1 skein Cascade 220 Superwash® Aran, 100% Superwash Merino Wool, 100g (3.5 oz) 150 yds (137.5 m), color

Size 7 US/4.5mm 16 inch circular needle or size needed to obtain gauge.

Size 7 US/4.5mm double point needles

Cable needle

One Stitch marker

Tapestry needle

Finished Size

21.25 inches in circumference unstretched.

Gauge

20.75 stitches and 24 rounds = 4 inches in cable pattern.

Abbreviations

c4b – Slip 2 stitches onto cable needle and hold in back of the work. K2, k2 from cable needle.

k2tog – Knit 2 stitches together.

kfb – Increase 1 stitch by knitting into the front of the stitch, leaving the stitch on the left needle, then

knitting into the back of the stitch.

ssk – Slip 1 stitch as if to knit, slip a second stitch as if to knit. Insert the left needle into the front of the 2

slipped stitches. Knit the 2 stitches together.

Pattern

With 16 inch circular needles cast on 100 stitches. Place marker. Join to

work in the round. Work in a [k2, p2] rib for 6 rounds. Next round, [k3,

kfb, k4, p1] 10 times, [k4, p1] twice. 110 stitches.

Begin Cable Pattern

Rounds 1-4: [K4, p1] to end of round.

Round 5: *C4b, p1, k4, p1; repeat from * to end of round.

Rounds 6-8: [K4, p1] to end of round.

Round 9: *C4b, p1, k4, p1; repeat from * to end of round.

Rounds 10-14: [K4, p1] to end of round.

Round 15: *K4, p1, c4b, p1; repeat from * to end of round.

Rounds 16-18: [K4, p1] to end of round.

Round 19: *K4, p1, c4b, p1; repeat from * to end of round.

Round 20: [K4, p1] to end of round.

Repeat rounds 1-14

Crown

Begin working decreases for crown. Change to double point needles when necessary.

Round 1: *K3, ssk, k4, p1; repeat from * to end of round. 99 stitches.

Round 2: *K7, ssk; repeat from * to end of round. 88 stitches.

Round 3: *K9, k2tog; repeat from * to end of round.

Round 4: Knit

Round 5: *K8, k2tog; repeat from * to end of round.

Round 6: Knit

Round 7: *K7, k2tog; repeat from * to end of round.

Round 8: Knit

Round 9: *K6, k2tog; repeat from * to end of round.

Round 10: *K5, k2tog; repeat from * to end of round.

Continue in this manner, working 1 less stitch before the k2tog until 8 stitches remain. Break yarn. With tap-

estry needle, run yarn through remaining live stitches. Pull tight and secure. Work in loose ends.
