MOBILE MOMENTS 5.0Mobile Moments is a film portraiture project on a bike. Hop on and let’s share a ride through the KickstART Festival! We’ll talk about the little things, the big things or anything in between. While we ride, and with your consent, you will be filmed and your image will be used to create a short film celebrating you and the people that make your town unique. The Mobile Moments 5.0 short film will premiere during the KickstART Klozer on Sunday 24 April.

CO3 YOUTH ENSEMBLE PERFORMANCECo3’s Act-Belong-Commit Co:Youth Ensemble present a collection of site-specific dance and movement performances, created by the young dancers in response to the unique space and sounds of the Perth Cultural Centre. Combining elements of improvisation with structured choreography, these short dance pieces move and weave the young performers through the crowd. Watch from afar, or be bold and get close to the action!

ALL FIRED UP PARADEJoin Perth artists Anna Dunnill and Renae Coles from Snapcat for the ALL FIRED UP parade. Make your own colourful banner expressing what gets you ‘all fired up’ from 11.00am before joining the parade at 12.00pm. The parade will leave for its city tour from Cathedral Square through the city towards the Perth Cultural Centre, so be sure to wear your loudest clothes! Tiny Parades was originally commissioned by the Perth Public Art Foundation as a part of PerthFLUX.

SCITECH SCIENCE WONDERLANDCome explore today’s world of technology with Scitech at the KickstART Festival! Battle it out in the Robot Arena or challenge your friends to giant puzzles. See a 3D printer in action or try your hand at a Segway (must be 18yrs+).

Immerse yourself in Virtual Reality with Scitech’s Samsung Gear VR station! Supported by Oculus technology, these portable headsets allow you to explore fascinating new worlds or experience a rollercoaster ride - all without leaving your seat (must be 13yrs+).

DOT AND DASH – LIVE PAINTING ROBOTSRobots can be many things, including artists. Cake Industries are completing a 2-week residency with the young people from DADAA’s Act-Belong-Commit Artlink Program, using robots and robotics as tools to create art. With these robots, the group creates and explores ways of making a shared work in a public space, while discussing and showing the work to KickstART participants.

BLOOM – A CROWD SOURCED GARDENBLOOM is an urban toy, a distributed social game and collective “gardening” experience that feeds on people’s interaction. Due to the flexibility and resilience of the building cells, the ‘rules’ of the game can be bent; you can twist them, you can mold them, and you can contort them to find different shapes. Like in the clouds, BLOOM formations are in the eyes of the beholder. Proudly presented by Park’d at Curtin University.

A SAFE SPACE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE TO COME AND CHAT TO THOSE IN THE KNOW ABOUT MENTAL WELLBEING, CRITICAL THINKING, SEXUAL HEALTH AND GETTING YOUR AFFAIRS IN ORDER.What are you passionate about? What interests you? The National Youth Week Planning Committee have exclusively devised and organised a range of discussion forums to spark conversations regarding topics important to young people today. Inquire, connect, share, learn and have your say about topics relevant to you!

Once again, the KickstART Forums will be streamed online in real time. Young people living in regional WA can register, tune in online and participate over the net!

Whether you’re attending in person or online, forum registrations are limited so book your place now at propel.org.au/KickstART-Forums , where you can also find up-to-date information on forum hosts and speakers.

REACHING OUT: BUSTING THE MYTHS OF MENTAL HEALTH One in four young Australians has a mental health condition, yet the stigma surrounding mental health and its treatment remains. This forum focuses on ways to reach out – whether you’re concerned about your own mental health or that of a family member or friend. Our panel will work with participants to debunk myths surrounding mental health. The forum will wrap up with tips on how to take care of one’s mental health and what to do in situations that require ‘mental health first aid’.

WHEN: Friday 15 April, 6.00 – 7.30pm

WHERE: Northbridge Piazza, cnr Lake Street & James Street, Northbridge

DECODING THE NEWS: CRITICAL THINKING AND THE MEDIA When major news stories require a wealth of background knowledge to be understood, deciphering them can appear impossible. How can we keep abreast of current events in an age where the news cycle is more immediate and prolific than ever before? How can we know which news sources are reliable? This forum will present pointers on how young people can decode news stories that seem overwhelming, along with advice on how to be a critical thinker and how to “read between the lines” in the news.

WHEN: Monday 18 April, 6.00 – 7.30pm

WHERE: Northbridge Piazza, cnr Lake Street & James Street, Northbridge

THE STATE OF SEXUAL HEALTH TODAYYoung people are rarely given the resources needed to feel completely in charge of their sexuality. The LGBTIQ community and people with disabilities are often left in the dark during conversations surrounding sexual health. This forum challenges myths surrounding sexual health, with a focus on the LGBTIQ community and people with disabilities. Tackling these questions will be a panel of experts consisting of a reproductive health specialist, a representative for the LGBTIQ community, and a representative for people with disabilities. Participants will be able to anonymously submit questions for the panel.

WHEN: Wednesday 20 April, 6.00 – 8.00pm

WHERE: Northbridge Piazza, cnr Lake Street & James Street, Northbridge

HOW TO ADULT: LIFE ADMIN FOR BEGINNERSWhat does becoming an adult mean to you? Graduating from high school? Graduating from university? Getting your first ‘real’ job? Maybe it means buying your own health insurance? Whatever it may mean to you, there is no denying that adulthood comes with a host of duties that often raise more questions than answers. These answers are assumed to be common knowledge amongst young people making the transition into adulthood, meaning that young people are often left to fend for themselves when facing these obstacles. Here we want to help. This forum aims to give you the right tools to fix your everyday adult woes.

WHEN: Thursday 21 April, 6.00 – 7.30pm

WHERE: Northbridge Piazza, cnr Lake Street & James Street, Northbridge
