KidSummer Natural History Day Programs Program: First Encounters Program: Extreme Science Program: Junior Naturalist Ages 3 & 4 9 am-11:30 am 5-Day Session M-F $190M; $215NM 3-Day Session M,W,F $150M; $170NM is course is designed to develop independence, encourage observation, and offer peer interaction. It will incorporate activities geared to this age level which foster a love of the natural world through adventures and explorations. Children must be toilet trained and have had their third birthday. Ages 5-6 9 am-11:30 am 5-Day Session M-F $190M; $215NM 3-Day Session M,W,F $150M; $170NM An opportunity to develop a child’s science skills through games, stories, creative projects, experiments and lots of outdoor exploration. Each week is unique and covers enough variety to engage the child who comes multiple weeks. Ages 7-9 9 am-2 pm 5-Day Session Week M-F $260M; $290NM Explore, Discover, Experiment! Projects and activities designed to build a strong foundation for the wide range of natural history topics covered each week, incorporating activities in biology, physiology, and ecology. Live animal tank care. Premium outdoor exploration of the 400-acre environment surrounding the Museum! Ages 10-12 9 am-2 pm 5-Day Session Week M-F $300M; $325NM Challenging the serious science student to embrace the opportunities of investigating the wetlands, tidal flats, upland forests and creeks, all on the 400 acres surrounding the Museum. Marine biology, aquatics, paddle boarding, a Punkhorn hike, beehive openings and live animal tank care along with outdoor explorations are the centerpiece of each week. Ages 13-15 9 am-3 pm 5-Day Session Week M-F $215M; $240NM Limited to 8 students/week. is program is designed as a part classroom, part practicum experience for middle school students. Half a day will focus on specific areas of the Museum, plus beehive openings, paddle boarding and a Punkhorn hike. ese learning experiences provide information and research opportunities preparing the student for the afternoon practicum. e other half of the day places the student at a specific Museum station, ready to greet guests, answer questions and provide information about the many exhibits and trails. e practicum counts as volunteer hours for school/community requirements. e ideal participant has a high interest in extending his or her natural science knowledge and sharing their enthusiasm of the natural world with the Museum visitors. KidSummer programs focus on this important concept in age-appropriate ways, emphasizing biology, physiology, and ecology. Children will come away with an understanding of the relationships among plants, insects, birds, and mammals. Our Museum campus is surrounded by a unique outdoor laboratory –

By focusing on relationships in nature400 acres of conservation land on Cape Cod Bay – that encompasses upland woods, alewife brook, beech forest, salt marsh, barrier dunes, ocean beach, and tidal pools. Three trails wind through these habitats and a native wildflower garden. The programs combine outdoor exploration, STEAM based classroom projects and experiments.
