Hand-painted 6’ x 10’ copy of Ingres' 1814 Odalisque on scrim and mounted it in an oversized frame. Lit from the front, the painting looked solid. Backlit, it became transparent to reveal the play’s performers.

Researched the 1893 exposition in order to generate original, architecturally-accurate digital art, rendered to appear black and white and then hand-colored to convey a tinted-postcard style. From rendering,
painted and installed two 13’ x 20’ murals by slicing the work into five vertical strips and wallpapering it onto sides of entrance lobby.

Full Moon“Suite Home Chicago” Public Art Entry by Thomas O’Brien

Cut out sections of the event-issued, fiberglass furniture, replaced sections with translucent material and engineered lighting fixtures to glow from within. Fastened tiny, reflective-glass spheres to all furniture surfaces and made a duvet throw, installing miniature
lights into the hem. Painted a luminous 14’ x 10’ full-moon mural and created a theatrical, timed lighting program which included clock-face projections.

Designed and painted Eiffel Tower onto sections of poly muslin and sewed them together. Structurally defined by airplane cable, the completed sculpture was supported the lightweight interior with metal frames and suspended from the atrium ceiling by a
single pickpoint.

In two days, decorated a 32’ tall holiday tree in 3’ segments, calculating surface area to distribute 2,188 ornaments of various sizes and quantities equally. Distribution calculations had to be exact as there was no opportunity for rearrangement.
