Tekna Automazione e Controllo, estabilished in 1994 in Foggia (Italy), with the purpose to be the reference

company for industrial automation in the south of Italy and it has extended its range to the North of Italy and

abroad. Today, the company counts among its clients several internationally industrial groups and it works both

Those objectives are not easy to obtain in all the productive realities, independently from the geographical position and the inside organization. UP GRADE AND INCREASE CRANE PERFORMANCES The needs to increase the speed time of loading and unloading of container and bulk materials, require cranes with high performance. This can be achieved buying new cranes or maintaining the existing cranes and improving their performance: with this solution we save a lot of money. Tekna, with its experience, offer to his customer the following service on existing crane:

• Full maintenance, electrical and mechanical • Change all the power drive motor that control the movements of the crane: gantry, lifting, trolley, boom • Change the motors and drives to increase the speed of machine, travel, lifting and trolley speed • Maintain or change all the gear boxes installed on the crane • Renewal or install new brakes, also for emergency, on the crane • Change the obsolete automation system of the crane, PLC and supervision, with new one available on the

AUTOMATION SYSTEM AND POWER

The automation system of a crane is used to control all the logic crane operation and the speed of the motors so that the materials, containers or bulk products, can be handled in a controlled manner and the desired speeds. The automation system, implemented using programmable logic controllers (PLC), is the heart and brain of the crane. The Tekna is System Integrator of automation equipment, PLC, inverters and power drive of the main world producers, such as Siemens, ABB, Rockwell, Control Techniques, General Electric, Schneider Electric and is, therefore, able to provide complete equipment for automation of crane according to the specifications of the customers. Tekna carries out design of the entire system for automation cranes, builds automation and power cabinets in its Italian plant, install the panels and equipment on board crane, with its strategic partners present in several countries, and make the start up and commissioning using its own technicians. The computer installated on crane bord, integrated into the automation system, provides:

OTHER EXPERIENCES AND APPLICATIVE FIELDS

- Application of the automation basic products, like drives for motors regulation, Programmable Logical Controls, special cards for close loop control, thermoregulators, level sensors, revolutions checks, not clogging sensors. The engineers apply components used is of primary houses as regard P. L. C. (Siemens, Omron, Allen Bradley, GE, Telemecaniques) and drives, inverter, brushless and dc drives (Siemens, ABB, Omron, Control Techniques, Telemecaniques)

- Extruder lines automation, including the variable-speed extruder management, thermoregulation, the

transport roll speed synchronization, the winder management with material stretch control. The automation provides the speed management of DC motors, powers from 75Kw to 1100Kw, the interface to the field and the check room and diagnosis using P. L. C.

- Glass tempering lines automation: tempering furnaces thermoregulation with recipes management and a

close loop control in PLC of the different zones of temperature, kinematics automation of the automatic load phases, discards management, automatic unloading and tempered glasses palletization. To automatize the lines, it has been used PLC of Siemens S7, Allen Bradley SLC500 and Control Logix, interfaced to supervisory computer in local industrial net.

- Automation of stacker/reclaimer, belt system, safety equipments, P.L.C. and logic, illuminating organs, revolving chair in box, interphone. To automatize machines equipments of different suppliers have been used: Siemens PLC interfaced to intelligent terminal board, speed regulators for alternating current motor by Siemens, Hitachi, Yaskawa, Omron, Control Techniques and Allen Bradley, speed regulators for direct current motors by Siemens, Marelli, Telemecanique and General Electric, specific apparatuses for lifting and translation, integrated to electronic and electromechanical protections and safeties.

- Plants and processes supervision systems using SCADA package (Siemens, General Electric, Rockwell)

connected to the decentralized periphery installed in field and connected to the supervision system through high speed industrial nets

- Systems integrated with belt continuous weighing and batch automation: closed loop control systems for

product dosing

- Closed loop control systems for temperature regulation of electric furnaces - Closed loop control systems for great fans air capacity regulation in the glass tempering processes
