AriesFollow your instincts and fi nish what needs to be fi nished, to make room for action, pure and simple. Be careful, however, to avoid upsetting the sensibilities of those close to you by being too candid and allowing yourself to be drawn into futile confl icts!

GeminiYou will be supported in this by those around you, convincing them eff ectively of your ideas with your elegant style and tact.Your professional life will be going through some logistical and technical changes. If you are single at the moment, you will have some spontaneous encounters, which will add to your maturity and give you food for thought regarding the fundamental nature of your love-life.

LeoYou will rightly feel the need to prove your openness and tolerance more extensively than usual regarding worlds that diff er from your own . Your love-life will require more attention than usual this month. You will need to slow down inwardly to preserve harmony or re-establish it in your relationship. Too many demands from the past are going to surface now and you’ll need to smooth these over in an astute manner.

LibraYou will have a tendency to push you into compulsive spending, buying things which have little to do with your real needs. Lack of aff ection is the cause of this and will need to be analysed for what it is.

Sagittarius Avoid making promises you won’t be able to keep on the family front or in your circle of friends. It will be an ideal time to go for a more light-hearted approach and revive things. A broader mental outlook and fewer emotional impulses in your dealings with each other will bring you considerable good fortune.

Aquarius It will be in your fi nances in particular that events are going to go in your favour. You would do well to make good decisions that will last and contribute to your stability.

TaurusYour emotional values could even bring you luck in the sense that they will enable you automatically to make friends, who will be destined to be extremely useful to you in the long term.

CancerYou will have free rein to demonstrate your know-how and talents! You’re going to find it easier to convince others and move forward, putting your ideas into action.

VirgoMake sure you eat a balanced diet and get enough sleep. This is more important than ever, if you are to maintain respectable energy levels. Especially as you will have a lot of work to do where those close to you are concerned. Separating your dreams from reality could use up an enormous amount of energy.

ScorpioYou have no doubts in your values or basic reasons for your actions. Your love-life will need some respite! A new start in your love-life is on the horizon if you are single at the moment.

CapricornIf you are single at the moment, your situation will seem easier to live with. You will have greater mental aptitude for appreciating others and this reinforcement of your selectivity will be underlined by greater con-fidence in yourself and your inner feelings, enabling you to evaluate situations more astutely. It will be up to you to do what you can to listen to your other half.

PiscesMake sure you don’t confuse wacky behaviour in other people with creative fantasy! You will feel the input from your partner more intuitively, or, if you are single, you will be more receptive to gestures from your admirers. New encounters this month will have a more disarming eff ect. h

How many movies have you seen in the past year? Chances are, you’ve seen a good few. Well on March 2nd the Academy Awards are being held, celebrating this past year of animated and live-action cinema.

This year, it looks like Best Picture falls between “Gravity” and “12 Years a Slave”. These movies are very diff erent. One involves two astronauts trying to survive in the midst of chaos, the other is about an African-American sold into slavery. Most of the Actors and Actresses that are nominated for awards are in these fi lms.

There’s a lot of familiar names nominated for Best Actor. Leonardo DiCaprio, a movie

veteran whose history includes movies such as Titanic and Inception, has never actually won an Academy Award. Fans everywhere are pulling for his victory this year due to

his nomination for “The Wolf of Wall Street”.

The only Best Actor Nominee to have actually won an Oscar before is Christian Bale, who won the award in 2011 for “The Fighter”. Christian Bale has been acting since he was a child, his fi rst major roll being the main character of the movie “Empire of the Rising Sun”.

The Oscars look promising this year. The movies and actors nominated are the best of the best. Hopefully the best will win!

statistics and trivia:• clint eastwood is the oldest person to be

awarded best director.• ben-hur, titanic, and lord of the rings:

return of the king are all tied for most oscars with 11 awards each.

• during world war ii oscars were made of plaster instead of metal, in order to support the war effort.

• gone with the wind was the first color movie to win an oscar.

• the first tv broadcast of the academy awards, as well as its first color broadcast was hosted by bob hope.

• the first person to win an academy award was emil jannings in 1927. he didn’t even attend the awards show!

Ellen Degeneres will be hosting this year’s Academy awards. This is her second time ever hosting.

The idea for an International Women’s Day emerged at the start of the 20th century, out of the early socialist movement. At the time, it seemed radical. Now, it is far from it. The day is recognised by governments and organisations around the world and is an offi cial holiday in dozens of countries, including Afghanistan, China, Vietnam and Zambia. Since 1975, the UN began celebrating 8 March as International Women’s Day and two years later they adopted a resolution that

all member states should observe one day each year for women’s rights.

Although the day looks at positive achievements, it also acts as a reminder of the continued gender inequality around the world.such as being payed less and not off ered the same opportunities as their male counterparts. we live in a society that claimes equality yet it is still under the thumb of men. it is on

No awareness day is complete without a charity song and International Women’s Day is no diff erent. “One

What to expect When your teacher’s expecting

diy sensory boardSensory boards are great tools for your child to play with and learn about their different senses. They introduce are made to introduce your child to different shapes, sounds, textures, and colors. Every board is different, there is no specific way to make your board because everything on it is random.

To start a sensory board you will definitely need hot glue (or nails, a staple gun, crazy glue), some type of board (MDF boards work best), and things to put on the board that would be fun for your child. Try things that can move, spin, push, or pull, and add some texture pieces.

The last step to having a sensory board is either secure it to a wall or lay it on the floor and simply have fun. Sit back and watch your child explore!

healthy eats

The Perfect Fruit Salad

1. Choose some of your favorite fruits like pineapples, banana, strawberries, kiwi fruit, oranges, etc.

2. Layer the fruit in a big large glass bowl in order.

3. Cover and refrigerate for 3-4 hours.

In the Panther family we are excited to welcome a few little cubs this year. Mrs. Bean, Mrs. Villegas, Mrs. Young, and Mrs. Mosely share a couple tips about what we should be expecting since they are expecting and all the extra emotions that go along with their pregnancy journey. Even with being on this journey and working the teachers all agree that they are very appreciative on how their Panther family responded to the news. Having a child can be a stressful, long, and tiring process, however, Panthers know how to make them fit right in. We all can’t wait to welcome the new little ones to KPARK.

Yogurt Drops

1. Choose your favor of yogurt. Scoop the flavor of yogurt into a plastic baggy. Snip a corner off the bag with scissors and pipe bite size rounds onto a sheet pan.

2. Now put them in the freezer for a couple of hours. When they’re frozen solid, pop them off the pan with a spatula

3. Enjoy!

Yummy Banana

1. Take two full bananas and gently spread peanut butter across the whole banana.

2. Choose your favorite type of nuts and spread them across a plate.

3. Take the peanut buttered banana and roll it back and fourth in the nuts until the banana is completely covered.

Global House counselor Mrs. Mosely is well on her way to motherhood. In April she will be welcoming Sean Michael Mosely II to her family and ours. “I am excited about the chal-lenges parenting brings and to finally be a mom,” Mosely said. With her pregnancy journey quickly coming to an end along with senior year, Mrs. Mosely still has plans to com-plete one final step. “...Seniors I will be there at Graduation to see [you all] walk across the stage,” Mosely said.

Tayla Bean, history teacher, is expecting not one but two babies coming this July! The only big thing we should be expecting from her is a low tolerance for crazy teenagers. “I can say I am more tired and certainly more hormonal, ie: less able to put up with crazy behavior,” Bean said. However, through the journey so far Mrs. Bean’s’ students are still just as excited as her about the new arrivals and can’t wait for her to pop. “I have enjoyed sharing the experience with my students thus far and am actually quite surprised at the level of interest and the amount of questions I get from students about my pregnancy,” Bean said.

Mrs. Villegas, English teacher, is having her second go around with the mommy experience. Baby Estelle Marie will soon be joining the Panther family and Mrs. Villegas says her students are just hoping and praying for those tiresome days to come along so that they can have a day off in class. “They were excited, and hoping I would become forgetful and tired like I did the last time, so they wouldn’t have to do quite so much work,” Villegas said. She isn’t expecting much change in her typical work day this time since she took this journey before and she’s hoping for the same business as usual. Mrs. Villegas’ only big challenge she says is staying off her feet because of all the ripping and running but she is very excited for her new arrival.

Mrs. Young, humanities house counselor, is expecting baby girl Kendall Young coming this May. Mrs. Young will be having her second child and already knows what to expect this time being pregnant and keeping up with her Panther family. “I am a little more fatigued then last time, but that will not stop me from meeting the needs and wants ofmy precious students,” Young said. She says her coworkers have been nothing but kind and caring throughout her whole journey. Mrs. Young also says she plans on making it to graduation. “I have been their [seniors] counselor since they were in 10th grade. I plan on being there cheering them on!!” Young said. Mrs. Young’s’ advice to our seniors are to take your time and explore life because it’s a lot of work.

What to Know about deaf culture

1. Deaf people do not consider themselves to be disabled, but rather a cultural group with their own unique language, customs, traditions, social beliefs, art, literature, and values.

2. Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals prefer to be called "Deaf" or "Hard of Hearing" (not hearing impaired, deaf and mute, or deaf and dumb, etc.).

3. There are approximately 364 million Deaf people worldwide, 22 million Deaf people in the United States with more than 120 different sign languages around the world.

4. Behind English and Spanish, American Sign Language is the 3rd most widely used language in the United States.

5. Eighty-seven percent of Deaf Children are born to Hearing families with only 13% of deafness being genetic. More than 70% of families with children who use sign language as their primary language do not/cannot communicate with their children.

6. Despite popular beliefs, it is physically impossible for a Deaf person to read lips as only 30% of all spoken sounds are visible on the lips.

7. Deaf people are able to do anything hearing people can like vote, drive cars, hold jobs, etc. Deaf people hold positions as lawyers, artists, dentists, doctors, clergy, professional athletes, actors, chemists, inventors, and writers.

8. Deaf culture tends to be much more direct and blunt than most hearing cultures and, as a result, can sometimes seem rude in communications; however, this is just a cultural difference.

9. Some common behavioral norms of the Deaf culture include: certain rules of etiquette for communication, keeping each other informed of what's going on in one's environment, seeking common relationships when introduced to one another for the first time, and viewing time differently, such as showing up late for appointments. These behaviors can sometimes be misinterpreted as disrespectful, rather than being viewed as different

go graphic

This spring is all about geometric patterns and digital prints. Eliciting sharpness and

chic, going “graphic” allows for colorful and imaginative clothing. Utilize white bottoms and skirts to contrast with your colorfi lled

saint patricks day

Patrick was born around 385 AD in a Roman province of Britain. When

he was 16 years old, he was carried off to be sold as a slave in Ireland.

Six years working as a herdsman in Ireland and during this time of

solitude and slavery that he surrendered his life to God. But f irst he

had to prepare for this work so he made his way to the monastery

of Saint Martin of Tours in France where he studied under the

tutelage of Saint Germanus (of Germain), the bishop of Auxerre.

According to Saint Patrick ’s Day lore, Patrick used

the three leaves of a shamrock to represent the

holy trinity: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Until the

1970’s, Saint Patrick ’s Day in Ireland was a minor religious

holiday. a priest would acknowledge the feast day, and

families would celebrate with big meal, but that was about it.

Eighteenth-Century Irish soldiers f ighting with the British in the

U.S Revolutionary war held the f irst Saint Patrick ’s Day

parades. Some soldiers for example, marched through

New York City in 1762 to reconnect with their Irish roots.

he did not in fact rid ireland of snakes because there

Ingredients4 quarts popped corn1 1/2 Cups sugar1/2 Cup light corn syrup2 Tablespoons butter1/2 teaspoon salt1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar (optional, does make mixture slightly more creamy)1/4 teaspoon vanilla1 teaspoon baking sodagreen food coloring (I used about 1/8 teaspoon Wilton paste color in Kelly Green) DirectionsIn heavy saucepan on medium heat melt butter then add sugar, corn syrup, cream of tartar and salt. Increase temper-ature to medium high and bring mixture to a boil, stirring constantly to dissolve sugar. Once mixture boils, add in food coloring and stop stirring. Boil for 5 minutes (Do not stir). Mixture should be about 250-260 degrees. Remove from heat and carefully stir in vanilla and baking soda. Working quickly and while mixture is foamy, pour mixture over popped corn and gently stir to coat popcorn. Place popcorn into a large roaster or rimmed baking sheet (lined with parchment paper or sprayed with cooking spray) and bake at 200° F for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
