Kiwanis Honors Cloverly Elementary School Students Bailey Yu and Wendy Wu February 2, 2010 Kiwanis Club of Temple City was pleased to have honored two outstanding students from Cloverly Elementary School. Pictured with the proud students is Cloverly teacher, Mrs. Patricia Wenzel. Mrs. Wenzel also has the distinct honor of being recognized as Temple City Unified School District’s “Teacher of the Year.” She, along with other teachers in the District, will be participating in the Camellia Festival Parade on Saturday, February 27. Bailey is 11 years old and is in Ms. Tenney’s class. He enjoys computer games and sleeping. Bailey said, “The best things about Cloverly are the nice teachers, good lunches, and clean classrooms.” The best thing that ever happened was being chosen as Student of the Month unexpectedly. Personal goals are to have longer recesses, build a free money dispenser, get good grades, have no missing homework, and enter Oak Avenue Intermediate School. Wendy is 11 years old and is in Mrs. Wenzel’s class. She has two older sisters and enjoys drawing, reading, and swimming. Wendy said, “The best things about Cloverly are my friends, the teachers, and the big grass field.” The best thing that ever happened was being chosen Student of the Month. Personal goals are to have the economy stronger, build a big house to help the poor and people of Haiti, pass Pre-Algebra this year, to grow taller, and get straight A’s. Each week the Temple City Kiwanis Club is pleased to recognize outstanding students and their teachers from Cloverly, Emperor, Longden, Oak Avenue, and the Dr. Doug Sears Learning Center. Kiwanis treats students and their teacher to lunch. Students receive a certificate, a letter for their parents, a bumper sticker, a gift certificate from The Hat Restaurant, and a photograph of them receiving their award. Their photo will also be published in Temple City Life, Mid Valley News, Temple City Tribune, and displayed in the Temple City Unified School District lobby. Temple City Kiwanis has been serving our community since 1939. Members are dedicated men and women who desire to make a difference in the quality of life for the youth of Temple City. Kiwanis meets at 12:00 noon each Tuesday at The Bahooka Family Restaurant. To find out more about Kiwanis, please call Jerry Jambazian at (626) 286-2444.
