Mission Statement:

The Kimberly Baseball Organization (KBO) is a non-profit, volunteer organization whose mission is to support, organize, manage, teach, and develop high quality and affordable youth boy’s baseball programs within the Kimberly Area School District.

The KBO supports both league and tournament teams for boys from ages 13 through 18, and also supports youth tournament travel teams for boys from ages 9 through 12 who are interested in playing in more competitive situations.

Important Note: Please note that the KBO is a separate organization from the baseball programs offered by KHS, Village of Kimberly and Village of Combined Locks.

Goals:

• Provide players that have desire and ability an opportunity to play on teams that play against other top teams in the state.

• Provide a high-level of competitiveness and a challenging environment so that skills of each player will be enhanced both physically and mentally as an individual and as a teammate.

Page 12: Kimberly Baseball Organization 2012 Registration and Parent Meeting

2012 Travel Team Guideline Highlights:1. Open tryouts will be held for all interested participants. Evaluators for each tryout will consist of

individuals assigned by the KHS Head Baseball Coach and the TTC as well as the head coach assigned to that team if one has been assigned at that time. Coach will communicate to players and players’ parents regarding cuts in a reasonable amount of time (within one week).

2. Participants must live or attend school within the Kimberly School District to be eligible for participation.

3. Roster size will typically be a minimum of 10-12 players with a maximum number to de determined by the team coaches. Coach’s discretion. Evaluations need to solidify that a player is skilled enough so as not to be a hazard to himself or his teammates from a safety standpoint. Also, see #7.

4. Each player must be in the starting lineup in at least every other game, and all players should participate in approx. ½ of the team’s total number of innings for the season. Exceptions may be allowed, at the coach discretion, based upon attitude, discipline, or absences.

5. All teams are required to conduct a mandatory parent’s meeting to review schedule, expectations, fees, and pitching guidelines.

6. Pitching schedules must be communicated with league coaches and parents. Coaches will adhere to all tournament pitching requirements. In all cases, coaches are to error on the side of caution, acting in the best interest and safety of the pitcher. (*Pitch counts and mandatory rest are beginning to be discussed)

Page 13: Kimberly Baseball Organization 2012 Registration and Parent Meeting

2012 Travel Team Guideline Highlights:7. **If keeping more than 12 man roster, coach can add another tourney with a rotation system taking place

among players.**Kimberly Travel Teams must make every possible effort to participate in Kimberly Youth Tournament. **All parents are expected to volunteer.

8. KBO will provide tournament entry fees up to 5 tournaments not to exceed $1000 for 9 & 10 year old teams; up to 6 tournaments not to exceed $1200 for 11 & 12 year old teams and up to 3 tournaments not to exceed $750 for 13 & 14 year old teams

9. 2012 player fee is set at 1 of 3 choices for parents:• $0 fee and ten (10) KBO raffle calendars• $50 fee and five (5) KBO raffle calendar sales• $100 fee and zero (0) KBO raffle calendars

Players are responsible for purchasing their own hat, pants & socks as well as other expenses not covered by KBO’s sponsorship. Team hats will be the hitting league hats for 9-12 teams and KBO league hats for 13 & 14 year old teams. Coaches need to communicate this to parents up front so that there are no hidden costs or collections mid-year. Fees will be collected once prior to the first tournament!!!

10. Uniform distribution and management will be designated to a team manager.

11. KBO will provide the teams with equipment: equipment bags, batting helmets, catcher’s glove, catchers gear, two (2) dozen practice balls, first aid kit, scorebook, 36 whiffle balls and one tee. Additional whiffle balls will be distributed upon request if a team is wearing them out. Coaches are responsible for pick-up, care of, and return of this equipment. Equipment should be cleaned and returned in a timely manner.

Page 14: Kimberly Baseball Organization 2012 Registration and Parent Meeting

2012 Travel Team Guideline Highlights:

12. The high school head baseball coach will be responsible for selecting team coaches as well as entering each level into tournaments, reviewing these guidelines with head coaches, and enforcing compliance measures if necessary. Coaching applications are due on or before February 1st each year with coach selections to be recommended/communicated to KBO Board of Directors by March 1st.

13. Teams failing to comply with these guidelines will forfeit KBO sponsorship, tournament funding, use of equipment.

Note: The Travel Team Committee’s recommendation to the KBO is to field two (2) teams at each level 9-12, with teams being split equally at each level. The 13 and 14 year old levels will each field one team with consideration to have two teams if numbers, talent, and coaching permits. Each team would aim to carry twelve (12) players, but this is dependent on the numbers for each age group. Tournament registration will consist of the number of tournaments allotted each age group and will be planned accordingly for each level.
