KIAWAH AGAIN IN 2011 | APRIL 28, 2011 - MAY 1, 2011

Gentlemen:

Start your engines, for the time has come. Kiawah Island Golf Resort awaits us. We were lastat Kiawah in 2008 - we're overdue for an encore. Some of us have been going on golf tripstogether since 1989. That's 22 years - that's scary.

We have a great trip planned, and all we need is some decent weather. Six rounds of golf,and two on the famous Ocenan Course. We have one newbie this year - Mr. James Hatch - and onegolfer back in the rotation after a few years off - Mr. Marc Rubinger. Welcome to our merryband of scratch(y) golfers.

We are using the wonderful facilities of GolfTripGenius.com I don't know who built thissite, but it is unbelievable. We're playing with 3 different sets of teams over 5 rounds,and yet we still have the best mathematcially possible pairing, with 6 of the twelve of uspaired with one other player 3 times. Consider this - I'm stuck with Ira three times. Thatis "the ultimate sacrifice" and proves that I did nothing to bias the pairings in my favor.

There are some great tournaments lined up and a $2,400 pool. Even Dan can figure out thatthis is $200 per man. He asked me if this calculation required "long division", andexplained that he dropped out of Engiennering at Lehigh before he would have had "longdivision". He never had "long division" in Economics.

The rules of the road are quite simple this year. Pick up the putts if they are within theleather. Keep moving - let's try to keep rounds to 4 hours. Food and drink purchased on thecourse qaulifies as a group expense and will be whacked up at the end of the trip byGolfTripGenius.com I don't know who built this site, but it is unbelievable.

Side bets are fine, and we can do match of cards using GolfTripGenius.com. I don't know whobuilt this site, but it is unbelievable.

MICHAEL ZISMAN

Mike "The Zman" ZismanYears on tour: 8In the bag: Zman has figured outa new way to work, play golf andmake financial investments allat the same time. In additionto his customized clubs andspecial balls, Zman has a built-in computer that keeps track ofeverything.2011 Prediction: We have to giveour host, organizer and friend abreak. In spite of the factthat he probably won't hit theball far, we know he will atleast keep it in play.Depending on market conditions,the weather and how much redwine was consumed the nightbefore, Zman could be a realcontender.

ANDY CVITANOV

Andy "The Crazy Russian"CvitanovYears on tour: 6In the bag: Crazy has threecustomized drivers. When heslices one hard right, he bringsout the hooker (no, not thatkind). If he finds himselfpulling it (something BabeMeister does way too much of),he breaks out the slicer. And,if he only hits it 100 yards, hebrings out the third one whichis an eight foot driver.2011 Prediction: Some of Crazy'splaying partners report that hereally settled into a smoothgroove. If he can bring thisvideo game technique to Kiawah,Crazy will be tough to beat.Could win it all!

HCP :: 11.0

IRA FEINBERG

Ira "Babe Meister" FeinbergYears on tour: 8In the bag: Out of all the bagswe inspected, this one had someof the most unusual items.Because young children may readthis, we have elected to sum upthe items in two words: verysick puppy (OK, that's three butyou get the point).2011 Prediction: Babe Meister isan enigma to the golfingcommunity. He has a good swing,is very smart with coursemanagement and certainly knowsthe game. What we can't figureout is why he's so lousy. So,our prediction is a low finishunless a cart girl, bus driveror maid gets him stimulated.

DAN GREENBURG

Dan "Greenbacks" GreenburgYears on tour: 7In the bag: Greenbacks hasfinally figured out what'smissing in his golf bag. Thisyear he has a fully loaded iPadwith every bit of golfinstruction known to man. Thiswill certainly help his game buttotally destroy speed of play.Let's hope for a short batterylife.2011 Prediction: As we all know,Greenbacks views golf as purelya social event and never worriesabout winning. His playingpartners have a different viewand will be carrying a cattleprod to improve their chances ofwinning. With the highestindex, could place high on themoney list.

HCP :: 21.2

ROGER HISER

Roger "Dodger" HiserYears on tour: 7In the bag: Many pros now carrysophisticated GPS systems tozero in on critical distances.The Dodger has a new prototypethat goes one step further: itreplays the last five best shotsin an effort to create positiveswing thoughts. Then again, hemay be just looking at pornwhich could also help his swing.2011 Prediction: The GolfChannel reported that Dodger hasa new swing coach. The apparentchanges he's made include a muchslower tempo, at least tenpractice swings and 45 secondsof meditation before hitting theball. Middle of the pack atbest.

HCP :: 13.5

TODD VANETT

Todd "Show me the Money" VanettYears on tour: 8In the bag: Money's problem istee to green: he can't get offthe tee and can't putt on thegreen. Everything in between isgreat, so this year Money has adriver that looks like an ironand a putter that looks like awedge. We watched him in apractice round last month.Everything was working fineuntil he got a bit fatigued andcouldn't remember what was what.2011 Prediction: He's feelinghis oats and Money has lots ofcash to bet. If he can keeptrack of his club selection anddoesn't get lost on the course,could be in the top 3 on themoney list.

HCP :: 16.0

TERRY WILLIAMS

Terry "The Terror" WilliamsYears on tour: 8In the bag: Terror takes this game veryseriously. The finest clubs, a book oncourse information and distances, and aportable weather station to ensure headjusts for temperature, barometricpressure and humidity. Unfortunatelyfor the rest of us, this guy is good…2011 Prediction: Some people play thegame for fun. Then there are playerslike Terror who only have one thoughtin mind: beat the crap out of everyoneand win money. Although we’ve heardthat Terror is off to a slow start,this could be like shooting fish in abarrel… Unless Crazy really has ittogether, our pick is that Terror willbe the big winner at Kiawah 11.

HCP :: 8.5

JIM HATCH

Jim "The Hatchet" HatchYears on tour: RookieGiven this is the Hatchet'sfirst year, if he's smart, he'llbe in the bag from the time weland until we're home.2011 Prediction: As with mostRookies, scouting reports arehard to come by. So we GoogledHatchet and found out that hereally isn't a golfer and thinksthis is a tennis trip. Man, ishe in for a surprise on thefirst tee...

HCP :: 13.5

ROBERT ROSEND

Rob “Relaxed” RosendYears on tour: 7 (Was on the mentallydisabled list last year)In the bag: We recently took a tour ofwhat’s in the pockets of Relaxed’sbag. Some of the more interestingitems included assorted medications forhallucinations, hemorrhoids and SD,portable electro shock equipment and adevice that looked like a swing aid butvibrated. Who the hell knows…2011 Prediction: Relaxed had a reallybig 2010 winning the AT&T Nationaltournament, meeting Tiger Woods and afew of his girlfriends and placing 2ndin his Flight at White Manor.Unfortunately, 2010 is over and so far,scouting reports see nothing that wouldindicate a good finish. So, if you needmeds see Relaxed. If you need money,find another partner. Probably willplace in the bottom 5.

HCP :: 9.7

MARC RUBINGER

Marc "The Wizard" RubingerYears on tour: 6+2.6 minus Pitimes the coefficient of Xdivided by Y to the sixth power(sorry, we lost count andcouldn't figure it out either)In the bag: Numerous replacementbody parts. This guy has hadmore work done than my 11 yearold Audi.2011 Prediction: We are reallyexcited to see the Wizard back.With his wonderful colorcommentary and analysis, everyround just seems more exciting.Luckily, he hasn't played for ayear, didn't practice and washaving trouble packing hissuitcase. Scores should be highand his position on leader boardlow.

HCP :: 10.5

WILLIAM WARRIN

"Wild Bill" WarrinYears on tour: 7In the bag: Balls. Lots ofballs. Why does he needs 75balls in his bag? Is it a fearof lost balls (trust me, he lostthose a long time ago...), notknowing which would performbetter (something he also lost along time ago) or, he just can'tmake up his mind which kind touse?2011 Prediction: Watch out. Hecan hit it long, chip and puttlike a pro, and with hishandicap, he can close you outbefore the 11th hole. But thereis a reason he is called "Wild".Make sure you stand behind him,the cart or your playingpartner. Will probably finishin the middle.

HCP :: 15.2

TERRY STEELMAN

Terry "Nerves of Steel" SteelmanYears on tour: 3In the bag: Nerves carries anumber of special weapons thatgive him a leg up on thecompetition. These WMD'sinclude jet propelled golfballs, anti-slice tees and themost feared weapon of all, hisextra loud iPhone which alwaysseems to go off just before themoment of impact. Saddam hasnothing on this guy.2011 Prediction: PGA scoutingreports indicate that Nerves hada pretty good spring trainingcamp and may be tough to beat.However, since he is roomingwith Show me, all bets are off(could you concentrate on golfafter sleeping with Todd???).
