This is my arts and design portfolio, designed as a magazine. I was inspired by various arts and design magazine, thus I decided to create my portfolio to simulate such publications. Here, you can check out my resume, my biography, and of course sample of my art and design work I have done over the years. T H E H I S T O R Y o f a m u l t i m e d i a a r t i s t

Eugene Aldrein C. Paglicawan, also known to many as Kiko or Kixmachina in the internet, is a Multimedia Artist and Graphic Artist by profession. He was born on August 12, 1986 atthe City of Manila, Philippines to parents Benjamin Paglicawan and Soledad Paglicawan. He is the second out of three children.

He graduated from De La Salle - Collegeof St. Benilde with a degree of AB-Multimedia Arts. DLS-CSB is a collegewell known for its School of Designand Art, where Multimedia Artsis a course included in the curriculum. It’s in this college where Kiko first learned about the principles of art and design. During this time, he had freelance work and internship at Interactive Art Services in Makati City, Philippines as part of his On The Job Training.

After graduation, Kiko had his first training atWideout Technology Services in Fort Bonifacio in Taguig City, where he learned making Flash Ads and Print Designs. Later, on February 2011, Kiko got his first actual job at Learning Raised E-Power located in Alabang, Muntinlupa as a Multimedia Artist. Here, he learned to make Kidesigns and assets for e-learning modules.

Kiko would later take on animation training at Take One Animation Studio, a subcontractor for Toei Animation Philippines. Here, he learned about making Japanese Animation, training as an assistant animator.

He later worked for Affinity Express, a business process outsourcing design company located in Quezon City on Sept 2012. Here, he made interactive advertisements for American clients. It was in this company that Kiko learned how to work under pressure while retaining quality work. His latest employment was with Standard Insurace, located in Makati. He was assigned as the resident multimedia artist. He handled many responsibilities such as graphic design, photography, videography and marketing support. Now, Kiko is currently working as a freelance artist and just finished a project with the Xavier Alumni Association for their alumni conference.

During his spare time, Kiko does indie art and comics, as well as playing trading card games.

Standard Insurance is the leading motorcar and general fire insurance company in the Philippines. Their mission is to provide excellent insurance products and services to the growing needs of the Philippine market. They offer a wide range of property and

general insurance products for individuals, small and medium enterprises and local and global corporations. Founded in 1958, they have insured the Filipino customer for more than 57 years through our 42 branches, dealer/agents and brokers network nationwide.

Kiko Paglicawan started working for Standard Insurance on January 15, 2014 as the company’s Multimedia Artist. He worked under Ms. Jie Combalicer of the Marketing Communications Department. His duties included the creation of marketing materials such as flyers, brochures, tarpaulins and signages; as well as advertisement material for newspapers, magazines and social media. He was also tasked in handling the photo and video requirements of the company, doing the shoot as well as the editing of photos and video. Aside from doing design work, he also assisted in the company’s various events such as exhibits, corporate parties, company sponsored sports events, product presentations and other relevant events.

Kiko made a significant contribution to Standard Insurance through his job as Multimedia Artist. He helped in redefining the company’s corporate branding, updating the look and feel of the company’s marketing materials, as well as handling the company’s marketing requirements, not only for the Marketing Department, but with the other departments and branches as well.

Highlights of Kiko’s work for Standard Insurance includes the update of the company’s logo, enhancing the company’s marketing materials, design for the company’s products such as Travel Protect, Emergency Protect, My Standard Online, Roadside Assistance Program, iCampus and numerous other projects.

Kiko Paglicawan’s design work for Standard Insurance revolves around the use of the company’s corporate colors (Pantone 143C Yellow and Gray) to maintain consistency. He also made use of san serif fonts such as Gill Sans and Railways Sans in marketing materials to give Standard Insurance a modern look.

Kiko also favored the use of icons and shapes to further emphasize the look of modernity in the marketing materials. He also favored the use of a single image in one side for many of his designed marketing materials to accent the look of the design without distracting too much on the contents of the material.

iCAMPUS and Videos

The iCampus is an instructional medium that was created by Standard Insurance to provide the necessary knowledge to their employees about the business of non-life insurance and the manner they operate. Learning is facilitated by posting educational

modules, lectures and conversations with both company and industry experts on video on the different aspects of the business, including the fundamentals. These series of videos are hosted by Mr. Gerald Galang, Head of the Training Division of the HR Department. Kiko Paglicawan had a vital role in the production of the iCampus videos, as he handled all the aspects of the video production. This includes the setup of the camera, lights and audio; the actual shoot of the video, up to editing and post-production. He mainly handled three topics for the iCampus; Marketing, Risk Management & Underwriting and Claims. In this set of videos, Kiko utilized the use of HD video, as well as the use of lighting equipment and special lapel mics for audio clarity. He also used these techniques for the other company videos as well.

| xavier alumni conference

Around the last two weeks of June 2016, Kiko Paglicawan was approached by Mr. John Echauz, President of Standard Insurance, to create a Program Manual design to be used for the First Xavier Alumni Conference. The Xavier Alumni Conference was a project of the

Xavier School Batch 91, with the goal of informing and inspiring the Xavier School community through 60+ sessions led by notable and accomplished Xavier alumni from a wide range of felds and disciplines. The alumni included CEOs, entrepreneurs, academicians, researchers, artists, athletes and two senators. This project was also made for the benefit of the four beneficiaries of Xavier School.

The whole basis of the design was based on the program cover studies. When Mr. Echauz has chosen Design A as the cover for the program manual, the design used for it became the basis for all of the design of the manual contents, images for social media, as well as tarpaulin and advertisements. The colors and images used were based from the school colors, as well as the school’s design motifs. In doing so, all of the materials used for this project had that consistent look that is recognizable especially for the alumni, students and other members of the Xavier school community. In the end, with the help of these designs, the conference achieved its goal of having over 700 participants.

FLASHBACK: AFFINITY EXPRESS

AffinityX is a leading white label creative and marketing services partner for companies that serve small and

medium businesses. They help clients drive new revenue by offering everything their customers need, from physical to digital, logos, print ads, websites, online ad campaigns, and much more. They specialize in online advertising production, design of websites and micro-sites, email design, video editing and production, social media services, mobile ads and sites. They are headquartered in Elgin, Illinois with design and production facilities in Pune, India, and Manila, Philippines, and personnel throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Kiko Paglicawan began working for Affinity Express on September 2012. His job designation was Graphic Designer for Interactive, and thus majority of his work here are dynamic flash ads mainly catered for American clients. The work has to be done fast, as the usual turn around was 3-4 hours. It was here that Kiko learned how to design and layout quickly and well under pressure. FLASHBACK: LEARNING E

Learning Raised E Power Corp. or simply “Learning-e” is a fast growing IT services and solutions provider based in Ayala Alabang, Muntinlupa City, Philippines. They are an e-learning and

web applications development company with customers mostly from Europe and several local corporations. They offer an affordable range of proven products and services that enables the rapid creation, management, and delivery of online learning.

It was in this company where Kiko Paglicawan began his first ever employment. This was his first job as a Multimedia Artist. It was here that Kiko developed his penchant for clean, minimalist designs especially for interfaces and layouts. Kiko’s work in this company was varied, from doing graphics, flash coding & animation, video and even 3D modeling and animation using 3ds Max. He was heavily involved in making and/or improving E-modules for foreign companies such as Eriks NV, Bijenkorf, TNT/PostNL; as well as local clients like Kia and EastWest Bank.

HOBBY WORKS: KOMIKON

One of Kiko Paglicawan’s hobbies is creating indie comics. A few years ago, he helped in forming an

indie comic circle named Guild Mistral and created a comic titled Saudade (pronounced as sao-da-chi). This was done in an event called Komikon, the Philippine Independent Comics convention held every year at Mandaluyong City, Philippines.

Even in his hobbies, Kiko makes sure he applies all of his graphic designs skills, as well as his flair for multimedia work. He does not only do illustrations for the indie comic circle, he also does layouting work, editing and creating marketing material such as stickers and bookmarks.

Kiko mainly does his illustrations and coloring work on Paint Tool SAI. He then does additional effects and finishing in Photoshop. Then he finally does the layout on Adobe Illustrator.

HOBBY WORKS: WSPH

Trading card games, one of Kiko Paglicawan’s main hobbies. Some of these include Pokemon TCG,

Force of Will and Weiss Schwarz. Kiko met a lot of people through this hobby, and helped increase his connections and network.

Kiko liked Weiss Schwarz because as an anime based TCG, it caters to two of his interests, anime and card games. Because of that Kiko spent a great deal of effort not only playing the game, but promoting it as well. Aside from playing, he helped the Philippine’s Weiss Schwarz community grow by creating the community logo, Facebook pages, banners, posters and other marketing material to entice more players for the Weiss Schwarz TCG.
