1st August 2018

‘No Where is far in a TR!’

Lincolnshire – 5 members andpartners took advantage of the IWEand stayed the week along with 2Wyedean members and partners –visits to East Kirkby home of Just Janeand RAF Scampton home of the RedArrows & Dambusters, Vulcans werejust part of the week as well asenjoying the very sunny seaside towns

Notcutts – 7 members and partnersattended the 2nd Notcutts classic ona very vary hot Sunday, an excellentdisplay of over 260 classics werepresent alongside stalls and ofcourse the open Garden centre



Harpendon Classic - Three cars fromKVG went to Harpendon for the Classicson the Common on Wednesday 25 July.Fiona & Bill in Patience, Karen & Mark intheir TR6 and Moreen & Gerry in theirStag. It was extremely hot, but in spiteof that, the event was very wellsupported by the public, considering itwas a week day.

RAF Benson – 6 Kennet Valley TRGroup members joined Chiltern,Windsor Forest & Vale of WhiteHorse at RAF Benson Family andtheir celebrations of RAF100 onThursday 26th July, probably thelast of the scorching hot days ofJuly. Kennet Valley TR Group


Silverstone Classic – 4 KVG membersand partners attended this ever popularevent. For those of you who haven’tbeen to this event, I stronglyrecommend it, superb petrol headevent, you can get right in the pits withthe iconic racing cars of yesteryear,watch super wheel to wheel racing andenjoy wandering around the stalls andstands, and of course take in that greatambience of this historic circuit.

Newbury 11th & 12th August

Kennet Valley TR Group will again besupporting this ever popular classic show,this year, West Berkshire Classic VehicleClub celebrate there 26th Annual ClassicVehicle Show in Newbury and with our helpthey hope to beat last year's show wherethey raised over £17,590.18

Kennet Valley TR Group has booked 15 placesfor the Saturday/Sunday at RetroFest,Newbury, the cost is £10 per car for theweekend. On site 9am till 6pm. We need tocollect money and give RetroFest a list of theClub Cars displaying each day. It is a two-dayevent, and we are expecting us to have carson pitch both days.

Taplow CourtTaplow Court is a large Victorian house in the villageof Taplow in Buckinghamshire, which has served asthe national headquarters for the Soka GakkaiInternational of the United Kingdom (SGI-UK) since1988. The Taplow burial, a 7th-century Anglo-Saxonburial mound, is in the grounds of the house, nearthe parish church which is scenically positioned on ahill directly above Maidenhead Bridge and the town'sriverside district.Starting at 10-10:30 with Brunch at Theale Golf Clubthen leaving on the run circa 11:30 to arrive 13:30-14:00

TR Register News

TR Register Chairman – Resignation

“As the Chairman of the TR Register, one has to act not only to keep the club within thelaw, but also with due regard to protecting its image and integrity. Separating personalissues from club responsibilities is not always easy and I inadvertently entered into aprivate transaction that compromised the integrity of the TR Register Car Club.

Therefore, in order to protect the reputation of the TR Register Car Club and its officers, I have volunteered my resignation from the Board of Directors with immediate effect. I would like to take this opportunity to state that my resignation is entirely my own decision and has been made without any undue pressure from my fellow Directors, whom I thank unreservedly for their understanding of the situation.“

Vice Chairman and Membership Director, Allan Westbury will stand in as acting Chairman until the Annual General Meeting on 25th November 2018 and work by the management team and staff at the club will continue as normal. No further statements will be made at this time.

Bob Tullius ran and drove for Group 44, the mostsuccessful road racing team of the 1960s - 1980s.Beginning his racing career in a TR3 in 1961 hewent on to race most of the iconic British sports cars.His TR resume includes victories in TR4s, TR250s,TR6s and as he revealed, his favourite TR, the TR8.Bob Tullius' career saw him rack up over 300victories across 3 of the most competitive series, theSCCA, IMSA GTP and SCCA Trans Am Pro. He isalso credited with taking Jaguar back to Le Mansafter a 30-year hiatus, long before the TomWalkinshaw prepared, Silk Cut and Castrolsponsored cars had even been considered.
