The aspect of Fire and Safety Security touches our day to day lives and with ever-growing awareness coming though media and social sites, being safety conscious is not a choice but necessity. I see a lot of good mails circulating informing each other how to safeguard from incidents of concerns and leading to sharing of lessons learnt. FSAI has been spreading the message of Safety and Fire Prevention though lectures, conferences and modern approach of Webinars. We have a strong foot hold to reach the best of the best in the fraternity to contribute in spreading correct and professional knowledge to our members. The National Team has developed Road Map of the activities planned and though the Executive Office Bearers we will work towards effective and efficient reach in spreading the awareness. As is said,

Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success,

ISSUE 06 - February 2014

One day session on latest Detection and Fire Alarm Technology was organized at Bosch Security Training Academy on 13th December 2013. The participation was on invitation basis for FSAI members and key stakeholders associated with FSAI. The day long program started with an introduction from Bosch and FSAI, followed by multiple sessions on the technology specific topics.

Hyderabad | 8th November 2013 - CPR & BCLS (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation & Basic Cardiac Life Support)

Fire & Security Association of India, Hyderabad Chapter conducted a Training Program on ‘CPR & BCLS’, on the 8th November 2013 at Hyderabad from 09.30 am to 02.30 pm. The basic idea is that everyone should be able to handle BCLS, Basic Cardiac Life Support & perform basic first aid, since most people will eventually find themselves in a situation requiring it, either for another person or for their loved ones. Thousands of lives can be saved across India if companies get their ERT personnel trained in BCLS, basic first aid and CPR techniques. The objective of this training is to equip participants with basic knowledge on CPR techniques, chocking & using an AED. This program provides participants with the latest guidelines & information on resuscitation, to increase survivability of Cardiac arrest & chocking victims in public places (out of hospital scenario). As a part of course material, we provided the following for each of the participant: •CPR mask & disinfectants •Copy of participants reference material •Participation Certificate.

Gujarat | 6th December 2013 - “Fire Safety” for Home Guard Jawans

Fire & Security Association of India (Gujarat Chapter) had organized a half day training program on “Fire Safety” for Home Guard Jawans on 6th December 2013 between 8 AM to 11 AM at Home Guard Ground, Anil Starch Road, Bapunagar, Ahmedabad. The aim of the training was to give basic education on Fire & Safety to new recruited and old Home Guard Jawans of Gujarat State. More than 400 officers and Jawans were present for the training from various district across the Gujarat. Shri. Pinakin Shah – Company Commander (Gujarat Home Guard) gave a detailed of FSAI works and its services to the society. There was a live demonstration of Fire extinguishers and PPE products and all Jawans where berried on its usage and various do’s & don’ts in case of fire or emergency.

Alarm Systems with Bosch Security Systems.• Demonstration of Fire Alarm System operation in an integrated

environment.The training was carried out by Mr.Ajay Sareen and Mr.Rajkumar A.R. of Bosch. The event attracted good responses from various stake holders. Feedback on the session has been good and many participants lauded it as very informative and helped to learn new technologies / trends in Fire detection systems. Most felt the training Duration could have been more. Based on these feedback, organizers from Bosch and FSAI decided to conduct such sessions later as well.

GREEN & SAFE Summit - Visakhapatnam

A two day seminar on GREEN & SAFE SUMMIT organized by ISHRAE & FSAI Visakhapatnam Chapters at Hotel Novotel was inaugurated by the distinguished guests Dr. M.V.V.S. Murthy, President, Gitam University, Vice Admiral Bimal Kumar Varma, AVSM, Chief of Staff Eastern Naval Command, Mr. N. Sambasiva Rao, Director General of AP Disaster Response & Fire Services and Mr. Satish Jamdar, MD, Bluestar Limited on 04th January 2014.

The Summit creates awareness on latest trends and practices on Energy Conservation Air Conditioning Equipment, Electrical Equipment, Fire Safety and CCTV Surveillance for Security and the Concept of Green Buildings. The Summit mainly focused on Energy Conservation aspects and Security aspects in the view of increased usage of Air Conditioning and Electrical Equipment and increasing importance of Security through CCTV Surveillance.

The seminar was well attended by 350 delegates from various sectors of industry, hotels, malls, hospitals and various industries and establishments. Also this was attended by future engineers from various engineering colleges to learn about the latest industrial practices. The Director General, Fire Services, Mr. Sambasiva Rao, IPS lauded the efforts put in by FSAI and ISHRAE for creating awareness on fire safety and energy conservation.

SIP -SchoolFocus

Strategic Initiative Programme - School Focus is a landmark in which we plan to cover all schools Pan-India. The main objective is to entrench Fire Safety practices in the impressionable minds of children at very early stage in their life so that they understand how to react to situation which demand quick thinking without panic and will remember how a positive attitude can save life in Fire condition. We have been successfully conducting these programmes in schools with National Sponsors, Tyco and Honeywell, covering more than 1 Lakh Students in major cities i.e. Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Gujarat and Kolkata.

A one day seminar was conducted by ISHRAE Thane Chapter in support with FSAI Mumbai Chapter on the topic “Fire & Life Safety in Malls & Shopping Complexes”. This was held on the 29th November 2013 at Satkar Residency, Thane. The session concluded with a delightful Q&A session “Ask the Chief Fire Officer”. Mr.Arvind Mandke gave his views and answers to various questions put forward by the 200 odd participants. He provided an insight into Fire Safety measures and since he has been closely involved in developing a book on Good Practices, was able to satisfactorily answer everyone’s queries.On behalf of FSAI Management, we would like to thank Mr.Suresh Menon, Chapter Secretary -Mumbai, who was present during the entire session, which enabled us bridge our relationship with ISHRAE very well. The concepts and ideas which were shared between the chapters and its representatives, were well received. FSAI is looking forward to supporting such events, which gives ample opportunity to showcase the activities conducted by them, as well as increase the strength and visibility of the association.
