    The Great Wall of China

    THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA was finished off at its northernmost corner. From

    the southeast and the southwest it came up in two sections that fina! con"er#ed

    decrees of the hi#h command% when we disco"ered that without the hi#h command

    Now one of the most o$scure of our institutions is that of the empire itsef. In

    *e'in#% natura!% at the imperia court% there is some carit! to $e found on this

    su$)ect% thou#h e"en that is more iusi"e than rea. Aso the teachers of poitica aw

    and histor! in the schoos of hi#her earnin# caim to $e e/act! informed on these
