FROM THE

WELCOME

Welcome back to Belmore Sports Ground for Round 19 of our 2017 campaign, brought

to you by our Match Day Sponsor, Nature’s Best Belfield! We’re taking on APIA Leichhardt Tigers in today’s Match of the Round, which I’m sure will be a great challenge for both teams.

After a disappointing loss last week to league leaders Blacktown City FC, the boys are ready to kick back into gear as we race to remain in the top five for finals football.

We’ve shown some excellent progress this season, with a goal of youth development in our first team and player progression. We’re very proud of Max Burgess’ move to Portugese club, Uniao da Madeira, and are excited to announce that youngster and Olympic native, Tass Mourdoukoutas, is currently overseas to explore

opportunities with clubs that are household names. We are committed to developing players and helping them to move on to bigger and better things and we are proud to be a club that enables progression.

Another great achievement in the Olympic family is youngster Noah Botic’s selection in the Joey’s squad that is currently participating in the AFF U15 Youth Championship in Thailand. The boys have qualified for the semi-finals and Botic has had some excellent performances, including scoring two goals against Indonesia and one against Myanmar, making him the fourth highest goal scorer in the competition so far and the highest in the Australian team. Congratulations Noah!

We’d like to take the opportunity to thank our sponsors for their unwavering support this season and for making our club run smoothly from SAP right through to First Grade.

Thank you to the members of our Olympic family for coming to show their support for the club each week.

I’d also like to thank our mascots and ball boys from Hurlstone Park Wanderers for participating in our match day. We hope everyone enjoys their half-time entertainment!

Enjoy the afternoon and we look forward to seeing everyone at our final home game for the 2017 season on Sunday 6th August against Hakoah Sydney City East.

Sydney Olympic will take on APIA Leichhardt Tigers on Sunday desperate to fix their

spiralling season.

Sitting pretty in third only weeks ago, Olympic has paid the price for a run of rough results and are only just clinging onto a finals spot.

The Belmore boys suffered a 4-0 loss at the hands of league leaders Blacktown City last round and will need a much improved performance if they are to defeat second placed APIA.

APIA come into the match with renewed confidence after defeating Parramatta FC 6-0.

Striker Jordan Murray found his eye for goal scoring three goals in nine minutes.

With five teams all within three points of each other on the table the margin for error is minimal.

The pressure is on Olympic but will they rise up to secure their finals fate?

Blacktown City FC 4 - Sydney Olympic FC 0 at Lily’s Football Centre

A James Andrew hat trick and a dominant second half performance has helped PlayStation®4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s league leaders Blacktown City to a 4-0 victory over Sydney Olympic at Lily’s Football Centre on Sunday afternoon.

The former Sutherland attacker was brought on at half time in a double substitution and laid on the opening goal for Joey Gibbs before claiming a fifteen-minute treble to keep City six points ahead of second-placed APIA Leichhardt.

The result is Blacktown’s seventh league victory in a row and leaves the Seven Hills outfit in pole position to claim their ninth premiership with Mark Crittenden’s side likely to seal their first trophy of the season with a win over APIA Leichhardt when the two challengers meet in round 21.

APIA Leichhardt Tigers 6 - Parramatta FC 0 at Lambert Park

APIA Leichhardt Tigers has returned to the winners circle with a dominant 6-0 PlayStation®4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s victory against Parramatta FC at Lambert Park on Sunday.

Jordan Murray was the star of the performance after the young striker scored a hat trick in only nine minutes in a relentless showing from APIA.

An own goal from Parramatta’s Marcus Plataniotis started the APIA onslaught and within 29 minutes the home side had a six goal lead thanks to Murray’s three goals as well as a strike from Josh Symons and a second Parramatta own goal.

APIA took their foot off the gas in the second half, but the damage was done as they clinched a vital three points after what has been a tough few weeks for the club.

WESTFIELD FFA CUP

Two enthralling Member Federation v Hyundai A-League club matchups, on back-to-back

nights, both of which will be broadcast LIVE on FOX SPORTS, headline the schedule for the 16 fixtures of this year’s Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32.

Victorian club Heidelberg United will welcome Perth Glory to Olympic Village on Tuesday 1 August before current PlayStation 4 NPL NSW league leaders Blacktown City host the Central Coast Mariners the following night at Lily’s Football Centre.

The last time a Westfield FFA Cup Final Round match was held at Olympic Village a crowd of 11,372 packed in to watch Heidelberg United, who had Greece international Kostas Katsouranis in their line-up, take on Melbourne City FC back in 2015.

The Central Coast Mariners will be looking to avoid a repeat of their shock Round of 32 loss to Green Gully last year, while for Blacktown City it is another opportunity to try and topple a Hyundai A-League opponent after coming up short against Sydney FC in last year’s Quarter Finals.

South Melbourne’s Cup tie against Northern NSW outfit Edgeworth Eagles at Lakeside Stadium will be the FOX SPORTS broadcast match on the traditional all-Member Federation opening night.

The other three matches scheduled to kick start the Round of 32 on Wednesday 26 July will see Round of 32 debutantes Hills United and Bankstown Berries host Hakoah Sydney City East

and South Australia’s MetroStars respectively, with last season’s semi finalists Canberra Olympic heading west to face the Jamie Harnwell coached Sorrento at Percy Doyle Reserve.

Night two features the David and Goliath contest between Brisbane Premier League side Peninsula Power and reigning Westfield FFA Cup winners Melbourne City FC at Dolphin Stadium, Tasmania’s entrant Olympia Warriors FC host APIA Leichhardt Tigers, while for the second year in a row Western Sydney Wanderers FC will meet Wellington Phoenix at Campbelltown Stadium.

Queensland’s Wolter Park and Mallawa Sporting Complex will both host matches on night three (2 August) as the home venues of Moreton Bay United and Gold Coast City, while Sydney FC will head to the Top End to face Northern Territory entrant Darwin Rovers FC at Darwin Football Stadium.

Rounding off the Round of 32 on Wednesday 9 August is an all-Victorian PS4 NPL blockbuster between former Westfield FFA Cup semi finalists Hume City and Bentleigh Greens at ABD Stadium, with Sydney United 58 FC and FNQ Heat to do battle in the Westfield FFA Cup Final Rounds for the second time at Sydney United Sports Centre.

The final two matches are all Hyundai A-League affairs as Brisbane Roar FC host 2015 Westfield FFA Cup winners Melbourne Victory in the boutique surroundings of Perry Park, and inaugural Cup holders Adelaide United take on the Newcastle Jets

at Marden Sports Complex.

As well as broadcasting one match LIVE and exclusive in full on each match night, FOX SPORTS will also LIVE stream and provide updates and crosses of all other matches. Broadcast and LIVE streaming details will be released closer to the opening match night.

Ticketing information for each of the Westfield FFA Cup 2017 Round of 32 matches will be released in due course by each home club. Please visit www.theffacup.com.au for further details and fixtures.

Sydney Olympic host APIA Leichhardt Tigers at Belmore on Sunday with the Blues in

desperate need of a win to get their finals charge back on track.

The Blues have been top half regulars for most of the season but three matches without a win has seen Olympic slide into ninth position with four rounds remaining - joining a cluster of sides scrapping for a spot in the top five.

APIA Leichhardt meanwhile returned to winning form thanks to a 6-0 defeat of Parramatta last Sunday, a win which gives the fourth-placed Tigers a little more room to breathe as they gear up for the home stretch.

Michael Urukalo’s side are three points ahead of sixth-placed Hakoah Sydney City East but with Bonnyrigg, Sydney United 58 and opponents Olympic all within striking distance of the Tigers the Lambert Park outfit will no doubt regard a win on Sunday against the struggling Blues as imperative.

Although Olympic have improved their defence at the tail end of the campaign and may yet play finals football this season, the firepower of APIA’s frontline – where Aedon Kyra and Jordan Morfitis have accounted for 19 of the Tigers’ 45 goals scored – could land a significant blow to the reigning champions.
