CTR is a nationally recognized, highly selective teacher training program that provides a pathway for aspiring teachers to develop into outstanding educators who are prepared to serve in high-need schools in Washington, D.C. Participants make a commitment to teach for a minimum of three years in Washington, D.C. and spend the first year of this commitment—their residency year—training in a classroom with a highly effective mentor teacher. During their residency year, CTRs receive ongoing coaching, support, and professional development and have the opportunity to obtain their certification and train in early childhood, elementary, Special Education, and secondary math, science, or English language arts classrooms. On June 19th, KIPP DC participated in DoMore24, a 24-hour campaign focused on fundraising for local nonprofit organizations. Through the amazing support of our donors, KIPP DC achieved the highest amount raised in the education category - totaling more than $20,000 - therefore receiving an additional $2,500 award from United Way! These donations will allow us to fund book scholarships and supplies for our 157 KIPP DC alumni who are starting college this fall.

On May 28th, KIPP DC hosted its first annual TechFest, a celebration of the innovative ways that teachers are using instructional technology to drive student performance across ourschools.

The event highlighted the blended learning, STEM initiatives, and teacher tools that are currently being utilized by KIPP DC. Twelve teachers who participated in an instructional technology Action Learning Project (ALP) throughout the school year were able to showcase their findings from either piloting a new product or perfecting the usage of a product. Members of the ALP community shared their findings not only with their individual schools and administrators, but also with the larger KIPP DC community to ensure that best practices will enhance student achievement and investment across our grade levels and schools. Kudos to Adam Roberts, Director of Innovation and Instructional Technology, and Hillary Harper, Instructional Technology Coach, for hosting a great evening.

KIPP DC's annual March Madness fundraiser raised $220,885 to support our athletic facilities and fields. Thanks to all of our sponsors!

Five KIPP DC students were selected for the A Better Chance program and will attend private high schools across the country this fall.

Students from KIPP DC KEY Academy were selected to compete against master chess players in the Chess Challenge in DC!
