stand 14. In total there was 24 schools from all over Ireland that made it to the final in the Helix.

That made us in the top 1% of schools that entered the competition. We got a chance to see some

of the projects and the standard was extremely high. The morning was spent at our stand as the

judges came around and asked us questions about our project. We got to meet the President of

DCU, the Minister for Education, Richard Bruton and the Vice president of Intel in Ireland. Intel

provided us with a nice lunch. After lunch there was a show before the results were announced.

We received a certificate and a rosette.

We had a really long day but it was really worthwhile.

On Thurs Feb 2nd we played the first round of the indoor camogie. Our first match was against

Stonehall which we won, We then played Quin and they beat us. In our last match we needed to

win to force a three way play off. In the last match we beat Newmarket which meant ourselves,

Quin and Newmarket were level on points. Following the draw Newmarket played Quin . Quin

won and then we played Quin in the deciding game. It was level after normal time and the it

went down to the Golden Goal ie the first team to score wins! Knockanean scored first and we

are now in the semi final! In our semi final we lost out to a very strong Crusheen team.

Pink Ribbon Day:

On Friday the 17th of February we celebrated Pink Ribbon Day by dressing in pink, face painting

& nail painting. At break the whole school took part in a skipathon. The whole school also per-

formed a dance in the yard to the music” Can't stop the feeling” led by Ruth and 5th and 6th clas-

ses. All the classes took turns getting their nails and face painted by the 6th class pupils. Every-

body made a huge effort and there were lots of cool costumes like swimsuits, boys dressed as girls

a pink mummy and many more . Amy’s class also had an Egyptian day today and there were lots

of pink Egyptians walking around the school! Everybody brought in a minimum of €2. And we

sold pink ribbons during the week. In total we raised €820 which will be donated to Sláinte an

Chláir and Breast cancer research institute in Galway. All in all it was a great day and many

thanks to all who helped and participated.

We also raised €360 for Daffodil Day. Thanks to all the parents for their support

a book or movie. Everyone put in great effort

and the outcome was amazing. Just after small

break there was a Grease off where Danny and

Sandy from 5th and 6th class showed off their

best moves. The teachers put in a lot of effort

too, with Mr. Curran as Fred Flintstone and

lots of other great teachers costumes too! Eve-

because we learnt so many different facts

about engineering. At the end everyone got an

Engineers week band. It was great fun.

Boys 7 aside football On the 16th of

March we went to Gurteen and played a seven

aside football tournament in Gurteen .Our

first game was against rivals Doora . It was a

very tight game but we eventually came out on

top. Our next game was a friendly against

Scoil Chríost Rí . We lost the game as a lot of

our players were resting for our next game

which was the important one. The last game

was against the Gaelscoil. It was the tightest

game all day but we lost by a point. So unfor-

On the 31st of March we played a seven aside hurling tournament in Clooney Quin GAA pitch.

Our first game was against Doora after a tight game we came out on top. Then we played

Quin who had lots of hurling in them. It was a goal fest but Quin just had the edge on us. We

were then out of the competition but we still got to play a friendly against Doora. This match
