PASTOR’S LETTER FOR JULY 2016

There were four people - Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody.

There was an important job to be done and Everybody was asked to do it.

Everybody was sure Somebody would do it.

Anybody could have done it but Nobody did.

Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody’s job.

Everybody thought Anybody could do it but

Nobody realized that Everybody would not do it.

It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when actually Nobody asked Anybody.

We need more people to volunteer to serve on our congregational committees. We need a chair for our Property Committee. We need people to serve on all our committees. Our council and I are asking each of you to prayerfully consider serving. Look over the kinds of committees we need. Prayerfully consider in which area you would like to serve. Your response will be a response to God’s calling you to serve.

Please speak to me, Mark Hoover or a member of church council. It is an important for the life and mission of St. James Lutheran Church that we get to more participation in our committees in time of the fall startup of our ministries.

Have a great summer. See you in church, Pastor Jim

Sunday, July 24, 2016 We honor St. James, Apostle

(his saint day is July 25) James, son of Zebedee was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus, and traditionally considered the first apostle to be martyred. He was a son of Zebedee and Salome, and brother of John the Apostle. He is also called James the Greater or James the Great to distinguish him from James, son of Alphaeus and James the Just. James the Greater is the patron saint of Spain, and as such is often identified as Santiago.

Join us on Sunday, July 24 for Holy Communion and

Pizza Lunch (provided)

We meet for worship in social hall followed by lunch.
