Manufacturing Execution System

961637 林龍一

• Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) are IT systems that manage production in factories. The scope of such systems is somewhat imprecise, but typically includes:▫ Presentation of schedules to workcentres (often derived

from ERP or Advanced Planning & Scheduling systems)▫ Collection of production information (time, quantity, quality,...)▫ Analysis of production information (e.g. "How many units of this

product did this workcentre produce last month?")▫ Control of planned and unplanned maintenance▫ Quality control▫ Shipping / dispatch▫ Product labelling▫ Product traceability (particularly important in safety-critical

applications, e.g. pharmaceuticals)

• MES typically do not encompass PE, i.e. the real-time control of machinery, but there may be an overlap.

• What the MES can do for a business?

Business Reasons to implement MES include:▫ Automate management of recipes (process manufacturers)▫ Scheduling, (including the management of priorities)▫ Production reporting▫ Key Performance Indicator (KPI) tracking▫ Event or exception management▫ Product or materials tracking▫ Intelligent decisions to influence production and cost management▫ Measure and manage Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)▫ Ease management of resources, including inventory and personnel

•Data Integrity Management Integrity is related to the quality of data, it is maintained with the

help of integrity constraints, DBMS provides several mechanisms to enforce integrity of the data.

Entity Integrity The entity integrity is a constraint on primary key value. It states that any attribute of a

primary key cannot contain null value. Entity integrity ensures that it should be easy to identify each entity in the database.

Referential Integrity The referential integrity is a constraint on foreign key value. It states that if a foreign

key exists in a relation, the foreign key value match the primary key value of some tuple in its parent relation. Otherwise the foreign key value must be completely null.

Functions of a Database Management System:

•Security Management

The DBMS can prevent unauthorized users from viewing or updating the database. Using passwords, users are allowed access to the entire database or a subset of it known as a "subschema." For example, in an employee database, some users may be able to view salaries while others may view only work history and medical data.

•Backup and Recover Management Recovery models for SQL Server• Full recovery model• Bulk-logged recovery model • Simple recovery model

•DBMS Language•Data Definition Language ; DDL Goal :Constructing Database Schema•Data Manipulation Language ; DML 「 CRUD 」 CREATE READ(SELECT) UPDATE DELETE

The name of few DBMS Software • FOXPRO• MS-ACCESS• SQL Server• My SQL• ORACLE

Question B: What are the advantages and disadvantages of each IS/IT?

• It represents complex relationships among different data items.

• Keeps a tight control on data redundancy.

• Enforces user defined rules to ensure the integrity of data in a table form.

• Maintains data dictionary for the storage of information pertaining to data fields and data manipulation.

• Ensures that data can be shared across all applications.

• Enforces data access authorization.

• Has an automatic intelligent backup and recovery procedure of data.

• Has different interfaces through which users can manipulate data.

Advantages of DBMS

• DBMS subjects a business to a risk in the loss of critical data in its electronic format it can be more readily stolen without proper security

• The cost of a DBMS can be prohibitive for small enterprises as they struggle with cost justification for making the investment in the infrastructure

• Improper use of the DBMS can lead to incorrect decision making as people take for granted the data is accurate as presented.

• Data can be stolen by careless of the password security.

• Enterprise vulnerability may be higher.

Disadvantages of DBMS

Customer Relationship Management

961627 胡宇賢

IntroductionBackgroundConventional businesses always focused on their sales ,butthey ignored the significance of the customers. To improvethis situation, CRM systems were developed to make abridge between businesses and customers.

Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Systems are broadly recognized, widely-implemented strategy formanaging and nurturing a company’s interactions withclients and sales prospects.

CRM’s Objectives

•Customer Acquisition

•Customer Retention

•Customer Loyalty

•Customer Profitability reference by R.S. Swift(2000)

Customer Classification

a. Consumer - Buy the final products of personal or familyb. Business to Business(B2B)- Buy enterprise production parts, equipment, materials, and sales to other customers after value added.c. Channel/Distributor- To Sale to customer's personal or business downstream after buying products, for instance, wholesalers, retailers, and the joining trader

CRM cycle

Acquire & Retain Understand & Differentiate Develop & Customize Interact & Deliver

What are the CRMS available in the market?

What are the CRMS can do for a business? Small business has always been about customer relationship .

productivity of your sales force, making their work easier and more rewarding and giving your company more control.

c. Better access to customer information-Provides heightened access to a consolidated view of your customers

without the need for lengthy and expensive data conditioning.

Importance of CRM

What are the advantages of CRMS?

Increase Customer Lifecycle Value -To make profits, it is important to keep the customer longer and

sell him more products during his lifecycle. Customer stay, if they

-Once the business strategy is put into motion, the management needs feedback and reports to judge how the business is performing. With control and a scientific way to identify and resolve issues.

What are the advantages of CRMS?

Customer Lifecycle Management

-To keep the customers happy, you need to know them better. From contact to contract to customer service.

Strategic Consistency

-Because CRM offers business and technological alignment, it

enables companies to achieve strategic company goals more effectively

Business Intelligence -Due to the valuable business insights that CRM provides, it becomes easier to identify the bottlenecks, their causes and the

remedial measures that need to be taken.

What are the disadvantages of CRMS?

Repetitive, menial work -Its hard work to populate a database; and it doesn’t help if you

imagine the number of hours people have to type in the initial

content of the database. Doing this menial task can take up from a few weeks to a good number of months, ouch.Too much information in CRM

-Too much information in the CRM system, and it simply

frustrates users to find the information that they want. ; too less information, no progress shall be made.

Cost too much -CRMS require continuous maintenance, information updating,

and system upgrading costly

Difficult to integrate with other management information systems

-Harvest Engine at Relationship Tactics
