Then, some 4.5 billion year ago our solar system was formed due to the expansion of the Universe, and out of solar nebula, a cloud of dust left after the formation of Sun, from which the planets were formed. A beautiful place of existence appeared, the Earth. The earth, as it formed, was a molten globe which cooled eventually. As it cooled, the clouds were formed and rains created oceans. The volcanic gases created atmosphere and the first life appeared some 3.5 billion years ago. The atmosphere was devoid of oxygen, therefore the life that existed was anaerobic. The cyanobacteria (photosynthetic life forms) created oxygen in the atmosphere around 2.4 billion years ago and aerobic life appeared. However, till 600 million years ago, life existed in water as only microscopic. The formation of terrestrial life is believed to be due to the Moon. The moon separated from earth due to the Giant collision soon after the earth was formed and gradually moved away. When the moon was very close to earth and the tides were very high, they covered the surface and brought the life forms to land. Long live Homo Sapiens

Some 14 billion years ago something happened called as Big Bang and the universe was formed. Then, some 4.5 billion year ago our solar system was formed due to the expansion of the Universe, and out of solar nebula, a cloud of dust left after the formation of Sun, from which the planets were formed. A beautiful place of existence appeared, the Earth.

The earth, as it formed, was a molten globe which cooled eventually. As it cooled, the clouds were formed and rains created oceans. The volcanic gases created atmosphere and the first life appeared some 3.5 billion years ago. The atmosphere was devoid of oxygen, therefore the life that existed was anaerobic. The cyanobacteria (photosynthetic life forms) created oxygen in the atmosphere around 2.4 billion years ago and aerobic life appeared. However, till 600 million years ago, life existed in water as only microscopic. The formation of terrestrial life is believed to be due to the Moon.

The moon separated from earth due to the Giant collision soon after the earth was formed and gradually moved away. When the moon was very close to earth and the tides were very high, they covered the surface and brought the life forms to land. altogether different like its name means, entirely new. The unique thing about it is the rate at which species are lost. The term background extinction describes the speed at which the species have been lost (species lost/year) throughout the history of planet. In this Holocene extinction the background extinction rates are estimated from 100 to 1000 times higher, with 140,000 species lost every year. All this is because of us, human beings, our population and our activities. To understand the extent of damage, let us look into this analogy. Suppose we scale the 4.5 billion years of earth to 45 years, then we are here since last 4 hours and the industrial revolution began just 1 minute ago. In this one minute we have destroyed 50% of world's forests.

The Admission Module for Post Graduate Courses offered by the university departments is made live from 19th May 2014. The above mentioned module can be accessed using the link http://www.spuvvn.edu/students_corner/admissions/. The aspiring students have to register themselves first. Then the students can fill in their application form using the login and password sent on their e-mail id. Guidelines to fill the application form are also provided on the University website as well as on the portal also. After filling the online application form and uploading the required documents, the students have to send the hard copy of the application form, copies of the uploaded documents and proof of payment of fees to the university. The module is the stepping stone towards the complete automation of the entire Student Life Cycle.

All the applications filled in by the students will be then verified by the concerned section of the University and the same software will help in preparing merit lists of the students on different criteria.

! The students can apply for any Post Graduate Course (except MBA and MCA) from anywhere in the world at any time. They don't have to stand in a long queue to submit their applications.

! The guidelines given to the students are self explanatory and the queries, if any, are solved through the help line.

! On the administration side, the Herculean task of DATA ENTRY is eliminated as the forms are filled in by the students themselves. This will help the university in reducing the financial burden of employing the manpower for data entry, electricity as well as saving the time.

Benefits of the Online Admission Module:

Environment activists have raised concerns and we are being made aware through various agencies regarding the real threats to environment and how we have reached at the verge of destroying earth. However, the fact of the matter is that, actually we are at the verge of destroying ourselves. Species come and go. In fact, the total diversity as on today is only 1 to 3 % of what existed on earth, ever. Those who don't survive, perish! Mightier beings than us have become extinct in past.
