The Sutherland Sharks welcome the players and officials from the Parramatta Eagles

Club and all the supporters of both teams to Seymour Shaw today. Our new coach Grant Lee has settled in comfortably to his new role and was naturally disappointed when the team went down to Sydney FC last week 3-2. Two of Sydney’s goals came from Sutherland players who are pushing for Hyundai A-League contracts.

Wade Oostendorp and Nathan Denham have been absent through injury and should resume playing in the coming weeks. Tomohiro Kajiyama was back on the scoresheet again last week and we will be looking to him again to lead the way with Nathan Elasi who also scored last week.

Today is a very important game for both clubs as they both vie for valuable championship points. Parramatta received a boost when they gained the points from their loss against the Wolves in round one when the Wolves were found guilty of playing a suspended player.

The Sharks under 20s again demonstrated their class by dominating the first half last week but only took a one goal lead to the break against a strong Sydney FC side. They were disappointed to only come away with a 1-1 draw. The 18s will be looking to get on the winners list tonight after a lapse in form last week.

Players from Cronulla Seagulls and Menai Hawks under 9’s will entertain us during the breaks tonight. They have been training hard and are keen to demonstrate their skills.

Congratulations to our under 12s who have returned from their exciting Spain trip. They performed admirably winning their way through to the play off rounds. It was an eye opener for our kids to see how talented some of the footballers are in some of the top European Academies. Congratulations to the SAP kids that filled in admirably in their absence.

I hope everyone enjoys the game tonight and we celebrate a Sharks win!

FIRST GRADE

With a new coach at the helm, Sutherland Sharks are determined to get their season

back on track.

Experienced coach Grant Lee went close to snatching a draw against Sydney FC despite being 3-1 down. Lee said post match he was proud of the heart shown by his players and believes this is what can lead them to a strong second half of the season.

This week they face another team languishing towards the bottom half of the Table in Parramatta FC. Franco Cosentino’s side have experienced many of the same struggles Sutherland have faced this season and will be as desperate for the three points on offer.

Tomohiro Kajiyama will be one of the key pieces for Sutherland with the dynamic midfielder a constant box to box presence.

A win for either team will be a huge morale booster going into the second half of the season.

Sydney FC 3 - Sutherland Sharks FC 2 at Lambert Park

A strong attacking display has helped Sydney FC claim its second PlayStation®4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s win of the season after they edged Sutherland Sharks 3-2 at Lambert Park.

A free-flowing display of attacking football helped the young Sky Blues to victory, with goals to Charles Lokolingoy, Brendan Curtis and Juan Zapata helping the home side to three competition points.

Sutherland Sharks didn’t have the same control of the match as their opponents but their ability to punish Sydney FC’s mistakes kept them in the match right until the final moments, thanks to goals from Tomohiro Kajiyama and Nathan Elasi.

The result is sure to please Sydney FC coach Robbie Stanton as his side begins to find their groove at senior level.

Parramatta FC 0 - Hakoah Sydney City East 3 at Melita Stadium

A brace from Oliver Green led Hakoah Sydney City East to a comfortable 3-0 PlayStation®4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s victory over ten-man Parramatta in a scrappy round nine affair at Melita Stadium.

The Hakoah midfielder struck early on after sweeping home from close range and added a stunning third for his side late on with a sweetly struck effort from outside the box.

Minutes earlier Robert Ezequiel had made it 2-0 after racing on to a clever flick from Andre De Jong before steering the ball past Parramatta gloveman Ryan Norval.

The Eagles had their luckless showing compounded by the send-off of defender Tomislav Mijic, who saw red after a melee between both sides.

It capped a hugely frustrating night for the hosts, who offered a lot of endeavour after going behind early but saw several chances to restore parity go begging.

UNDER 20s

Parramatta are hoping to avoid a fifth consecutive defeat but the odds will be

stacked against them when they take on competition leaders Sutherland Sharks at Seymour Shaw.

Nick Dimovski’s first-placed outfit may have stuttered slightly in recent weeks with a 2-0 loss at home to Wollongong followed by a 1-1 stalemate with Sydney FC but the talented young Sutherland side still remain the team to beat so far this campaign.

The Sharks have amassed a huge 31 goals in their matches played and are capable of producing goals from anywhere on the field, with Jake Borromeo and Christian Torrelli leading the way with three apiece.

It will be a big test for Parramatta who were outclassed by Hakoah Sydney City East last Saturday. The Melita Stadium outfit may end round ten on the bottom of the ladder with Bonnyrigg steadily improving.
