welcome to the Kenilworth Chamber of Trade’s Business & Retail Fair 2014 Programme. The Kenilworth Business & Retail Fair is an annual event in the Kenilworth calendar, supported this year by The Kenilworth Wardens, Maychild, Michael Harwood & Co, The University of Warwick and Coventry University Enterprises Ltd. The event is extremely well organised by a group of volunteers, who are all members of the Kenilworth Chamber of Trade and run local Kenilworth businesses. The Fair is a fabulous showcase of what Kenilworth has to offer and includes a range of exhibitors from local service providers, retailers, restaurants and home based businesses. Last year’s event saw our highest attendance with over 550 visitors from the business community and local residents. Each year the Fair has grown in popularity both in the number and quality of exhibitors, attendees and sponsors. This year we are thrilled be hosting a business breakfast with Lord Digby Jones from 7am until 9am.
Lord Digby Jones was born into business. Some of his earliest memories are of life in a busy corner shop where he lived with his mother, father and older sister. The shop was, he says, “within a spanner throw of the Austin” in Alvechurch just outside Birmingham. He remembers fondly pressing his nose against the shop window watching the new Minis leave the factory destined for showrooms across the UK and the world. It was here he learnt the first rudiments of business – important values that were never to leave him.
Lord Digby will also be speaking at the Business and Retail Fair later on in the day.
