Healing an Orphan Heart

The Omaha-based organizationChild Caring Institute House ofPrayer Philippines (CCIHOPP)outlines how their ministry andsponsorship is transforming the lifeof a young Filipino orphan, KirvySanchez.Hello, reading audience. It is our pleasure tointroduce you to Kirvy Sanchez!

This young man has experienced the heart of JesusChrist through the ministry Child Caring InstituteHouse of Prayer Philippines (CCIHOPP).

CCIHOPP is focused on teaching how to live adynamic, constant lifestyle of prayer and on healingthe hearts of orphans in the Philippines.

Who is Kirvy?Kirvy (pronounced like "Kirby") is 12yearsoldand livesin the town of Dau. His mother died in a car accident, and his father was never in the picture.

Kirvy lives with an aunt; however, his aunt has sixchildren of her own to care for, and the family is verypoor, so it is difficult for her to provide all that thisprecious boy needs.

Through the amazing love of a local church thatpartners with CCIHOPP, The First Baptist Church ofDau, Kirvy does NOT live like an orphan anymore!

FirstBaptistprovidesameal forKirvyeveryday, thanksto CCIHOPP's sponsorship. Church leader RobertTiglao and his family reach out to Kirvy on a regularbasis, actingas thehandsandfeetof Jesus.Theyrecentlytook him to buy new sandals, a small thing many of usinAmericawould take for granted. They also do thingslike take him out to get a snack. Even the Senior Pastorof the church, Jimmy Fundar, reaches out to Kirvy.

Renewal

Pastor Jimmy says, “At first, when CCIHOPP began tohelp Kirvy, he was very shy. He didn’t know who washelpinghim; he only knewhe couldgo to school and eatevery day now. We had to pick him up for church, andhe would not talk to anyone at all. Now, he comes tochurch on his own, and he is bringing his cousins, hisneighbors, and anyone he meets on the way to church!

"He also stays after the service and helps to clean thepews and different areas of the building. It is such ablessing to watch the Lord work though CCIHOPP.”

What’s Next for Kirvy?

CCIHOPP has successfully funded two years of"Complete Sponsorship" for Kirvy. He just entered into2nd grade (he is 12, so he is behind overall scholastically, but catching up quickly). CCIHOPP is continuing itseffort to finish fundraising for three more years. Thisshould allow Kirvy to finish a major educational step--graduating from primary school. After Kirvy graduates from primary school, CCIHOPPwill likely assist him to transition into the workforce orprovide seed money for a business that utilizes hisstrengths. Another option may be for Kirvy to beginsecondary school or even college to study for a specificprofessional career.CCIHOPPhopes to invest spiritually inKirvy’s life overthe next fewyears to find outwhereGod is leadinghim, andwhat God’s life purpose and assignment is for him.In addition to the love he receives at his new homechurch, First Baptist, Kirvy will eventually beintroduced to key evangelistic programs of CCIHOPP.Fresh Start (see cover story on page 20), the CliftonStrength Finders, several life-purpose exercises, andpersonal one-on-one mentoring are some of the maintools and ministries he will experience. All of theseheart-healing ministry tools, and especially theintroduction to a lifestyle of prayer, are all on the nearhorizon forKirvy in theLord’s timing, whenhe is readyto receive more.

After Kirvy?

CCIHOPP is on fire to provide sponsorship for moreorphans than just Kirvy. They have a vision to reach

a whole generation of orphans, one soul at a time. The immediate goal is to raise money in advancefor three more years ofsponsorship. Once fundsare in place to providefor Kirvy, funds will beraised to sponsor otherorphans as well.

Allan Pettitbelieves that inthe Lord’stiming,CCIHOPP willplant orphanages(referred to as"child caringinstitutes" inthe Philippines) inseveral key areas ofthe country whereorphanism is prominent(See page 41 for moredetails on the orphanepidemic in thePhilippines). He also believes thatsomeday, God will even useCCIHOPP to help brokeradoptions for American couples in America, andpossibly other countries.

Now What? The small staff of CCIHOPP does their best to hearthe heart of God and respond. Kirvy Sanchez is thisfaith in action. CCIHOPP currently raises just $770per year to provide what they call "CompleteSponsorship" for Kirvy.

Complete sponsorship includes:

$50 - Annual school tuition and books, plus oneuniform

$720 –Adailymeal for 365 days a year (about $2 perday).

The truth is, however, many of us here inAmerica (or anywhere inthe world) have orphanhearts aswell, even thoughwehave living parents.

“Our life purpose, as I see it, is to loveFather God, live with Jesus, and watchHim work the Holy Spirit,” saysCCIHOPP founder, Allan Pettit. “Godcreated us to enter into relationship with Him.If we live our own lives, we forfeit that purposeand wonder why we are left feeling empty. After I finally implemented and maintained areal lifestyle of simply talking to God withoutstopping, my life has never been the same."

This is a taste of what Jesus said:

"The thief comes only in order to steal and killand destroy. I came that they may have andenjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows)."

- John 10:10 (Amplified Bible)

What is the Value of yourMoney?

What do you spend $50on? A tank of gas? A newoutfit? For the price oflittle more than goingout to eat at a steakhouse, a completeyear of schooling isprovided, aninvestment withlasting impact inthe life of anorphan like Kirvy.

That is aninvestment that willlast for eternity whereno rust can destroy ormoth can eat! (SeeMatthew 6:19-21.)

Why $2/Day?The Philippines is a ThirdWorld nation, so theAmerican dollar goes five

times* farther than in the United States. In thetown of Dau, where Kirvy lives, $2 can purchase afull meal that includes a plate of rice, deliciousmeat, a side, and even a drink.

CCIHOPP provides only one meal daily becauseKirvy lives with family that takes care of his otherneeds. As Kirvy grows older, he will be encouragedto work to provide for his other daily meals andtransition into self-sufficiency.

If orphans are sponsored in the future with adifferent living situation, then they may receive adifferent number of meals.
