TRANSCRIPT
Good Day folks We are now three months into this
Presidential year---My, how time flies.
On 12 September, Lion Ian Chellew presented the group of cyclists
raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation with a
cheque for $500. Last week we gave the University of Wollongong
$110 for their Learning Labs project which will sponsor a child from Kiama High School.
Speaking of the High School, last Thursday I attended the graduation of their year 12 and
was proud to present 4 awards from Kiama Lions to deserving students.
It was nice to see so many Lions and their wives at the funeral of Peter Scifleet’s Grandson
Oliver. I’m sure it was of great support to him and the family
We had a very pleasant Happy Hour on the 16th with a great turnout. Many thanks to Geoff
and Marilyn Heinecke for all their work in making it such a super evening.
Our Egg and Bacon roll stall at the Second Hand Saturday was a great success.
Congratulations to Dennis Wilson and his team. We had fun and made good money. We
hope for a repeat performance at the Holden Show and Shine on 24th November. We were
also helped by the Kiama Scouts who rattled buckets for us. This was a good example of how
two service groups can help each other. I will be looking at other ways they can help us on
other projects
We have bought 2 new lightweight tables for our stall, these were very useful and we will
now look at better signage.
We were also busy at the Driver Reviver area, thanks to all who rallied to help at the last
minute
Kiama Lions Club
Ki-lines Edition 6/2011-2012 -
29th September 2011
As you know this week we will have our combined meeting with Minnamurra and
Gerringong Lions. We are going to make it as relaxed as possible with no formal Lions
protocol and making the emphasis on fellowship and enjoyment. So, after the initial
introductions etc, I will be handing over the evening to the “Lords of Misrule” or “Sons of
Anarchy”, whichever description best fits. I’m sure it is going to be a great success and a lot
of fun, so I hope to see as many of you as possible there to represent our club

Thankyou.
On behalf of Dale, Rachel, Rory & Wendi and I, I would like to thank all of those
Lions & friends who passed on their thoughts & best wishes during our Grandson
Oliver’s battle & subsequent passing.
Our ‘Little Man’ appeared to have the ‘Polycystic Kidney Disorder’ that he was
born with, well in hand.
However, unfortunately, the cysts on his kidneys grew rapidly & his kidneys grew
to compensate that growth.
At the time of his passing, his kidneys were the size of a 17 year old’s, leaving little
space for his lungs, & they would continue to grow.
There was nothing that could be done to save Oliver.
Dale & Rachel had to make the decision that we, all as parents, would dread to
make.
Oliver’s respirator was turned off after he & Rory were Baptised.
His fight ended soon after in his Dad’s arms.
He will always be loved & remembered.

Many thanks to President Jerry and the Graham Bradley for volunteering for the Children’s Audio
Theatre display stand. President Jerry presented a set of 5 CDs to LCI President Tam, we sold some
CDs and had lots of enquiries about our project. There were over 700 Lions from Australia, New
Zealand, Indonesia, the South Pacific islands, USA, and Europe. President Jerry presented the
Children’s Audio Theatre project to approximately 600 Lions. We didn’t win, but a lot of people came
to our stand after the presentation to find out more about the project. Regards, David Robson

Dear Lions, Lionesses & Leos The Nurses’ Scholarship Foundation is receiving applications from nurses for scholarships for their ongoing education until November 30 2011. The Foundation board members wish nurses to be aware of this opportunity and further information is available at www.lionsclubssydney.org.au/foundations. The board members would like to be able to increase the number of scholarships awarded and we need your help. Please ask your members to consider making a donation to this foundation. Should a nurse from your area receive a scholarship we endeavour to make a presentation to the nurse at your local Club. Helen Rae 3 year director On behalf of the Nurses’ Scholarship Foundation
Clean can be funny.
One day, a man came home and was greeted by his wife dressed in a very
Sexy nightie. 'Tie me up,' she purred, 'and you can do anything you want.'
So he tied her up and went golfing.
