How to get to Kelleys Island
Whether traveling by ferry boat, cruise boat, private boat or plane, getting to Kelleys Island is an adventure in itself. The Kelleys Island Ferry Boat Line provides service from Marblehead to Kelleys Island. Air flight is available from Port Clinton. The Goodtime offers passenger service to Kelleys from Sandusky and the Jet Express offers passenger service to Kelleys via Sandusky, Port Clinton and Put-in-Bay.
By Highway:Traveling on S.R. 2, exit north on S.R. 269 to S.R. 163 east to Marblehead where the Kelley Island Ferry entrance can be seen on the left. If coming from the Ohio Turnpike from the east, take S.R. 250 to S.R. 2 west. If coming from the west, take S.R. 53 north to S.R.2 east to S.R. 269.
By Private Boat:Several marinas are located on the south side of the island near downtown. Hourly, daily and overnight dockage, fuel, pumpouts, laundromat, showers, golf cart rentals, and gift shops are available at some of the marinas. Set your sights on the Marblehead Lighthouse. Coordinates for downtown Kelleys Island are: Longitude -82-42-10W, and Latitude -41-36=14N.
What to See and DoIf you have never been here before, you are in for a real treat.

Shopping, dining, fishing, boating, hiking, biking or sit back and take advantage of ìISLAND TIMEî.
The downtown area remains the heart of island activities, however throughout the island you can browse unique gift and clothing shops. The restaurants provide a variety of inside, outside, and fine dining experiences. Traditional Lake Erie Perch and Walleye dinners and sandwiches, pizza, steaks, seafood, cheeses and exotic fare. The island also is the home of a microbrewery and of course a winery. Some of the local taverns provide a variety of afternoon, evening and weekend entertainment.
For the kids, playgrounds are located at the school and the Village Pavilion Ball Park. The northeast end of the island offers a fishing pier and a sandy beach next to the state park campground. Bike and self guided hiking trails at the East Quarry, North Pond, and the state park may appeal to the older kids. Then of course there is always ice cream!
Boating and fishing around Kelleys Island in the western basin of Lake Erie is said to be some of the best in the US.
Enjoy a day of fishing, scenic and sunset cruises aboard a charter with one of our licensed captains. Capital of the World Walleye, perch, smallmouth, catfish and other species are also caught in quantity in the respective seasons. Bait, supplies, transient, overnight and seasonal boat dockage, fuel and pump out are available at marinas on the island.

Natural AreasKelleys Island is very fortunate to have almost 900 acres of state park land for your enjoyment. Over 6 miles of hiking trails offer an adventure of Kelleys Islandís varied habitats and diverse flora and fauna. Encompassing both the unique history and ecology of the region.
North Pond PreserveTraveling east on Ward Road takes you to the North Pond Nature Preserve. The trail slopes gently down the ancient shoreline to the swamp forest and the beginning of the boardwalk, which winds through the woods to one of the last remaining intact ponds along Lake Erie. Climb the tower and get a birds eye view of this pond.
East Quarry TrailsJust east of the North Pond Nature Preserve is the East QuarryTrails. The many trails wind through forest and along a beautiful inland lake, Horseshoe Lake. The rare Lakeside Daisy blooms there in late May.
North Shore Alvar State PreserveThe North Shore Alvar State Nature Preserve is the featured stop along the Loop Trail. The alvar preserve is the last remaining intact alvars in Ohio. This globally rare habitat along the rocky shoreline of Lake Erie is a must to see in all seasons.
BirdingKelleys is an important bird area designated by the National Audubon Society. It is an important refueling stop for migrating birds. During spring and fall the island is a delight for bird watchers. The spring migration is one of the richest in North America. Kelleys Island serves as a ìstepping stoneî used by a multitude of migrating birds and the Monarch butterflies. The diverse habitats offer a great adventure to birders and nature lovers alike!
