Kimball Park, the name derived from the founder of National City. But there is more to the park than you think. Off in the corner sits a hulking gray object. This object is the Kimball Park Memorial Bowl, a place where the men and women of our armed forces that served in World War II are honored for their bravery and their sacrifice. Unlike many memorials this one is used every day but seemingly forgotten, but I want to change that. I want to give this theater a new look that will draw people in and make them look and think twice about this thing that they use everyday.

I wanted to push the boundaries of what a memorial was, as well as stay within the realm of what it means to commemorate those who have fought and died for our country. Seeing as doing both in a single instance is impossible I have laid out several designs that is the voice of what I think it means to push boundaries.

The theater is the place for cheering and celebration, and here that is exactly what they do. They celebrate the memory of our countries independence day, they celebrate the men and women in the armed forces, now and wars past that this very aphitheater was made for.
