QUALITY ASSURANCE – MALAYSIA QUALIFICATION AGENCY (MQA)

• Provisional Accreditationis an exercise to determined a programme has met the minimum quality requirement preliminary to Full Accreditation

• Full Accreditationis an assessment exercise to ascertain that the teaching, learning and all other related activities of a programme provided by a higher education provided has met the quality standard and in compliance with the MQA

Institutional AuditMaintenance of Programme Accreditation can be determined via Institutional Audit

WHAT IS THE MQF?

MQFMQF** Para 1 Para 1

MQF is an instrument that develops and classifies qualifications based on a set of criteria that is approved nationally and at par with international practices, and which clarifies the earned academic levels, learning outcomes of study areas and credit system based on student academic load.

* The Malaysian Qualifications Agency (2007), The Malaysian Qualifications Framework, Kuala Lumpur.

• MQF– statement on what students should

know, understand and can do upon completion of a period of study.

• In simple terms….– Specific, understandable, measurable,

assessable and student-centered statements as to what a student will be able to do at the end of a period of study.

EXAMPLES OF DIFFERENCE IN LEVEL OF LO

Varying competencies: the higher the level, the higher the competencies. e.g Knowledge in Business Administration Course at different levels.

Diploma: apply basic accounting principles governing the recording and preparation of accounting information;Bachelors: compare the financing aspects of decisions and apply them in practice;Masters: integrate knowledge and manage complex matters
