Dining in the Galleria AreaMo’s...A Place for SteaksDining at Mo’s...A Place for Steaks in the Galleria Area is truly a one-of-a-kind dining experience. Well, maybe one of three since their flagship location opened its doors 15 years ago in downtown Milwaukee and a downtown Indianapolis location followed. Mo’s in the Galleria area is known by both locals and visitors alike for its unmatched culinary quality, tuxedo clad table servers and modern atmosphere that’s sexy…yet sophisticated. When a restaurant gets the cuisine, the service and the ambience just right, you have a winning recipe for making marvelous memories in Houston.

Certified Master Chef Ken Arnone has developed a menu that leads off with some of the most creative appetizers ever created. Imagine nibbling on bacon wrapped seared sea scallops, lobster ceviche or spicy kung pao calamari!

Follow that up with a perfectly cooked wet or dry-aged steak exclusively from Chicago’s famed Stock Yards. Maybe Kobe beef, Sicilian chicken or Chilean sea bass are more to your liking – good choices. Be sure to save room for dessert. People…there’s nothing in

the world quite like Mo’s homemade Cinnamo’ Roll for dessert – a mountain of vanilla ice cream atop a hot, fresh baked cinnamon and sugar roll drenched in caramel sauce. Yes Please!

Connoisseurs of the grape will delight in Mo’s Wine Spectator award-winning wine vault stocked with highly sought and hard to find vintages. And unlike so many of the mall and ‘chain’ dining choices, Mo’s has one of the few large outdoor patio areas for cocktail or dinner seating. With our mild winter nights, enjoying a cognac and cigar in the comfort of a luxurious heated patio can be one of life’s simpler, yet priceless pleasures. Make sure that on this trip to Houston you take in Mo’s...A Place for Steaks, one of our Galleria Area’s finest dining experiences. Reservations can be made at (713) 877-0720 or through Open Table at opentable.com

MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS HOUSTONBayou Bend Collection and Gardens

Bayou Bend is the MFAH house museum for Ameri-can decorative arts and paintings. Displayed in the former home of Houston civic leader and philan-thropist Ima Hogg (1882–1975), the collection is one of the finest showcases of American furnishings, silver, ceramics, and paintings in the world. The house is situated on 14 acres of organically maintained gardens in Houston's historic River Oaks neighborhood.Open year-round, Bayou Bend welcomes thousands of visitors annually for tours and special programs. With the addition of the Lora Jean Kilroy Visitor and Education Center, which includes the Kitty King Powell Library and Study Center and The Shop at Bayou Bend, as well as state-of-the-art education and rental spaces, Bayou Bend has established its place in the continually growing cultural arts scene of Houston...

Portrait of Spain: Masterpieces from the PradoDec 16 - Mar 31.The MFAH presents more than 100 masterworks from one of the world’s most renowned collections of European painting. Portrait of Spain: Masterpieces from the Prado comes to Houston as part of a new initiative by the Museo Nacional del Prado to broaden access to its holdings. The exhibition tells the story of the evolution of painting in Spain from the 16th thru 19th centuries and explores how artists reflected the sweeping changes in society, culture, politics, and religion that contributed to the development of a modern Spanish identity. Masterpieces by the lead-ing painters of the day from each of the four centuries are included, with works by Goya, El Greco, Murillo, and Velázquez.

MUSEUM OF NATURAL SCIENCEMaya 2012: Prophecy becomes HistoryOctober 26, 2012 – March 31, 2013

Maya civilization was one of the longest-lived in the Americas. A Stone Age culture, the ancient Maya developed the most advanced writing system in the New World and domesticated plants we all still enjoy eating, for example corn. They thrived in environments rang-ing from the high altitude mountains in Guatemala, down to the hot and humid rainforest of the Peten and into the parched, shrub-covered plains of the Yu-catan Peninsula. This exhibition presents the story of the real Maya which spans over three millennia.

HOUSTONThe Natural Science Museum has a lot of stuff. There are permanent collections of minerals, natural history exhibits, a planetarium with laser shows and an Imax theater, a butterfly habitat, a paleontology exhibit with dinosaurs, and a new chemistry hall. This place is very crowded, especially on weekends, and you should call in advance for reservations for the Imax, planetarium and butterfly exhibit.

The Cockrell Butterfly Center at the Houston Museum of Natural Science is a stunning, living exhibit that showcases hundreds of live butterflies in a

naturalistic rainforest setting. The central conservatory is a dramatic three-story glass cone filled with tropical plants and exotic butterflies. During a typical visit, one can expect to see 50 to 60 different species of the world’s largest and most colorful butterfly species, flying through the balmy air, hovering over flowers or sipping fruit juice – and occasionally, landing on visitors!

Downtown Aquarium Sea creatures of every shape and size are on view at the Downtown Aquarium. The Sunken Temple exhibit reveals the wonders of ancient Mayan culture and the underwater world, while a journey on the Shark Voyage gives you an intimate view of the ocean's most infamous predators. A great place for family fun, the aquarium also features outdoor attractions such as the 100-foot Diving Bell Ferris Wheel and the Dancing Fountains. Drink and dine at the Aquarium Restaurant or the Dive Lounge. And while there, make sure to check out the new white tigers exhibit.

Space Center Houston is the visitor center for NASA's Johnson Space Center. It's the product of the joint efforts of NASA and Disney Imagineering. Easily the most popular attraction in the Houston area, there's nothing like it any-where else in the world. You'll find plenty of exhibits and activities to interest both adults and children.

Western Dreamin’We know your child’s dreams are as big as the wild west. Whether they're dreaming about riding and roping on the ranch or racing into first place around the barrels, Cavender’s has the hats, belts, boots, jeans and west-ern shirts kids love! With a selection that can't be beat, and a price that won't break your budget, you can't go wrong! Come on in and shop the latest styles that will make your little cowboy or cowgirl's dreams come true.

The Battleship Texas is docked near the San Jacinto Monument. The Texas fought in both World Wars, and has recently been extensively repaired. You can wander all over the ship, above and below deck.

KEMAHThe Kemah Boardwalk is a hotel and restaurant destina-tion in which also features a small selection of amuse-ment rides. The main attractions of the 35-acre complex are its many restaurants, recreational sailing, and rides.

GALVESTONRailroad Museum, shopping and Victoriana on the Strand, trolley to the ocean side. Rent a bicycle or skates and cruise along the 10 mile seawall.

Moody Gardens has a 3D IMAX, a white sand beach, an indoor rainforest and beautiful landscaping.

There are a lot of family

friendly activities in Houston, here are

some of my favorites.Cooper from Cavender’s Boot City

Interactive Activities for KidsTraveling art exhibitions from across the world are showcased in the

John P. McGovern Kid's Hall alongside Junktion, a collec-tion of activity tables that form together to make a train. Three carts of Junktion host interactive activities, which change weekly in accordance with the various themes. On other carts, children may paint their faces or put on a puppet show.

Family Friendly - Kids Special Events Throughout the year, many special events are kicked off in Kids' Hall, including the widely popular New Year's Noon - Houston's longest running New Year celebration for children.

Experience eighteen of the league’s brightest young stars from the Rookie and Sophomore classes battling it out in an epic game played in two 20-minute halves with no foul outs!

Last year’s Rising Stars Challenge general manager Sha-quille O’Neal drafted the team that brought a 146-133 vic-tory over Charles Barkley’s, with MVP Kyrie Irving hitting a perfect 8 for 8 from beyond the arc, 34 points and 9 assists.

State Farm All-Star Saturday Night Saturday, Feb 16, 2013 7:00 p.m. CST

(doors open approximately 6:30pm CST)

NBA All-Star Saturday Night includes four competitionsfeaturing some of the NBA’s best players.

Shooting StarsSaturday, Feb 16, 2013

Will a team comprised of one current NBA player, one current WNBA player and an NBA Legend be representing your NBA city at NBA All-Star 2013 in this shooting contest? 2012 was a landmark year for the

Shooting Stars Competition. Team New York won its first Shooting Stars title with an efficient performance through the first five shots and Allan Houston, who hasn’t played an NBA game in over seven

years, hit the half-court shot in both rounds for New York, which recorded the two best times of the competition, 38.7 seconds in the

first round and 37.3 in the final.

Taco Bell® Skills ChallengeSaturday, Feb 16, 2013

Get your adrenaline pumping at The Taco Bell® Skills Challenge and feel the anticipation of the countdown as four of the top guards

compete for the title in a two-round timed “obstacle course” consist-ing of a series of passes, free throws, lay-ups and agility drills. For

2012’s challenge winner, Spurs’ point guard, Tony Parker, the third time was the charm for his NBA All-Star appearances (2003, 2009, 2012), besting Rajon Rondo and Deron Williams in the final round to take the competition, clocking the fastest time, 29.2 seconds in

the first round and posting a final round time of 32.8 seconds. With a lineup of dynamic playmakers that also included Deron Williams,

Rajon Rondo, John Wall, Russell Westbrook and Kyrie Irving, it was one intriguing showdown.

Foot Locker Three-Point ContestSaturday, Feb 16, 2013 Watch LIVE as victory is claimed when six of the best long-range shooters attempt to score the most three-pointers in a race against the clock. Last year’s winner, power forward, Kevin Love, survived two tiebreakers, beating out hometown favorite, Ryan Anderson; former three-point contest winner James Jones; Anthony Morrow, who wore a jersey honoring the late Drazen Petrovic; and then out-pointed Kevin Durant, a top-three NBA scorer. Will Love return and defend his crown or will another one of the League’s best take it from him? You can be there, live, with a package direct from the NBA via NBA Events. Don’t miss out!

Sprite Slam DunkSaturday, Feb 16, 2013Don’t miss out on Saturday night’s grand finale showcasing the NBA’s most athletic players as they take to the air, mystifying fans with their gravity defying creativity. Be there as these high fliers of the NBA cap off the NBA All-Star Saturday Night, presented by State Farm, by dunking their way into the NBA history books. From capes and kryptonite to blowing out candles and leaping over legends, Sprite Slam Dunk has produced some of the most creative moments in NBA All-Star history! Dunking two balls at once in spectacular fashion, Jeremy Evans won the 2012 Sprite Slam Dunk title -- edging Chase Budinger by 1 percent out of 4 million votes tallied. What thrilling stunt will be in store next year? Witness the NBA’s most creative slam dunk artists with your NBA Events package that will take you LIVE to Houston to see who will be the next Jordan, Wilkins, Griffin, Evans or Superman!
