1 Press Release Konica Minolta awarded first place for environmental activities in Japanese Nikkei Environmental Management Survey Langenhagen/Germany, 6 th February 2015 Konica Minolta, Inc. (Konica Minolta) is pleased to announce that it was ranked first place in the overall manufacturing sector in the 18th Environmental Management Survey conducted by Nikkei Inc. for its strategic environmental commitment. The renowned annual survey assesses environmental management of Japanese companies and recognizes initiatives toward sustainability in terms of both environment and business management. In the 18th Nikkei Environmental Management Survey for companies, which is conducted annually by Nikkei Inc., Konica Minolta was ranked No. 1 in the overall manufacturing sector. The ranking recognizes Konica Minolta’s guiding principle to create new values and innovations vital to society. The survey, which consists of 200 detailed questions, involved 419 companies to evaluate the balance between environmental management and corporate strategy in the areas Environmental Management System and Organisation, Pollution Abatement & Biodiversity Measures, Resource Circulation, Product Ecology and Global Warming Reduction. “The Nikkei ranking result recognizes the strong environmental commitments Konica Minolta has made under the “Eco Vision 2050” and beyond, which we have been working on for the past few years. We will maintain our efforts in all the countries where we operate, and continue to aim for the realization of sustainable technology and services”, says Olaf Lorenz, General Manager for the International Marketing Division of Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe. Konica Minolta has been developing comprehensive environmental initiatives, including environmental management policies that combine reduction of environmental impact and growth in corporate value, as well as plans to increase the annual sales ratio of environmentally friendly products (Green Products). That is why it launched a new medium-term Environmental Plan for 2016 last year, which is included in the Eco Vision 2050, a set of long-term aims that include preventing global warming, promoting the recycling of resources and preserving biodiversity.
