Monet and the Seine: Impressions of a RiverOct 26, 2014 - Feb 1, 2015
Law Building, Second Floor 1001 Bissonnet
“I have painted the Seine throughout my life, at every hour, at every season. I have never tired of it: for me the Seine is always new.”
—Claude Monet
Monet and the Seine: Impressions of a River ex-amines Claude Monet’s abiding fascination with the Seine by tracing his life along the iconic French waterway, both chronologically and geographically. Monet (1840–1926) used the river from an early point in his career to explore many of the artistic concerns that defi ne his oeuvre, such as the transformative effects of light and atmosphere. This beautiful exhibition brings together more than 50 paintings on loan from loca-tions around the world. Beginning with scenes of leisure activities, modern life, and

CIRQUE DU SOLEILAmaluna
Opens February 12Sam Houston Race Park
Amaluna invites the audience to a mysterious island governed by Goddesses and guided by the cycles of the moon.Their queen, Prospera, directs her daughter’s coming-of-age ceremony in a rite that hon-ours femininity, renewal, rebirth and balance which marks the passing of these insights and values from one generation to the next.In the wake of a storm caused by Prospera, a group of young men lands on the island, trig-gering an epic, emotional story of love between Prospera’s daughter and a brave young suitor. But theirs is a love that will be put to the test. The couple must face numer-ous demanding trials and overcome daunting setbacks before they can achieve mutual trust, faith and har-mony.

WRIGHT PAWN
SPOTLIGHTI’ve been in the pawn business for approximately 10 years; the
last two years here at the wonderful Wright Pawn and Jewelry. Just when you think you’ve seen it all something new comes through thedoor. The best thing about this store is Jack and Pamela Wright! They are the most fair and professional business owners I have ever been involved with. They genuinely love their customers, their business and their employees.
I have worked for 4 years in the jewelry business as a GIA AccreditedJewelry Professional; the last two years at Wright Pawn and Jewelry. Itruly love my job because no two days are alike. I also really enjoy helpingcustomers find the “perfect” gift and being a part of their special moment inlife. The best part of working at Wright Pawn and Jewelry is getting to workwith such great people.
I have been working at Wright Pawn and Jewelry for over 2years and every day is a unique day full of new experiences.Working in this environment has given me a new perspective of the pawnbusiness. Pamela and Jack Wright make this business the “Wright” place to be, and the “Wright” place to work! It’s an honor to work with high-caliber people like Pamela and Jack.
Eight years of pawn experience makes me realize my love, passion and dedication for this industry. I especially love my jobbecause of the people I work with and being able to help customers. Butthe best thing is working every day for Wright Pawn and Jewelry.
