Hey there, Los Osos High Key Clubbers, We hope you had a great summer and welcome back! This is the start of the new 2011-2012 school year; a new year of classes, friends, memories, and service! This issue will include everything you need to know about Key Club (i.e. meeting dates, where to meet, and all about the organi-zation we know and love: Key Club!) Good luck with the first day of school, And we hope to see you all soon!

D O Y O U R E M E M B E R...

Freshman Orientation

On July 28th, 2011, Key Clubbers came together for the first event before the new 2011-2012 school year. Did you see us at Freshman orientation? Our new 2011-2012 officer team ran a booth, informing the incoming freshmen about none other than, Key Club! We were overjoyed to see how excited the new students were about Key Club. We had a great time meeting all of you, and we hope to meet you all again in our first meeting of the school year!

Need-to-Know’s About Key Club

Key Club International -Key Club International is the oldest and largest service program for high school students. -We are entirely student-led. -Our goal is to teach leadership through serving others. -Key Club International is divided into 33 districts, and from then on, divided into separate divisions depending on geographi- -cal areas. Our Division -We belong to Division 15. -Our mascot is the giraffe! -Our 2011-2012 Lieutenant Governor is Jocelyn Sy -Other schools in D15 include: -Alta Loma -Montclair -Chino -Ontario -Chino Hills -Ontario Christian -Claremont -Rancho Cucamonga -Colony -R. S. Ayala -Don Lugo and -Etiwanda -Upland -Divisional Council Meetings (DCMs) are held every month. -These are great opportunities to meet other Key Club -bers from other schools in our division! Our Club -Los Osos High School Key Club currently has about 200 mem bers! -We have weekly events, such as Banyan Elementary tutoring, Kids Pack, and Animal Shelter!

K E E P A N E Y E O U T F O R...

The First Key Club Meeting

The first meeting of the 2011-2012 school year will be on Friday, August 19th in Mr. Lyne’s room (D1, the ASB room).

The meeting will begin at 8 a.m. We will be introducing ourselves and Key Club to all of you. We will go over upcoming events, and dates that you should keep an eye out for.

We hope to see you all there!

Grape Harvest Festival

Our first event will be at Rancho Cucamonga’s annual Grape Harvest Festival. The festi-val is to be from August 19th—21st at the Epicenter parking lot. The Grape Harvest Festi-

val is known to be California’s oldest grape harvest festival, and they need our help!

Shift times vary, and we have lots of spots to fill. Do not forget to fill out the medical form and to bring it with you the first time you volunteer!

This is a great, and fun event to start off the new Key Club year! Sign up for your shift at

the meeting on Friday, August 19th in D1 (Mr. Lyne’s room!)

Club Rush

Club Rush will be from August 23rd—25th in the LOHS quad during both lunches. Want information? Want to know all about Key Club? Come and find our booth!

Our staff will be happy to answer any question you have,

as well as show you just how much Key Club spirit we have!

We will have informational brochures for you to take with you. Look for the painted Key Club boxes during

both lunches!

Returning member? Come and visit our booth as well! Sign up on our sign-up sheets whether you are a return-

ing member or a new member, so that we can add you to our contact lists!

Wondering if you should join Key Club? Drop by, and we’ll show you a hundred and one reasons why you will

love to be part of this great organization!
