Monroe Downtown is excited to present Paws in the Park, a 5K run and 2K dog walk. This 5K run is set to raise funds to complete Childers Park Dog Park. Downtown Monroe and the community are collaborating once again to make Childers Park a family-oriented park. The park will now be a fun place for our four-legged, furry family members as well. Childers Park will now have its very own dog park. The proceeds from the 5K will be used to construct the dog park. Registration is now open online at monroedowntown.com. The cost to participate in the run is $20 on race day. For more information on the event go to monroedowntown.com/event/paws-in-the-park.

With the change of the season comes great fun for the residents of Monroe and surrounding communities as well. Fall Fest is fast approaching and will be a great event for every family member. Kids will have a chance to show off their favorite superhero or favorite Disney Princess costume in the costume contest that will be held at the Historic Courthouse. We are also adding a new attraction for the daredevils this year: THE LARGEST MOBILE ZIPLINE! The zipline will be 25 feet off the ground and over 300 feet in length. Come out and soar like an eagle above the streets of Monroe.

In addition to the zipline, Fall Fest will also have

the spider jump, moon walks, pony rides, hay rides, and much more. It is an opportunity to enjoy the changing leaves and inviting atmosphere of Downtown Monroe. You can find more on the attractions for this great event at monroedowntown.com.

The South Broad TE Project is part of the Transportation Enhancement grant funded by the Georgia Department of Transportation for a street-scape project along State Route 11 from Broad Street to Mill Street. With this grant, the City will make provisions for pedestrian-oriented facilities such as sidewalks and multi-purpose paths. The improvements include but are not limited to: sidewalks, bicycle trails, street lighting, and the planting of trees along the South Broad Street Corridor. The enhancements will make it easier for pedestrians traveling to the City Center by way of foot-traffic or bicycle. It will provide a safe alternative to driving for enjoying all of the many attractions Downtown Monroe has to offer.

The Great Water Heater Roundup is a special event that will run from October until November. The central theme is natural gas tank and tankless water heating. Natural gas water heating offers several benefits for citizens and businesses. With natural gas, water is heated faster so there is more hot water. Natural gas tankless water heaters provide a continuous supply of hot water so you will never run out of hot water. Because natural gas is delivered efficiently to homes and businesses, the cost of heating water with natural gas is much lower than with electricity or propane.

In addition, because natural gas is the most environmentally-friendly energy today, a natural gas water heater will emit less greenhouse gas emissions than an electric water heater. An electric water heater uses electricity that’s generated at a central plant with coal, nuclear energy, and even natural gas. The electricity is then delivered to your home or business very inefficiently. When you choose natural gas, you’re making a choice to lower your energy costs, use energy efficiently, and be a good steward of the environment.

Benefits

Benefits of natural gas water heating for your home business

• Plenty of hot water• Reduced monthly energy costs• Reduced CO2 or greenhouse gas emissions

The Great Water Heater Roundup is a partnership of local governments, water heater manufacturers, local contractors, and local businesses to help consumers

understand the above advantages of natural gas water heating. During these 60 days, special rebates, offers, and events will be available to

consumers to help with the purchase and installation of a natural gas water heater. The Great Water Heater Roundup is the best time to begin enjoying the benefits of natural gas water heating.

Natural gas water heating is the most efficient way to heat water. Join the movement and let’s “roundup” those inefficient water heating systems and start saving energy and money now. For

more information on the Great Water Heater Round-up call 770-266-5330 or visit monroega.com.

“Save money and energy by replacing your old

electric or propane water heater with a gas one.
