Delta Alpha Re-Chartering

We, the Delta Alpha Chapter of East Carolina University, received our charter at our installation ceremony which was held at the Greenville Country Club. Over 80 people came out to support our re-chartering. Those in attendance included parents, university officials, significant others and alumni. Notable alumni in attendance included: Director Greg Rumpf, Past National President Ron Erickson, past Director Mike Matznick, Atlantic Coast Regional Vice President Ken Vaughn, Mid-Atlantic District Director Dan Morgan, and Director of Expansion Michael Smoll. Several members of the former Delta Alpha Chapter and area alumni also attended the installation ceremony to support our new chapter. Brothers Alex Williams and Patrick Darrow are both legacies, and their fathers, Allen Williams and Michael Darrow attended.Academic Excellence Brothers with a 4.0 GPAZach BlankMitch BlankenshipSean GranthamJason Harris

Increase in Spring Dues

Fraternity dues this spring have been increased to $300. This increase will help to prevent or even limit out of pocket spending for programs throughout the semester, which is already loaded with some great events.

Academic Success

Since returning to campus, our chapter has consistently been among the top five fraternities in terms of average GPA. This past fall semester we had four brothers finish with a 4.0, and a total of 17 brothers with over a 3.0. To continue this success and hopefully improve even more this spring semester, we have made changes to our required library hours. In the past every active brother has been required to log at least two hours in the library every week. Now anybody lower than the required 2.3 GPA must log at least five hours in the library each week. Those with a 2.4-3.4, will be required two hours each week and those over a 3.5 are not required to log any library hours. In the case that a brother does not reach their required library hours he will be fined.

N.C. Special Olympics FundraiserUntil February 25th we will be raising money through online donations for the N.C. Special Olympics. After the first five days we had raised over $500 more than any other fraternity at ECU, our goal is $2,500. You can join the cause and donate here: NC Special Olympics

Homecoming 2011 AwardsPaired with AO, we placed 1st in the Greek Life skit competition, marking the first time in several years that the ECU Ambassadors did not place 1st in a Homecoming Event.NC Special OlympicsWhite Rose Formal

Brothers, we invite all alumni to join us as we hold our 2012 White Rose Formal in Myrtle Beach, SC on March 23rd-25th. Saturday night, the 24th will be our dinner banquet, awards will be given, and our 2012 White Rose will be named. The dinner will be held at 2nd Avenue Pier Open Air Bar located at 110 North Ocean Boulevard. We encourage alumni and their wives or girlfriends to attend. 2011s formal was a huge success, and this years looks to be even better. Again if you have any questions, or would like further details, please contact the Alumni Relations Chairmen.

Meet the Delta ClassDavid BlanchardAcademic Excellence From last semesters grades, our chapter held the 4th highest GPA out of the 16 IFC fraternities. On top of that, our new members had the 2nd highest semester, and the highest overall GPA compared to all other fraternitys new members.Semi-FormalDecember 6th we held our first Semi-Formal at the City Hotel and Bistro in Greenville. Each brother brought a date for a night of dinner and dancing. Alumni Erick Henley made an appearance as well.

I'm involved with the MIS club on campus and help withPhilanthropy relations, as the Philanthropy chairman, throughout the fraternity. For the most part I try to give as much time asneeded to help the fraternity whatever the case may be and reap from the benefits of a closerelationship with each brother.Riley Horne

I am the chapters athletic director for the spring semester and work at Amos Mosquito's in Atlantic Beach, NC. Im involved in intramural sports, playing soccer and football. Without Sig Tau I would not have the same college experience that I am receiving even though I am only a freshman. Already, Im taking on responsibilities that Ill carry on through my life because of Sig Tau. I strive to be the best that I can at everything and put the same amount of energy and effort into our fraternity. Andrew TheadoMy name is Andrew Theado; I am a Junior Psychology major at ECU. I'm from Richmond, Virginia but have made Greenville my home. At ECU I have maintained a 3.6 GPA, been named an Assistant Captain for the Club Inline Hockey team, and work as a Field Training Officer for the ECU Police Department Student Patrol. In Sigma Tau Gamma I serve as the Chapter Librarian and Historian. I enriched my commitment to the fraternity by running for and being elected as Delta pledge Class President with the goal of supporting my pledge brothers and making sure everyone was informed with our fraternal events. I have had nothing but a positive experience with Sig Tau, gaining a brotherhood and network of support for the rest of my life.Ira Rushing I'm a 25 year old junior accounting major from Jackson Mississippi. I got stationed here in NC by the Marine Corps which I joined after graduating high school in 2004. I got married to my wife, Madison, also from Mississippi, in May 2009 and she moved to Greenville to attend ECU. That was the biggest factor in my decision to go here when I got out of the Marines. Once I started school, I wanted to become more involved and Sig Tau provided the gateway to do so while also introducing me to a great group of guys to call brothers. I am currently co-chairman of the new member education program, IFC treasurer, member of various honor and professional organizations, and plan to run for a position in the Student Government Association in the coming months and staying ever-vigilant in establishing Sig Tau as a premier foundation for success not only on campus but in my own life.Lost Brothers

3rd Annual Alumni Purple Gold Spring Game Tailgate

East Carolina has announced the annual spring football scrimmage will be held Saturday, April 14th. This will be the 29th year that ECU has held this event, and the third year Sig Tau has held our Alumni tailgate around it. Last years event featured East Carolina's spring football game, baseball, barbecue, live music, entertainment, kids' games and its famous Pig Cookin' Contest. If you missed out on our alumni tailgate on homecoming weekend you will not want to miss this one. Tickets for the scrimmage are purchased online but are not yet available. Stay posted for further updates about this event.

New Executive Board

On November 13th the chapter elected our new Executive board. Elected members consist of junior Erik Wentzky (from our Beta Pledge class of Spring 2011) as President, sophomore Patrick Darrow (also from our Beta Pledge class) as Executive Vice President, junior Matt Bell (from our Gamma Pledge) class as Vice President of Membership, junior Kyle Farrell (one of our re-Founding Fathers) as Vice President of Finance, and junior Phil Sgro (also of our Gamma Pledge class) as Vice President of Programs.Alumni Scholarship Donations

The money donated will go towards an alumni funded scholarship. The scholarship will pay for one brothers dues. The chapter will vote on the most deserving brother to receive this scholarship. Our goal now, is $500, which would cover one brothers dues over one academic semester. If we receive over that amount it will roll over to the next years scholarship. This will become an annual scholarship, with the brother awarded the scholarship announced at Formal, as well as how much money was donated. Were also taking donations to put towards the cost of our new ritual equipment, given by nationals. To make a donation you can do it through PAYPAL to our account by following this link: Chapter PAYPAL Or if you would prefer you can mail a check as well, to 113 North Jarvis Street, Greenville, NC 27858.

Reconnecting with Alumni

This semester we have implemented the Historian position, held by Andrew Theado. Brother Theado will be responsible for documenting, filing, and digitizing fraternity memorabilia and information. This means gathering everything he can from the past Sig Tau years. Items like old pictures, composites, awards, and ritual equipment. Hell also be documenting all current fraternity events. With a historian in place, were hoping to reconnect and build on relationships with Alumni, but also to keep track of all fraternity history. To do so we will need help from all Alumni. If you have anything at all that you would be willing to donate, please do. Before being displayed all items obtained, will first be scanned to a computer, saved, and published on our new website. This way there will always be a copy. We would like to thank several alumni; Mark Klumpp, Andy Polinksi, Mark ORavitz, Chuck Kesler, Michael Darrow, Erick Henley, and Chad Bornstein, who have already made large contributions with past ritual equipment, composites, photo albums, old rush fraternity shirts, awards, and even the original Charter from 1978. If you too would like to donate something, or would just like to get together with the brothers, while in town, please contact either of our Alumni Relations Chairmen. Every Wednesday night at seven we go out to eat for our brotherhood dinner; all alumni are welcome, and encouraged to join us. Patrick Darrow-Cell (919)-862-3994.
