We will have information on home-link resources, which

you can borrow to support learning at home.

Janice will showcase her parenting programme, which

you can access through the nursery.

Rag Bag

Recycling Scheme

The nursery takes part in a rag-bag

scheme and has a permanent storage

container in the garden. The items

accepted include wearable clothing,

paired shoes, handbags and belts.

This is a very easy fundraiser so

please support us when you can.

REMEMBER TO USE OUR NEW BANK DETAILS

The co-operative bank

Account: 65823992, Sort: 08-92-99

Please note: Our old account is now closed and all

payments must be made to the new account above.

Thank you.

Tax-Free Childcare

We have now registered for Tax-Free

Childcare. Tax-Free Childcare is a new

online government service to help parents to

pay their childcare providers. For every £8

you pay into your Childcare Account, the

government will add in an extra £2. You can

then use that money to pay your childcare.

For more information go to www.gov.uk/tax-

free-childcare.

NURSERY ITEMS FOR SALE!!

POLOSHIRT £8.50

SWEATSHIRT £10.00

HAT £5.00

SHOE BAG £5.00

LUNCH CUBE £5.00

Nursery Session Times

Can we remind you of the importance of adhering to your

child’s session times. Collecting your child early can disrupt the

nursery routine and collecting them late impacts on staff time

for other duties. Drop off times are just as important,

particularly at 12.30. As lunch sessions are full, staff on duty at

this time are very busy and it can be disruptive to the routine

if they have to go to the door for children arriving early for

their afternoon session. We would request that, if you do

arrive early to drop off or collect your child, you wait in the

porch for the door to be opened. The only exception to this is

if your child attends breakfast club or late session. The door is

always manned at the main drop off and collection times.

Please be patient and wait for staff to open it for you. Thank

you for your support in this matter.

Lunch Box Logic

Can we request that children staying for

lunch bring their lunches in a box labelled

with their name. We store all lunches in a

fridge and boxes are much easier to store

than large lunch bags. Boxes are available to

purchase from the nursery.

Car Parking

Please ensure that everyone

who transports your child to

and from nursery is aware

that they must not use the

staff car park, either to park in

or walk through. This is for

your child’s safety. The only

exception is for children being

dropped off before 8.30am or

collected after 4pm.

Spare Clothes and Wellies

As the children use the garden every day it is essential that you provide a

complete change of spare clothes. Socks are particularly important. Please

also bring wellies as these are ideal for playing in the garden.

All children must bring soft shoes to wear in nursery. This is particularly

important for pre-schoolchildren using the school gym hall.

Please Note: Due to the limited space in the cloakroom, all bags and footwear

must be taken home each day.

Arrival Routine

When brining your child to nursery please help them follow the

arrival routine:

Change into their soft shoes

Hang bag and coat on their peg

Peg outdoor shoes together and place under the bench

Wash their hands (Green, Orange and Yellow groups use

sink in base 3. Blue and Red groups use children’s toilets.)

Accompany them to their group

Lending Library

Our lending library is situated in the

cloakroom. Parents are encouraged

to support their children to choose

a book to read at home. Books are

also available for older and younger

siblings.

Foodbank

We will be collecting items of groceries

to donate to the Johnstone foodbank

during the first week in October. This

will allow us to deliver the donations

before the school holiday when the

bank is more heavily used.

Who all have

birthdays in August or

September!

This month in Nursery

The children have chosen their new topic

and it is ‘Transport’. The views were

gathered from information in the ‘All

about me’ booklets from new children

and in discussions with all children.

Maths week is 11 – 15th of the month and

with the primary school we will be

focusing on maths activities.

Children will be learning counting songs in

preparation for our sponsored event on

21st September.

Please take time to look at the planning

notice board in the cloakroom for more

details of what is going on in nursery. This

will be updated on a weekly basis.

Kilbarchan Community Nursery SCIO

We are delighted to introduce our new trustees for 2017 / 18. The trustees

were elected at the AGM by the parents present and have assumed the

following roles:

Name Position

Catherine Macklon Chair

Lindsay Fraser Vice Chair

Hazel Munton Treasurer

Alison Renfrew Secretary

Nikki Gardner Garden / Maintenance coordinator

Jacqueline Preiss Social / Fundraising coordinators

Lorna Miller

The trustees are volunteers and are essential to the management of a

community nursery. They are responsible for co-ordinating parent working

groups, the main role is to raise funds to support the running of the nursery.

Please support them in their duties when you can.

There are monthly parent’s meetings held in the nursery for all parents and

carers. At these meetings the trustees keep you informed of events and

management issues. Senior staff also attend to share information about

what is happening in nursery. The meetings are informal and offer a good

opportunity to meet other parents and have a chat over a coffee and biscuit.

The next parents meeting is on Thursday 28th September at 7.30pm we

hope to see as many of you there as possible.

Outdoor Learning

The forest kindergarten sessions will get underway this term on

Monday and Thursday mornings. Thank you to the parents who

have offered to help.

We now have two members of staff allocated to the garden so

that more children can access it on a daily basis. Please ensure

your child brings wellies and suitable outdoor clothing, which is

ok to get dirty. Also a change of clothes is essential, particularly

socks.

Maths Week

During Maths Week the children will be taking part in a range of

maths related activities throughout the nursery and in the

garden. Parents and carers are invited to ‘Stay and Play’ during

the week. A calendar is available on the notice board for you to

add your name to if you wish to join us.

Our sponsored event will carry on throughout maths week and

into the following week. The children will learn a range of

counting songs and rhymes. Parents are invited to join us at 11

AM or 2.30 PM on Thursday 21st September to hear the children

recite their songs and rhymes. All money raised will go towards

purchasing resources for our new maths home-link learning bags.
