Brothers,

First I want to recognize all of the hard working

brothers who organize and help with the fish fry

and volunteered with the Mardi Gras. These food

events bring people together. The article “Full

Stomachs, Full Hearts” in the March issue of the

Columbia magazine describes how food is an es-

sential part of life and integral to the Christian

faith. The article describes how food is a

very visible part of our Order’s presence in

communities around the world. Every time you volunteer your time for

these events, remember you are helping bring to the parishioners’ hearts

the sense of togetherness.

Vivat Jesus,

Jorge Gonzalez

“On Eagles Wings!”

In appreciation for the support of council 12300, Chief Squire Sean Fletcher and Squires from Circle 5279 presented an Eagle to adorn the top of the flag pole in Father Pondant Hall to Grand Knight Jorge Gonza-les and the Brothers of Council 12300.

Deacon Pete Martinez Circle 5279, with the guidance and direction of Counselors Pat Fletcher, Mike Shuster, David Savage, Bryan Finley, and Fr. Andrew, has grown to become an active spiritual and inspirational or-ganization for our young Catholic gentlemen, ages 6-18. Thanks, Squires!

Kruse Family Recognized as

“Family of the Month”

And a family contribution it indeed is, as the Doris and Gary Kruse

sons—Matt; Timothy, and Andrew join Council Lecturer Dad as they ac-

cept the January “Family of the Month” Award from Grand Knight Jorge

Gonzales. Mom Doris and daughters Miriam, Laura, and Theresa also

contribute as they participate in parish and council activities. Congratula-

tions and Thanks to the Kruse Family!

Mardi Gras & Mortgage-Burning

Congratulations, St. Anthony Parish, as the mortgage is burned under the

watchful eyes of our Pastor, Fr. Andrew Semler, and FS Richard Ramirez.

Preparation of Gumbo and hall decoration go on,

before the parish gathers to celebrate the paying off

the Church mortgage.

An estimated 550 parishioners came thru Fr. Pondant Hall in order to celebrate Mardi

Gras festivities and enjoy gumbo, hot dogs, and mac ‘n cheese!

The young crowed had fun competing for the nomination of King, Queen, Prince and

Princess.

safe environment cleared.

Valentine’s Day, Again, Revisited

Last year I spoke about the relationship reduction be-

tween Saint Valentine and the Church calen-

dar ...correlating it to the loss of resolve in keeping a hap-

py marriage. Each time the Church limited its connection

to Saint Valentine, the more dire the situation against

marriage has become. As speculative that it may have

sounded, the news of the day has proven that Matrimony is now under an even in-

creasing attack. (And) as the pope, and Cardinal Burke have addressed the issue

of Christian persecution; we are not far from “its” escalation either. However,

what you are seeing is not mere happenstance, but part of a nature of degenera-

tion ...of what fulfills the sacrament of marriage: children.

Basically, one can to understand the culprits attacking marriage, as inter - con-

nected in an “unholy trinity”, perpetrating an agenda that effects marriage at all

turns. If you look at the trinitarian image of God, you will see the Father and the

Son with the Holy spirit emanating from the two. Similarly, the Family has a simi-

lar “image and likeness” ...with the father, the mother... and the child emanating

from the two. In the case of the culture of death surrounding abortion; you have

the introduction of Birth Control, the legalization of Abortion, and the prolifera-

tion of Sterilization (along with a host of other demonic children) emanating from

the first two. The sad part is, this “trinity” is something you can find in recorded

history that makes it all predictable. As I had mentioned a year before:

“The feast day of St. Valentine was a “Simple feast day” until 1955, when it

was reduced to a “commemoration”. (And) In 1969, the commemoration was

eliminated from the General Calendar for universal liturgical veneration. “

“Historically, what connected in 1960(?) ...about four or five years after

the removal of the “feast day” in 1955? Birth control was legalized in our

country. Then what connected in 1973(?) ...about four or five years after

the removal of the “commemoration” in 1969? Abortion was legalized.

That would seem to be a little more than coincidental.” (Continued on page 10)

Page 10: Knight Writer

Page 10 St. Anthony’s Council 12300 Knight Writer

From Our Lecturer

Now, why “Sterilization” is the third part of this unholy trinity, is that it derives from

the frustration of the failure of the first two. Today's same gender relation-

ships are an extended form of the sterilization process. Can you get this third

aspect without the first two. Can you get to Charity without first having Faith

and then Hope. The entire issue is embedded in selfishness, need I say more?

Now, you ask, why do I drag this back to Valentines Day? You walk into the store,

and what do you see? May I revert back again to last year...

“So why isn’t the secular world trying to get rid of “Valentines Day” despite

its heavy Catholic connection; and the swift repulsion of anything “Church”

by the culture of death? Perhaps, it’s an intervention ...through the inten-

tions of a “Saint” ...saying wait a minute; you have disregarded something

really important! And, here is a tangible sign, even with my signature on it!”

But then, I went on speculating:

“It’s like the enemies of the Church; building an idol over a Holy Land site,

just to hide it. After while, someone will recognize that our enemies have

marked the spots for a return. And it is sure looking like we need a

“return” of the extra graces that a Saint Valentine’s feast day could sup-

plement for “Happy Marriages”; especially for our families’ sake.”

Given the danger family values are in today, perhaps, I was selling the idea short;

and should ask for a new “holy day of obligation” instead.
