Day 1 : NairobiIf you are arriving at Nairobi’s Jomo KenyattaInternational Airport you will be met by yourdriver guide and taken directly to your hotelin the Karen suburbs. Overnight - Nairobi

Day 2 : Giraffe Centre &Elephant Orphanage

Nairobi - Elementaita. After breakfast at thehotel, our driver guide will collect and transferus to the Giraffe centre which offers the uniqueexperience of hand-feeding these gentle giantsat eye level from a raised platform, whilewatching the warthogs below snuffle aroundlooking for titbits. The centre is the headquartersof the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife(AFEW) which was setup to raise money torelocate the endangered Rothschild giraffe tosafe areas. After about an hour here, we travelon to the Daphne Sheldrick’s Centre and visit themany baby elephants that have been rescuedfrom threatening situations in Kenya’s variousnational parks and even get a chance to see thecalves being fed and playing with the staff.

Next stop is the Karen Blixen Museum: a chanceto go back in time and discover the famousKaren Blixen’s house exactly as it was when shelived in Kenya. Located in an area which wasonce part of Karen Blixen’s vast coffee estate,‘bogani’, the museum was Karen’s home from1917 until 1931.The house and grounds weremade famous by the film ‘Out of Africa ’andhave been restored by the Danish community ofKenya. Visitors have a glimpse of typical coloniallife in Kenya at the turn of the twentieth century.After lunch at the lovely Karen Blixen CoffeeGardens, we depart on the next part ofour adventure that takes us from the hustleand bustle of Nairobi city to the small butbeautiful soda ash lake located in the famousGreat Rift Valley, named Lake Elementaita. LakeElementaita is home to numerous flamingosand over 400 species of birds.

Our base for the next two nights is Sunbirdlodge which provides comfortable and eco-

friendly luxury in a wonderfully picturesquesetting that is quiet and uninterrupted. TheLodge overlooks Lake Elementaita and hasfabulous bird life. Each private bungalow isfitted with huge glass sliding doors with animpeccable view, large bed and huge shower.

Day 3 : Elementaita & Nakuru

Elementaita - Lake Nakuru - Elementaita. Thesecond great lake we visit on our tour is LakeNakuru. 30 minutes’ drive from Elementaita, thelake is situated in the middle of the national parkto which it gives its name. Teeming with wildlifethe park has so much to offer. Sometimes,when the water levels are low, the entire lakeis covered in flamingos, turning the whole areapink. Lions, buffalos as well as many rhinos callthis corner of Kenya home and a game drivearound the park is always rewarding. If we arelucky we may even spot a leopard relaxing in atree beside the lake. After a game-packed daywe arrive back at Sunbird Lodge in time to enjoythe sun set over the lake, before sitting down fordinner and toasting to the day’s adventures.

Day 4 : Masai Mara

Lake Elementaita - Masai Mara. Leaving theGreat Rift Valley behind we drive to Kenya'sfamous Masai Mara, the setting for the GreatMigration and countless wildlife documentaries.The Masai Mara is the highlight of any safari.We arrive for lunch at our camp and spendthe rest of the afternoon relaxing by the pooland waiting for the late afternoon when thetemperature cools to head out on our first Maragame drive. Back at the camp, dinner is servedand gives us the perfect opportunity to lookback at our day and relive all those highlights.

We spend our final three nights at Mara LeisureCamp which is located along the Talek River, atthe confluence of the Masai Mara’s four game-viewing areas on the northern boundary of theMasai Mara National Reserve. Accommodationin is en suite semi permanent luxury tents,with lovely wooden floors and safari stylefurnishings. Mara Leisure offers impeccableservice, delicious cuisine, free WIFI and plentyof activities all making a stay here a trulymemorable one.

Day 5 : Game drives in theMara

After breakfast this morning we drive across theplains in search of the Big Five and other plainsgame. The early mornings are one of the besttimes to view the animals as this is when theyare their most active before the heat of the daysets in and after a mid-morning of relaxation andlunch, head out into the reserve for a chance totick off some more animals on your “must see”list. Keep your eyes peeled as you hunt for thelast members on your list.

Day 6 : Optional balloon ride

This morning, there is the opportunity to riseearly and experience a game viewing adventurefrom an entirely different perspective! Thehot air balloon safari across the Masai Maratakes off in the crisp morning air, and lastsfor approximately an hour. Float silently,high above plains, forests and rivers, spottinggame below. Upon landing a fully cookedchampagne breakfast awaits. More gameviewing opportunities arise later that morningen-route back to camp and in the afternoon. Inaddition to the abundance of spectacular game,there are also over 450 species of birds that havebeen identified in the Masai Mara Ecosystem.

Day 7 : ArushaMasai Mara - Nairobi - Kilimanjaro - Arusha. Thismorning we enjoy our last sunrise in the MasaiMara with tea or coffee on the veranda. Aftera great final breakfast we drive back to Nairobistopping at the Great Rift Valley for one lastphoto opportunity before you continue on tothe airport for your flight to Kilimanjaro and thestart of the Tanzanian part of the journey.

At Kilimanjaro International Airport make yourway outside to meet your driver guideand receive your short safari briefing beforetravelling to Arusha. We'll spend the nightat the Arusha Hotel which is set in 5 acresof beautifully manicured gardens, providing ahome to the many varieties of birdlife and

exotic plants indigenous to the vibrant Africanflora and fauna. Boasting 86 elegantly furnishedrooms the hotel provides a calming retreatfrom the city and safari life. A fully equippedgym, temperature controlled swimming pool,wireless internet throughout the hotel anddedicated staff ensures that the needs ofall clients are met. Day 8 : Tarangire N.P.

Arusha - Tarangire - Lake Manyara. This morning,wake to the views of Mt Meru before headingdown to breakfast. You will then be collected byyour driver guide and will traverse the floor ofthe Great Rift Valley as you head to TarangireNational Park for a game drive.

Tarangire National Park; named after the riverthat crosses through the park, is Tanzania’ssixth largest park and home to large herds ofelephants. Spend the afternoon exploring thepark before making your way towards KirurumuTented Lodge for dinner and overnight. Thelodge is located on the edge of the escarpmentwall overlooking Lake Manyara.

The Kirurumu Manyara Lodge is located at theedge of the Rift Valley and offers breath takingviews over the Masai veld and Lake Manyara.Through its elevated location, the Lodge offersa fantastic panoramic view over the plains ofthe African escarpment. The 27 safari tents havetheir own en-suite bathroom with a flushingtoilet, a wash basin and shower. Warm water andpower are available day and night.

Directly behind the lodge starts the fertilehighland of Ngorongoro and the wholelodge complex is surrounded by lush greenvegetation. There is a fully equipped bar on awooden sundeck – a perfect place to enjoy asun downer after a full day of safari adventures.Freshly prepared meals are served in a partly-open dining area with a makuti (thatched grass)roof. Day 9 : Serengeti N.P.

Lake Manyara - Serengeti National Park. Todaywe have a long drive through arguably the bestgame park in the world. We will head to therim of the Ngorongoro Crater and then descendinto the endless plains of the Serengeti. TheSerengeti is Tanzania’s oldest and most popularnational park. Its name means 'endless plain' inthe Masai language. It is from here that massiveconcentrations of wildebeest, zebras and otheranimals commence the annual Great Migrationin search of pastures new, providing one ofthe greatest natural spectacles to be foundanywhere in the world. You can watch golden-maned lions stalking the migrating herds, spotleopards at rest in trees at dusk and take a hot-air balloon tour at dawn as the sun’s golden raysilluminate the land.

We meander our way through this famouspark with fantastic game viewing as we headtowards our permanent tented camp in centralSerengeti. The intimate Savannah Camp offerstranquility, spectacular wildlife sighting and nobetter place to take in one of the world'sgreatest wildlife spectacles!

Lunch under the acacia trees is a welcomesight as we settle down for an afternoon in theAfrican bush. Later a game drive with a cool boxof drinks to enjoy while watching the sun setcompletes a great day in the bush. Return tocamp in the early evening to enjoy dinner anddrinks.

Day 10 : Serengeti gamedrives

The Serengeti at sunrise is a beautiful sight andone not to be missed. This is also the best timefor spotting animals so take advantage of themorning hours for the first game drive of theday. After a morning out, the smell of a cookedbreakfast is welcomed as we enjoy a morningunder the shade of the trees. Afternoons arenormally a lazy affair that end in the lateafternoon when the temperatures cool downand the animals start to be active again. Today isno different and at 4pm we will head out for anevening drive before returning to camp in timefor drinks around the fire and dinner.

Day 11 : NgorongoroHighlandsSerengeti - Karatu. After the thrills of theSerengeti, we head out on a full day’s game drivethrough the Serengeti towards the NgorongoroCrater, pausing along the way to enjoy a packedlunch. After lunch, we continue our journeyto Bougainvillea Lodge passing through someincredible scenery and game rich country. Wearrive at the lodge in time for a relaxing drinkand a delicious dinner in the lush surroundings.

Acacia Farm Lodge is a romantic CountryLodge nestled in an active mixed farmlocated high on the spectacular Great Rift'sescarpment area with commanding panoramicviews of the amazing Karatu farmlands andthe nearby Ngorongoro forest area. The Lodgeis strategically located between Tarangire andLake Manyara National Parks on one sideand the Serengeti - Ngorongoro ecosystemon the other side. Each of the 28 luxuriouschalets has a comfortable lounge and en suitebedroom all with a mini bar, coffee makingfacility, air-conditioning, satellite television, WIFIand other modern and appropriate amenitiesplus a private balcony with sweeping viewsof the farm. Day 12 : Ngorongoro Crater

Karatu - Ngorongoro Crater - Karatu. Thismorning the Ngorongoro Crater awaits us. TheCrater is a conservation area and a UNESCOWorld Heritage Site situated 180km west ofArusha in the Crater Highlands area of Tanzania.After an early breakfast, we will head outtowards the Ngorongoro Crater, a large volcaniccaldera, where we experience an amazing gamedrive on the crater floor filled with wildlifeand said to be one of the most thrilling game

spotting experiences. The crater won’t leave youdisappointed. Back at the lodge it’s time to enjoyour last African sunset and dinner. Overnight -Karatu (B, L, D)

Day 13 : KilimanjaroKaratu - Lake Manyara - Kilimanjaro. Thismorning will be our last day, but in order to getour last fix of the amazing scenery and wildlifethat Tanzania has to offer, we have one lastgame drive in Lake Manyara pausing along theway for a picnic lunch before heading back toKilimanjaro Airport via Arusha.

Named after the Maasai word emanyara, aeuphorbia plant species grown into a hedgearound a family homestead, Lake Manyara’sshores are a shimmer of pink, due to thelarge flamingo population and it was oncedubbed the ‘loveliest lake in Africa’ by ErnestHemingway. We spend a full morning in the parktaking in the many different species of birds andmammals, including elephants, leopards and ifwe are lucky, the tree climbing lions that thepark is famous for.

In the late morning travel via Arusha backto Kilimanjaro Airport for your onward flight.Please make sure that international onwardflights are booked AFTER 6pm, or 5pm fordomestic flights.(B, L)

Mostother nationalities, including UK, USA, Canadian,Australian and New Zealand passport holders,do require a visa to enter Kenya.</p>

On 1st July 2015 the government of Kenyaintroduced an electronic visa application. It isstill possible to purchase a visa upon arrival upuntil 31 August 2015. From 01 September 2015ALL tourists wishing to visit Kenya need to applyfor a visa online at www.ecitizen.go.ke. The visaprocess can take up to 7 working days. All passengers require an onward/return ticketsand sufficient funds for length of intended stay(at least US$500).

VaccinationsYou should seek medical advice beforetravelling to Kenya from your local healthpractitioner and ensure that you receive allof the appropriate vaccinations. As a guidePolio, Diphtheria, Hepatitis A&B and Tetanus isstrongly recommended. Rabies and Menengitisare also recommended.

There is the risk of malaria in Kenya so it isvery important to check with your doctor beforeyou go, to see whether malarial medication isrequired for the areas you are visiting. A YellowFever vaccination is also required for travel tomany areas of Kenya.

Banking hours: Mon-Fri 0900-1500, Sat0900-1100. You can exchange money in banksor bureau de changes. Be aware that oldpre-2003 US$ banknotes or torn or markedbanknotes are difficult to exchange in Africa somake sure you take crisp new notes! In majortowns/cities most banks have an ATM. AmericanExpress, Diners Club, MasterCard and Visa cardsare all widely accepted.

Travellers cheques can be changed at banks,these should be in US Dollars or Pound Sterlingto avoid additional exchange rate charges.Most banks will want to see your passportand proof of purchase receipt before cashingyour travellers cheques. Please Note: Travellerscheques can be difficult to cash and often haverestrictions of about US$100 a day maximum.They also tend to attract high commissioncharges, especially when exchanging for hardcurrency.

ClimateKenya is an excellent year round destinationwith a favourable climate and reasonably lowrainfall. In general the hottest months areDecember to March, although the climate variesenormously from place to place. The lowlandcoastal areas are tropical, with year roundhigh temperatures and humidity, which is atits peak in April and May, although temperedby monsoon winds. The highlands are moretemperate with four seasons. Nairobi has a verypleasant climate throughout the year due to itsaltitude. Near Lake Victoria, the temperaturesare much higher and rainfall can be heavy.

A single entry visas can be obtainedby most nationalities upon arrival at Dar esSalaam, Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar Airport orat Namanga border crossing point, betweenTanzania and Kenya. The current visa cost is U$50 for all nationalities, which can be paid inUS$, GB£ or Euro cash. The three East Africancountries of Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda havean agreement that you can travel freely betweenthese countries and do not have to get anothervisa when returning to each. If you exit thisregion and enter any other country, includingRwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo,you will need to get new visas to re enter Kenya,Tanzania and Uganda.

The longrains occur between mid-March and the end of

May and there are also short, lighter rains duringNovember and December. The driest monthsare June to October.
