Brothers,
This month is another busy month for our
council and personal life. May is the unofficial start
of summer and hopefully some warmer weather. Fi-
nally spring flowers start blooming and it’s time to
start work in the garden. The Kentucky Derby, Cin-
co de Mayo, Mother’s Day, the Ascension of Our
Lord, Council elections, Indianapolis 500 and re-
membrance of our War Veterans are just some of activ-
ities that keep us busy. And the Nevada KofC State Convention.
The 103rd year Nevada State Convention was
held in Las Vegas at St. Francis DeSales Church and
was hosted by Fr. Francisco Garces Council 5693.
The delegates that attended from our council were
myself and PGK John DeBord. The convention con-
sisted of mainly business items, Fraternal Mass for
all deceased Brothers, Banquet, awards and election
of State Officers and delegates to the Supreme Con-
vention.
Our council was presented the Council Activ-
ity Award for the state and also awarded 3rd place for
our newsletter.
Seminarian ticket sales for the state
brought in $41K, our council collected
$2134. Winners will be posted after
they’ve been notified. Please pray for
priest vocations. Nevada has more
churches than priests and 9600 Catho-
lics per priest.
356 Fund collected $12,265 for the State.
Our Council 13842 donated $838.

Fund raffle tickets. Our council raised $2134 for this year’s Fund.
Delegates to Supreme Convention, San Antonio, TX. - Aug 2013 John Layman, IPSD Ray Gardea, State Deputy Greg Sprigg, State Secretary Thomas Thorn, State Advocate Victor Edwards, State Warden Brothers even though this is a busy month let’s not forget that special person that brought us into this world and also the one that gave birth to our children. And of course the Mother of us all, our Lady Mary the mother of our Lord and all mankind. Vivat Jesus

Seven $1,000 scholarships were awarded by our Council Scholarship Committee to Bishop Manogue student applicants for the current school year. Funds were al-located from the Council budget and golf tournament proceeds. The scholarship committee, Dave Wertzberger, Jim Holmes and John Murphy reviewed the appli-cations including an essay, pastoral activities, campus activities and minimum GPA of 2.5. Well done, brothers, these funds really make a difference. Your con-tinued support is crucial for those families who value a Catholic education.
