Carter Smith | 1st hourKing Tutankhamun Who was Howard Carter?Howard Carter was born in 1874 in England1Howard Carter came to Egypt to study archaeology when he was 17 years old2He was a very good artist, which he inherited from his dad3Carter worked for 5 years in Egypt before finding anything important4

Howard Carter found King Tuts tomb5He found a stone wall with a sarcophagus on February 17,1923Carters workmen began working on November 1, 19226Lord Carnarvon help to fund Howard Carter in looking for King Tut Lord Carnarvon told Carter that he was going to stop funding but Carter begged for 10 more days and within those 10 days he found King TutOnce Carter found King Tut he telegraphed Lord Carnarvon, who was in London and it took him 3 weeks to get to Egypt73King Tut was the 12th King of the 18th Dynasty8He was married to Ankhesenamon who was the 3rd Daughter of Queen Nefertiti9He died when he was only 19 and there are many speculations around his death10Tut lived in Akhenaten11Tuts parents were brother and sister12He had longer arms and legs, which was called Marfan Syndrome13He also had Craniosynostosis which is a long gated head14He also had scoliosis (a curved spine) which made it hard for him to walk15

The TombKing Tuts tomb was found in 192316Anubis guarded the entrance to the treasury17There were 4 miniature coffins found in the tomb, and in each one there were King Tuts organs (lungs, liver, stomach, and intestines)18 The goddess Selket guarded the shrine containing the organs19There were 4 layers on Tuts tomb20King Tut was buried with his two stillborn daughters and a piece of hair from his grandmother Queen Tiye21

King Tut is hold a flail in his left had on the Sarcophagus22 A flail is a tool that helps separate grain from their husks23In Tuts right hand he is holding a crook24A crook is a tool that was used by shepherds to help gather and moves their flocks of sheep25

Last year the beard on King Tuts sarcophagus was broken off by a museum worker26The worker tried to cover it up by using super glue27When they had to go in and fix the beard, they found what they thought was King Tuts name in Hieroglyphs28They found out that it was actually Queen Nefertitis sarchaphagus29The Mummys CurseLord Carnarvon died just 4 months after they found King Tut30Once Lord Carnarvon died in London all of the lights went out in Cairo31Carters canary, that he got for good luck, was eaten by a cobra the day that Carter found Tut32A cobra was on the brow of King Tut33Quick Facts on King Tut: Tut was born in 1343 in Amarna34Tuts mom was Nefertiti35He married his half sister36He was only 9 when he came to power and he was a minor king, but is famous for his tomb37He was born in the Valley of the Kings 70 days after his death383,500 different items were found in his tomb39His sarcophagus weighs 10 kilos which is 22 pounds40Little known Fact about King Tut King Tut was not killed from a head wound41King Tuts head was impaled after his death possibly by Carters excavation team42Tut had broken a leg right before his death and it supposedly got an infection and this is how he died43Tut also had Malaria which may have made his body weaker and easier to get infections44
