1 INTRODUCTION
This KISTERS License Manager based on X-Formation LM-X technology is used for floating license
of various KISTERS products like 3DViewStation and its integration components.This documentation is for administrators who have to install or maintain the KISTERS LicenseManager and corresponding client license files.
2 INSTALLATION
The KISTERS License Manager is delivered as a ZIP file containing setup, documentation and othercomponents.
This ZIP contains the following files:
- the MSI for installing the LM-X License Manager and/or the End User Tools
lmx-enduser-tools_v4.4.9_win32_x86.msi
- needed during setup
liblmxvendor.dll
Send by mail:
network.lic
The network license file created by KISTERS which is typically delivered within a separate mail fromKisters. This network.lic file must be stored within the same directory where your LicenseManager is installed.

2.2 LM-X License Manager and End-user Tools setup
Extract the ZIP locally to a path like c:\tmp\LM-X License Server 4.4.9 Setup.
Start lmx-enduser-tools_v4.4.9_win32_x86.msi and follow these steps to setup up the server:
Brows for the liblmxvendor.dll in the path you did extract the ZIP.

Before you click Finish copy the network.lic received by mail to the installation path you did choosefor the setup. Check Start LM-X license server to start the corresponding service on setup exit. Thissetup has installed a new service for the Kisters License Manager with automatic start option.

You can open lmx-serv.cfg in your favourite text editor, such as Notepad, and edit entries likeREMOTE_ACCESS_PASSWORD or TCP_LISTEN_PORT

Open the log file to verify the license server is started and working normally, indicated by the lineReady to serve as shown in the following example:

If there are any problems running the license server, the log file will indicate the cause of theproblem. If you cannot find a log file, check the configuration files LOG_FILE parameter.
By using the Windows Service Manager you can restart the service or change additional settingslike running the license server by a different users account.
2.3 Firewall settings on the license serverEnable the program lmx-serv.exe to process incoming and outgoing communications via TCP undUDP by adding corresponding rules to e.g. the Windows firewall:

2.4 Client license fil e
In addition to the network.lic license file for the license server Kisters typically delivers a secondlicence file for the client applications. Those client license files are typically named like 3DVS.lic or
3DVSAX.lic . You have to place them in the client installation directory.
To check if such a client license file is intended to be used with a license server the parameterFloating must be set to 1 .
By default the client starts a broadcast within the network via UDP port 6200 to find its license server.This could take some extra time during the start and also can be blocked by firewalls.
Therefore KISTERS recommends adding this parameters to the client license file pointing to yourlicense server:
~LicenseServerAddress=Port@[Servername |Server IP]
Examples:
~LicenseServerAddress=6200@[email protected]

This additional entry to the client license file will not affect the license signature.

3 LICENSE MANAGER WEB APPLICATION
You can open the Web Application of your license server in your browser by entering this URL:
: e.g. licsrv:6200
The Web Application shows a dash board, license usage, log file and more. With a password loginyou can also change configuration settings or restart the server.
