1. Preparing Vehicle

a) Make sure vehicle is parked on a level surface. b) Set parking brake. c) If engine has run in the past two hours let it cool down

2. Removal of Stock System

a) This is the stock intake of the Jeep Wrangler.

b) Loosen the hose clamp located at the throttle body.

c) For the 2005-2006 model year Jeep Wranglers push in and twist the Inlet Air Temperature sensor out of the intake tube. For 1997-2004 Jeep Wranglers proceed to the next step and disregard this step.

d) Loosen the hose clamp connecting the intake tube to the air filter lid.

e) Remove the air filter lid from the air filter housing. Unclasp the four retaining clasps. Also, be sure to disconnect the crankcase breather hose from the lid.

f) This is the intake tube and air filter lid after removal from vehicle.

g) Remove the three bolts holding the bottom of the air filter housing in the vehicle.

h) The stock air filter housing removed.

i) Remove the four bolts holding down the throttle body to the intake manifold. After removal of the four bolts place the throttle body spacer between the throttle body and the intake manifold, also use supplied gaskets and bolts. Refer to the diagram on page 2 for the gasket placement.

j) After installation of the throttle body spacer. For the 2000-2006 Jeeps, remove the 2 bolts on the throttle body linkage, then replace this with the supplied bolts and spacers. For 97-99 Jeeps there are 3 bolts attaching the throttle body linkage, for these Jeeps use the 3 supplied bolts and spacers.

3. Installation of Brute Force Intake a) When installing the intake system, DO NOT completely tighten the hose clamps or mounting tab hardware until instructed to do so.

b) Secure the reducing coupler to the throttle body using the supplied #44 and #48 hose clamps.

d) Remove the bolt that is securing the radiator to the Jeep. Slide the heat shield into position and re-insert the stock bolt through the heat shield hole and secure the radiator once more.

c) Install supplied 6mm rubber mount. Use the supplied 6mm nut and 6mm washer. Screw in and attach the bolt from underneath through the fender well.

e) Install rubber grommet in pipe for 2005-2006 Jeep Wranglers. For 1997-2004 Jeep Wranglers install the plug in place of the grommet.

f) Insert Intake pipe into the rubber coupler at the throttle body.

g) Align the pipe with the heat shield and rubber mount. After alignment secure the heat shield with the supplied M8 bolt, washers and nut to the fender well of the Jeep.

h) Secure the pipe to the rubber mount by using the supplied 6mm nut and washer.

i) For the 2005-2006 Jeep Wranglers gently install the IAT sensor into the intake pipe. 1997-2004 Jeep Wranglers owners may skip this step.

j) Twist the stock nipple carefully until is facing towards the driver side of the jeep.

k) Attach the supplied breather hose to the intake pipe and the crankcase ventilation nipple. Use supplied 1” hose clamps.

l) Finally, attach your Dryflow filter to the end of your intake pipe using supplied #52 hose clamp, and use the supplied zip tie to secure the heat shield to the support bar.

4. Re-assemble Vehicle a) Position the inlet pipes for best fitment. Be sure that the pipes or any other components do not contact any part of the

vehicle. Tighten the rubber mount, all bolts and hose clamps. b) Check for proper hood clearance. Re-adjust pipes if necessary and retighten them. Tighten radiator cap. c) Inspect the engine bay for any loose tools and check that all fasteners that were moved or removed are properly tight. d) Start engine. Let car idle for 3 minutes. Perform a final inspection before driving the vehicle.

c) Use window cleaner to clean your powder coated AEM Brute Force intake pipe. (NOTE: DO NOT USE Aluminum polish on a powder coated AEM BRUTE FORCE intake pipe)

12 MONTH LIMITED WARRANTY

AEM warrants that its intake systems will last for the life of your vehicle. AEM will not honor this warranty due to mechanical damage (i.e. improper installation or fitment), damage from misuse, accidents or flying debris. AEM will not warrant its powder coating if the finish has been cleaned with a hydrocarbon-based solvent. The powder coating should only be cleaned with a mild soap and water solution. Proof of purchase of both the vehicle and AEM intake system is required for redemption of a warranty claim.

AEM’S DYNAMOMETER TESTING PROCEDURE

AEM performs dynamometer testing on a Mustang Dyno, model MDSP 7000. Three power pulls are performed on our dynamometer; horsepower and torque are recorded each time. The raw data of the three pulls is then corrected to the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) standard correction factor. The corrected values are averaged and graphed to rpm.

The SAE standard (SAE J1349 Reaffirmed June 1995) for an internal combustion engine atmospheric correction factor is used to create standard power output numbers at any altitude, ambient air temperature and humidity. As with any test there are many variables in the testing of the power outputs, so your test results may not match those of AEM.
