Pre-employment Structured Clinical Interview (PESCI)What is a PESCI?A PESCI is an objective assessment of your knowledge, skills, clinical experience and attributes to determine whether you are suitable to practise in a specific position. The PESCI consists of a structured clinical interview using scenarios. The information obtained from the PESCI is considered by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) when it decides whether to grant registration.
Who needs a PESCI?Applicants for limited or provisional registration may be required to complete a PESCI to work in general practice. Please contact AHPRA to advise you in your particular circumstance.IMGs in the specialist pathway do not require a PESCI, however a Fitness for Intended Clinical Practice Interview (FICPI) may be required by the relevant specialist medical college.
