Mwingi is well positioned todevelop into an industrial hubgiven its location near theLAPSSET corridor as well as itsposition along the Garissa –Mwingi – Thika highway.

The strategic location will allowCompanies to export producethrough LAPSSET corridor and theLamu Port, or to key marketsthrough the Garissa – Mwingi –Thika highway.

The County is well positioned giventhat it has iron ore reserves inIkutha, which would provide asource of raw materials for aprocessing plant in the MwingiIndustrial Hub.

The second main ingredient in ironand steel production is coal which isplentiful in the Mui Basin

Agricultural products that couldbe processed include LeatherTanneries, Cotton / textileprocessing, Fruit Processing (ie,mango pulp production), Honeyrefining amongst others.
