Founded in 1974, Kennedy Marr is a specialist shipbroking group serving the international offshore oil and gas industry from offices in London, Bergen, Singapore and Dalian.
Our clients include oil companies, offshore contractors, offshore vessel owners, shipyards and financial institutions. We provide our clients with broking services for chartering, sale and purchase, newbuilding and contracting of mobile offshore assets. We also provide valuations and commercial consultancy services.

Chartering
In-depth market knowledge and a dedication to service our clients’ requirements efficiently and professionally means we are very active in putting together charter deals, both time charter and bareboat, especially in the global construction and support vessel markets.
In recent years, we have been particularly involved in the Gulf of Mexico, West African and Asian regions where we have many high specification construction and support vessels on long term charter.

sale and Purchase
Negotiating the sale and purchase of offshore vessels is another of our core competencies. We regularly broker deals of second-hand vessels and the resale of vessels under construction at shipyards. Selling mature assets to breakers for recycling is another area in which we are involved.
We keep comprehensive databases of all the sectors in which we work and our extensive worldwide contacts within the industry mean we are very well placed to bring parties together and see transactions through from inception to the physical delivery of the vessel.
A significant proportion of the deals in which we are involved are concluded on a private, off-market basis.

newbuilding Contracting
Enjoying excellent relationships with many shipyards and offshore fabrication facilities around the world, Kennedy Marr frequently assists clients with newbuilding projects. In Asia, our Dalian office is very active in helping clients to place newbuilding orders at Chinese shipyards.
Often we are appointed on an exclusive basis to handle owners’ newbuilding requirements: from primary market research, prequalifying exercises, ITT documentation, yard selection, contract negotiations right through to delivery.
Monitoring new designs, price trends, special yard situations and interesting financing opportunities, our brokers are constantly providing clients with creative and opportunistic newbuilding ideas.
Other services include assisting clients with the construction of items such as topsides modules and offshore cranes as well as advising on the commercial aspects of conversion work at shipyards.

Consultancy
Kennedy Marr Limited is widely regarded as an expert in the field of commercial consultancy and valuations of complex offshore marine assets.
We regularly perform valuation work for most of the leading banks which finance offshore units as well as doing fleet valuations for several offshore owners and contractors.
In challenging market conditions, we provide financial institutions with advisory and brokerage services in distressed sale situations.
We also undertake bespoke market reports and commercial consultancy on an ad hoc basis, as well as expert witness work in legal proceedings.
Our close dialogue with banks lending to the offshore sector means we are also able to advise and assist clients with financing their projects.

Drilling rigs
We have been engaged in the drilling rig sector since 1974. The primary activity has been brokering the sales of second-hand semisubmersibles, jack-ups and drillships.
The rig markets have been noted for their cyclicality which has led to the entrance and exit of many participants, considerable merger activity and corporate restructuring.
Other deals we have concluded in the rig market include fleet sales, bareboat charters and sale and lease back transactions.

Construction and support Vessels
Kennedy Marr is a global market leader in the brokerage of dynamically-positioned (DP) support vessels engaged in offshore roles such as subsea construction, pipelay, diving, ROV support, well intervention, cable lay, anchor handling and supply duties.
Other prominent areas of expertise include large specialised barges, both anchored and DP, engaged in topsides heavy-lift operations and pipelay.
The accommodation support market is another in which we specialise, both traditional moored barges for benign areas as well as DP semis and monohull units, for which there is an increasing demand in deeper waters and harsher environments.

Mobile Production units
Kennedy Marr has been a force in mobile production since 1993. We maintain highly detailed databases of all FPSOs, other production units and FSOs and constantly monitor redeployment prospects of existing units and the potential for modification and lease on other fields. Work undertaken for oil companies has included first stage short-listing of production contractors, including the growing number of new entrants and those aspiring to be lease contractors in this sector.
We are also involved in the sale and purchase of FPSOs/FSOs and both jack-up and semisubmersible production units. We regularly work for clients who need to acquire tankers for eventual use in the offshore arena, most typically for conversion to FPSO. Our unique strength in this market is our specialist in-depth experience within one small team of both the tanker and offshore sides of the business.
Advisory and brokerage services for FPSO conversion and module fabrication projects are also provided.

liftboats
Kennedy Marr has been a pioneering force in the internationalisation of self-propelled jack-up barges, also known as liftboats.
Liftboats are predominantly used in maintenance roles to service fixed platforms offshore. These units are also widely used for accommodation support, construction and as a base for well-servicing operations. In the renewables markets they are also increasingly being used for wind farm maintenance.
Kennedy Marr has been involved in numerous newbuilding projects, sales and long term charters for this type of vessel.

Wind Farm Vessels
Kennedy Marr assists clients in sourcing specialised vessels for the renewables and offshore wind farm sector for each phase of project development including:
- Geotechnical survey- Cable lay- Installation of foundations, turbines and substations- Operations and maintenance
Kennedy Marr provides chartering, purchase or newbuilding services in relation to vessels to perform each of these activities.
